The Mikro village is very clean and very picturesque with a free form pool which is surrounded by landscape garden.
The rooms are excellent and the maids do a sterling job keeping them spotless.
The pool although freezing in May was great with plenty of sunbeds to lounge on. The pool bar is an island connected by two small bridges and looks fantastic day and night when the pool is lit up.
The downside to this hotel is its location. If you are in a car, no problem but if not it is about 1 km to the sea which is quite a climb coming back!
The other problem is the food. We are not fussy and usually found something to eat but there was no information regarding menus so it was pot luck most nights. The catering on the whole was not well presented and let the hotel down badly I thought.
The hotels saving grace is the view of Agios Nikolas and the mountains across the bay, but you have to be on a high floor (See Google Earth). Keep an eye on small kids as the pool is about 14 feet deep!!

Travelled to this hotel with my husband, daughter aged 14, son aged 2, and father-in law. On check in the reception informed us that they had allocated a family room for all of us despite my father-in-law paying a supplement for a single room. I explained this wasn't satisfactory and sharing one large living/bedroom area for my children and their grandfather was not acceptable even more so one bathroom for all of us.
After a period of time they reallocated accomodation as booked and the rooms we were given were very spacious with good air-conditioning and situated in very pleasant garden surroundings.
Having visited Agios Nikolaos numerous times before and having a very close friend who has resided there for 17 years I was familiar with the location of the hotel. It is not close to any of the beaches, tavernas, or even shops but on a main road. This didn't cause us a problem as I always hire a car but for those who want a nice stroll down to the town at night remember it is a very steep walk back all uphill and then a poor if non existent footpath to the hotel along this busy poorly lit main road.
The hotel entertainment was non existent too and we were there main season for 10 nights. During the day the pool area is lovely, well shaded in parts but be careful as the pool is really deep in parts with little or no warning.
We stayed half board which was very reasonably priced but the food was poor to say the least. Breakfast was a buffet, cheese, bread, cereal, boiled eggs, luncheon meat, jams, teas, coffee orange squash. Service was slow and there was often a shortage of tables and staff were slow to clear dirty tables when finished. Evening meal was a pot luck affair as we struggled to identify what was being served. However all things considered we never left a meal feeling hungry but satisfied with what we had eaten - rarely.
To summarise you basically get what you pay for - the location of this hotel wouldn't suit the many, can't recommend the food but the rooms were clean, spacious and have the all important air-conditioning. As we hadn't paid a fortune we didn't mind leaving the evening meals sometimes and sampling the local cuisine.
When visiting Agios Nikolaos again I would certainly consider this hotel again as value for money.
