We have just spent 2 weeks at the Kaissa Beach Apartments. Rooms small but adequate. Ours had a separate bedroom with 2 single beds and the seats in the living area doubled up as another 2 single beds. The aircon and safe deposit box was quite expensive at 100€ for 2 weeks. The kitchen facilities were less than basic. Very limited utensils with NO TOASTER, no oven or grill. Bathroom not very clean. Towels left for several days before being changed. The toilet paper bin is also left for several days before being emptied. I was told about this on my first day therefore we made a decision not to use it. Despite the notice, all our toilet paper went down the toilet. After hearing all the smelly horror stories, I'm glad we made that decision! Apartments set in quite attractive grounds, pool area nice with plenty of sunbeds and parasols. Generally a nice quiet place for families (if you don't mind the low flying planes every 5 minutes, day and night), but be warned, the management do allow big gangs of same sex groups to use the apartments. We were enjoying a nice relaxing holiday until about 10 young lads from Ireland all checked in. Their presence was quite intimidating for the children, and a lot of people lost a lot of sleep through their all night partying! The beaches outside the apartments are pebbled. A 5 minute stroll either way will take you to the nice sandy beaches. The high street is also approx. 5 minutes from the apartments. Lots of shops, bars and restaurants, but everything is so very expensive. No cheap bargains in Gouves, beer approx. 3€-4€. We did have a great holiday staying at the Kaissa, but we will not be going back.

We have recently returned from the Kaissa Beach. On arrival we were met by Jenny at 1.30 in the morning, she was very helpful and settled us in to our apartment. The apartment was typically Greek,it needed updating and brightening up.The water in the kitchen only trickled out of the tap and although the fridge was efficient it was held together with rust,it hadn't been de-frosted from previous guests so we couldn't put anything in it.The apartment was swept and mopped only twice in three weeks. We had to empty the toilet bin and kitchen bin ourselves and was only emptied 3 times by the maids. The linen and towels need to be re-placed. The sheets had huge rips in them and the towels were threadbare. The air con. and safe were expensive to hire but necessary. On the plus side,Debbie ,who ran the pool-side bar,was great.A very cheerful lady with a good sense of humour. The fry-ups were delicious. The Kaissa is very near to the beach and was lovely and quiet. There are some very good tavernas nearby. The Filoxenia is family run and the food is excellent. The Chinese in the side street is also very good but everything is expensive,4 euros for a beer and 2 euros for a Fanta. The average price for an evening meal with a starter and main course as about 45 euros for 2 people.Gouves is a lovely place and we would go there again but we would not stay at the Kaissa Beach.

We booked online through hotels 4 u and to be honest it was much easier than throughany touer operator. the concept allows you freedom to enjoy your holiday and they dont pressure you with excursions.
The apts are what you expect and want from a greek style holiday ,..basic functional and clean, although a unnammed accommodation last minute booking by a group of irish lads on a mission took up more time than necessary for our cleaners, but a concderrted effort by "Rula" on reception and the cleaners kept things running as best as possible.
The bars are run by Debbie in the daytime and Jennie in the evening. Michelalis will tempt you with local cuisine in the attached seafront resteraunt and they dont dissapoint with flavour, (discount on your first night).
All the staff work hard here, they are outnumbered by the clientelle and unfortunatly sometimes its too much but dont worry..they are a great bunch who will ensure a great holiday.
The Apts are ideally located between Gouves bay and Gouves centre. 15 mins stroll either way will provide you with shelving sand beaches and tavernas.
Also dont forget to try "Davinci resteraunt" in Gouves bay.
Thank you to all at Kaissa beach. We really enjoyed our stay. even the little time We stayed in the pool.
Love to all
Simon, Becky, and Adam.

