got back from this hotel last week, had a fantastic time.
i was a little concerned when i read some of the poor reports on the hotel, but i need not have worried.
both swimming pools were very nice, there is an activity pool, and a quiet pool.
both pools are cleaned every morning.
the food at the hotel was really quite good, no problem at all, there was always a good choice everyday.
there is two bars, one by each pool, drinks were good at both.
although the hotel is a little dated, it is kept spotlessly clean by the hard working staff.
this hotel may be a 3 star hotel, but it delivers 5 star service.

We went to the paraiso tropical Full name (celuisma paraiso tropical)in july 2009, there was a party of 9 all together ranging from age 18 monthes to 42 years including teenages. We had a fabulous time here not one complaint, when we arrived we were met at the reception with the staff very happy and smiling, while they was getting our keys for our rooms they brought us lovely ice cold cocktils which we welcomed after that long flight. Then we were shown to our rooms which where spacious and very clean they had a fan and air conditioning which was great. The grounds and the hotel are fab and the animation team were fantastic a different show every night and entertainment in the day if u wanted it or you could just relax by the lovely pools. The food was great out of the two weeks we stayed there was only one night i wasnt too fussed on what food they had, there is a mexican and a thai restaurant in the hotel you had to book them which we did we really enjoyed the mexican, all the staff in the hotel were soooo friendly and would do anything for you even in the restaurant the staff would bring your drinks as you sat down it was excellent. We loved it so much we wanted to stay longer, we went on the catermeran trip booked through thomas cook which was fab but you could book the same trip of a man called andy on the beach loads of people booked with him we booked paradise island with him that was fab too the snorkelling was fab. On our last day the animation team all got together in the lobby and done a farewell dance for us we were so made up this is one of the best holidays i have been on in one word ****** EXCELLENT ******

Having been to Dom Rep three times I can assure readers that this is not a flippant review.
Previously I have stayed in Playa Dorado, apart from the usual mosquito bites I have always recommended the resort to friends and enjoyed my stay.
Cabarete is the first time I have stayed there and will definitely never happen again. Don’t get me wrong I am not a complaints freak nor have I tried to get money back but I really have to warn other people off this hotel and the resort.
The accommodation was dirty, we were put in an 'annexe' building to the hotel which was next to a generator that hummed loudly all night and day. Now I don’t take much notice of rooms as a rule after all no one stays in them on holiday but the noise was so loud from the generator that we did not sleep for five nights.
We asked to be moved as soon as we saw the room but were told we could have another room in 3 days when others were leaving. It was Christmas Eve and we accepted that there was no room in the Inn for three days and looked forward to the move. The food was atrocious and many of the people were taking Imodium on a daily basis.
The hotel staff were very pleasant and were clearly stressed in trying to move half the hotel occupants out of Stalag 17 as we called the annexe. The hotel boasted three restaurants. One Mexican, one Italian, and one Thai. My fiancé and I opted to eat at all three after we had tried the a la carte one and guess what? The food was terrible in all those too; in fact it was the same food just different decor.
I feel really sad writing this about a country and people that I have a fondness for but this is a warning to anyone tempted by this hotel and resort, DON’T BE! We met a lovely couple who were in the same predicament and the four of us adopted the Dunkirk spirit over it all.
I know they intended to send in their review too. Where to next? Anywhere but Cabarete!

my husband and i enjoyed a week in this resort at the end of feb. It is not the best resort on the island but for the small amount we paid we really we not expecting the ritz. The thing that drove us mad the most where the holiday makers moaning all the time about every tiny little thing. The hotel does need a good refurb if they closed it for a couple of months and did it up it would be a lovely place. The staff are excellent always singing, helpful and always cleaning! Dont be put off by the bad reviews but rememberr this is a 3 star hotel and a poor country. We enjoyed our time here and would proberly go back .