We have just returned from a week in Gouves and feel completely relaxed having had a great time. Gouves is a quiet town with plenty of lovely places to eat and shops to browse. The beaches are not too busy, even in August and the sea is clean and warm. The prices in different supermarkets vary but we found the one around the corner and opposite the Irish bars very reasonable with friendly, talkative staff.
Our stay in Kaissa was pleasant. The pool area is lovely. It is well maintained and cared for with plenty of space for everyone. The toilets in the pool area are extremely clean and actually put the apartment toilets to shame. In the bar area there is internet access, a pool table and a darts board amongst other things. The staff are very friendly and helpful but the drinks are quite expensive. The apartments themselves are adequate for a short stay, especially if you eat out in the evening. The kitchen did have a new kettle and microwave. The water is heated by solar power so it's cold in the morning but hot in the evening. Our sheets and towels were changed once during the week which was ok but we were quite concerned that even in the middle of August the 'poo bin' was only emptied twice. The bathroom had no ventilation so the shower curtain was a bit mouldy (Having read other reviews, I took an Asda 94p one with me incase it was too unbearable but we didn't use it.) However, by the end of the week the smell from the toilet was absolutely dreadful and we really wished we'd bought a bottle of bleach on day one.
All in all we had a great holiday and the only fly in the ointment was the bathroom and toilet situation.

Declan and I have just returned to Ireland after a two week stay in Kaissa Beach. This has been our third trip to Gouves and our most enjoyable holiday there to date.
On arrival we met Stavrula who works many long hours a week as receptionist and many other jobs around the complex, we found her extremely friendly and accomodating over our whole stay and enjoyed a drink or two with her when she managed to find the time and could stay awake long enough, this girl works extremely hard and takes everything in her stride.
Our first room was on the ground floor and basic but fine for our needs. We did however ask to be moved to the apartments upstairs and got moved a few days later when one became available, this was slightly different layout and seemed bigger with a nice balcony which could sit on to have lunch etc.
The complex istself is quite small but this is what we liked about it. It has a lovely mix of English, Irish and Dutch and we got to know nearly everyone there and have made a lot of friends.
The highlight of our holiday, apart from the restaurants, beaches and things to do in Crete has to be our two barmaids Debbie and Jenny.
Debbie works the day shift and can often be heard singing and laughing all the way accross the pool area. Debbie is a lovely English lady who's been living in Crete for 20 years, she lives life to the full and will make you feel very welcome and will make you have a tear in your eye when it comes to saying goodbye. She also makes a mean Frappe (you'll be wired to the moon after one).
Jenny takes over at 6pm. She is a young lady from Dublin and living in Crete for over 2years. She has the quick Dublin wit and banter and we thoroughly enjoyed winding her up and having such laughs that our sides were sore.
Over all we loved it and will definately go back with our kids, whom we did not take as they're bit young but would have no reservations about taking them to Kaissa. The only critism we would have is that the bins were not always emptied on a daily basis but we will definately go back.

The pictures on the internet are fake, and are not taken from the blue sky apartments. Air con costs 7 euros a day, what a rip off. The general price of everything is more expensive than in england. The food is disgusting in gouves, do yourself a favour and go somewhere else, like Blackpool.

These apartments are situated in a quiet but great location, surrounded by restaurants with the sea just across the road. The beach is located 10-15 mins walk away & the centre 10 mins. The apartments were a good size (we had a 1 bedroom) but very basic. We found that ok as we only booked a cheap deal for a week. The kitchen area is extremely basic you get 2 rings, a microwave & a kettle which would only boil if it hadnt been used in 24 hours!! We were disappointed you didnt get a toaster (no grill either) & when we asked about one were told you had to pay to rent one!!! The apts have air con located in the bedroom but this is charged daily (36 Euros) for a week, obviously in june/july/aug you cant do without it so we had to pay. The bedrooms were again basic with 2 single beds (that you cant push together). The bathroom had a decent enough shower but the shower curtain was minging. Overall the apts are nice inside but could do with a good makeover! We had a nice terrace outside (we were ground floor) all the apts seemed to have terraces/balconys & a few at the front on the first floor looked to have lovely sea views. The room was only cleaned once in a week & the towels changed every 3rd day & the bins emptied every day. Our neighbours next door did have some trouble with noise from the cleaners early in the mornings (around 8-9 am) but we didnt hear anything. The grounds were well kept & the pool is a good size with loads of space with sun beds & a shower. The poolside bar is nice serving a good english brekkie (5 Euros each). But beware drinks can be expensive with Fanta costing the same as beer!! I think it was 8 Euros for 2 fantas! Debbie is lovely who works there in the day & always made the effort to chat & have a laugh. The same for Jenny who works in the bar at night, lovely girl, really makes a difference to your hol when you get nice friendly staff. There isnt a supermarket on site or that close but if you turn left outside the apts, walk down the road & turn left again onto the main street there is a supermarket there which also has a cash machine (about 10 min walk). Overall the apts were adequate for a cheap week but very basic but the location was nice.
Gouves is a nice quiet relaxing resort ideal for couples & families. The resort is only small but has enough restaurants/bars to keep it from being boring. The resort has a few beaches the best one being to the right of our apts (Kassia Beach) about a 15 min walk & across from the Pantheon Hotel. The water is lovely & you can walk out quite far before it becomes too deep but beware the waves were quite strong & can easy knock you off your feet as i found out!It costs 2.20 Euros each for the sunbeds & i think another 2 Euro for an umbrella. The beach didnt get too crowded while we were there but i imagine July/Aug they will get busier. Beware before you travel to Greece as i was still under the impression it would be cheap & that is not the case at all. f anything it was an expensive holiday with the prices being the same if not more (especially for drinks) than England. We spent (2 adults) £600 for 1 week, when we traveled to Tenerife in Feb we only spent £450. An average price for a 2 course meal with a bottle of wine was 40-50 Euros we later found out it was the price of the wine that was making the meals expensive (19.50 Euro for 1 bottle of wine & that was only average wine), we were disgusted by that you dont even pay that in England for a bottle of wine in a restaurant.Anyway we learnt the hard way!The food was extremely nice tho & our favourite restaurant by far was the Da Vinci Code Restaurant located behind the Pantheon Hotel.Great service & the food was gorgeous. Also the prices were the lowest & good portion sizes. The owners were so friendly esp Miranda & the waiter who is the owners son was very nice & chatty.I recommend the oven baked Feta & the garlic bread to start, as for main meals think me & my boyfriend tried all of the Greek dishes haha!I think the Stifado was the best. Also you have to try the Olive Paste they serve with the bread MmmMmm!The restaurant that was part of our apts (in front of them & beside the sea) were nice but to pricey even with a 10% discount you get (which your supposed to get everytime but they conviently kept forgetting to deduct from the bill),we soon tired of the prices in there as they charged us 9 Euros for 2 strawberry milkshakes which were only the size of half a pint!!I was later told they charge you different prices depending on where you sit!How cheeky,so if your sat beside the sea (which obvisouly you would want to be you have to pay more for the privelage).Another good place was the New Chinese Restaurant.

We have just returned from a 10 day stay at Kaissa Beach Apartments and we both had a brilliant time.
Our apartment was clean and spacious. The rooms were cleaned and bins empited on a daily basis with fresh towels and linen being brought every three/four days. The swimming pool was just the right size and there were plenty of sun loungers so you didn't have to get up at the crack of dawn to put your towels down.
Many thanks to the great bar staff for making our holiday so much fun. Debbie worked hard during the day and made us giggle many times often serving us food to cure a hangover.
Jenny, the lovely Irish bar maid worked at night and was always pleased to see us with a great, big, friendly wave and much laughter in the evenings!! She even recommened some of the best things to try out in Crete including the Wally Wagon - he he!!
Both invaluable members of staff that really made our holiday worth while.
The food served at the bar is mainly bar snacks. The english breakfasts are great and we highly recommened the roast dinners (if you fancy something english). Traditional Greek dancing is organised usually on a Monday night and on a Thursday night they often have a BBQ on with a wide choice of meats, greek salads and potatos and lots of fruit for afters!!
All in all a great holiday and we would recommened the Kaissa Beach Apartments to all as it is suitable for familes and couples!!!

The appartments were very well kept and lovely although sometimes we were disturbed by the room above as the ceiling was very thin.
The pool was very good although it was a bit deep in all areas and there was a few cracked tiles and it was very slippy.
A really big thank you to alex the barman you really were amazingly funny. Thank you also to the women who stayed up until 4am just to show us where our room was.
Thank you everyone!

When we arrived late evening we were greeted with a friendly reception and given our keys. Our room was small and basic and in need of updating but clean, bathroom was in need of refurbishment, but OK. The apartments are set out very well and are in quite a pretty setting, the pool area was lovely with a nice pool bar, where you can eat as well. Everyone working there were very friendly and helpful. The location is excellent with the apartments right on the sea front and a very good selection of tavernas. We thought the best beaches were as you come out turn right and follow the road past the lovely little church and just beyond are lovely beaches, and if you carry on walking some lovely places to eat. On the whole we had a very nice holiday and would recommend Gouves to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday.
