A week at the Sandra Club Hotel was more than pleasant. Very comfortable rooms, tidy , and cleaned daily. I expect some language barriers, but the reception was more than helpful and would let us use their own hotel phone when we needed to contact our Rep or arrange time... more

Returned last week from the Sandra Club Hotel, a party of 4. We are not fussy people or the type to complain, but I cannot stress enough how bad this hotel is. It started upon arrival at midday, our rooms were not ready and we had to sit in reception for over 2 hours. While... more

They must be kidding! 4*? We arrived at 11.30 at night with 2 young children in a minibus transfer that was dirty and rusty. We requested a twin room which in Sandra Club language means: a small room with 2 single beds pushed together and a bunk bed. As soon as we saw the... more

Good advice-traveling to Yasmine Hammamet-avoid Sandra Club Hotel-or you will be
Good advice-traveling to Yasmine Hammamet-avoid Sandra Club Hotel-or you will be disappointed as me! first of all-i will barely rate it as 2star NOT 4 star hotel! food is uneatable(as chef myself i couldn’t eat so had to go outside up to marina's restaurants for dinner, sure for extra cost) bar served nasty drinks, even beer was so ugly -you would be a hero to drink a pint!! all inclusive program is so poor so you will be bored in first day! beauty salon staff doesn’t have a clue how to do pedicure(she cut my toe! so i dint take any risk with manicure)! Also bar staff is very rude! I didn’t like service(if you can name it like that)at all! Also everything else is disappointed! Just cleaning lady was ok-i always was pleased with her! room was tide ok! NOT RECOMENDED FOR NOONE_AVOID SANDRA CLUB!
food is not nice
When we arrived we were tired and hungry we were told to wait for 2 hours before our room was ready so we had to eat our lunch and sit arround waiting the staff were friendly but hardly spoke any English, then we was taken to our room (dark and dingy but clean) the beds still was not made and we wanted to have a nap and ended up falling asleep on a stained mattress to be woken up in the evening 6.30ish for the lady to spread the bed and with no appoligy. The food was not nice unknown meats and lots of flys and no proper serving spoons my husband and daughter and I lived on bread and butter for 2 weeks .it was like feeding time at the zoo. It was a expensive holiday and we did not feel that we got value for our hard ernt money would not go back there but only because the food is not nice.
Our Holiday
Hotel personnel are very friendly and helpful, there is english is not great but passable. Entertainment for children is excellent, The Sandra club personnel are great fun they arrange entertainment all day for children and adults. The hotel has mainly Italian, German and French guests the rest are mixed throughout europe. Most english go here in late september. I found the mix of euorpean people great fun and all got on well. Though we had a few problems with our room at the start the hotel got these problems fixed quickly with no hassle for our stay The cuisine is nice but very tunisian. Some was ok but others were not to my taste but there is some food for everyone. If i did not like nay food there was pasta to hand so i was happy. The annoying bit I found but people may like it is the hotel has a family of stray cats that come out at breakfast, lunch and dinner and are scrounging for food. Also when eating out side flies are a nuisance but you are in africa. Evening entertainment is geared for all. The children have a Mini Disco first then the main entertainment with awards for competitions during the day. All inclusive drink is ok not great, but sufficient. You will have to pay for the named brands of drink. Overall it was great fun and by the second week you are guaranteed to be having a laugh with the staff, and throwing them in the pool. Rooms were always cleaned every day with no problem. even out pyjamas were layed out nice. Please note this is one of the hotels i recommend for the english as other hotels do not like english in Tunisia. Lastly at the hotel there are few people selling trips. Camel ride and the Sultan II pirate ship. My advice is go for the pirate ship that is fun and it is an half day. Another trip is the 2 day Safari. Lot of travelling getting up early the experience is fun would advise children are atleast over 6 years to enjoy this. Highlight of the is the Camel ride in the Sahara Desert. Please becarefull when booking this. Make sure you guide speaks some english. I am doing a write up of this trip so please feel free to contact me here
holiday from hell
22/7/07 was worried about reviews i read .But it was all true. from the minute we arrived at the airport in monastair tunisia .That was the begining.the hotel is not a four star, the food was terrible,i have been home now for two weeks and my stomach is still doing over time if u know what i mean. its ment to be family oriented. yea if your children are three had nothing to do staff had a problem with english, didnt speak to another english person for about five days. Three thousand pound we paid for six of us i will never go tunisia again and the reviews i read were so true i could go on and say more but beware the hotel was ment to be thirty minutes from airport, it was actually one hour and twenty minutes. Driving out there will scare the pants of you.
ok
Wasnt the worst place ever but deffinately room for improvement! I agree, not brittish 4 star but reasonable and could have been a lot worse! Dont expect to get any english food there, its all german or french, as are the guests!!!! Entertainment staff were fantastic and made our holiday enjoyable! If going out shopping, or should i say not intending to shop, u wont come home empty handed as they wont take no for an answer! everywhere u go they wil try 2 sell u silver bracelets, they ask stupid money 4 them but we got ourz 4 2.5 dinar ( a quid), they will match ur price if u just walk away but can be very pressurising! also be aware of children GIVING u flowers on the side of the road which then follow u until u give them money!!!!!!! by far not the worst holiday but not the best either, gotta be worth a try!!!!!
Never Ever Again !!! Horrible!!
Right, well lets start with the food , when we arrived n went to have lunch, there flyes all over, even on the food, so we were put off by it. The room we had we didnt like as the balcony was overlooking some building site and you could har the drill etc. We changed the room the next day, we had no balcony at all, butat least the window was overlooking the street n amusement park. Rooms werent clean properly at all, there were stains on the pillows, curtains, etc b 4 you go to this hotel, make sure you see the fotos of other trevellers, you will understand what im talking about. Service wasnt great either, we didnt have remote control in the room, we had to pay the deposit in order for us to use it. we did without it. Oh rooms werent hoovered, so when you come in after a day at the beach you just dont feel like its been cleaned at all. you have to walk around 10 mins to the beach as hotel doesnt have its own priate beach. And the last thing is cockroaches..we were asleep one nite when my partner jumped out of the bed as he felt the coacroach on his body, yuk!!so we had to sleep the rest of the nite with the lights on, great!well, at least it was our last nite, so never again, will we be going back there! No way.
beware not 4 star by any standards
This hotel is not a 4 star by British standards and if considering booking, holiday makers should be aware. My husband and I both contracted food poisoning, his was so bad that the doctor considered putting him on a drip but opted for a series of injections instead. The entertainment staff are great and very good with children. The noise, however, from the hotel disco makes this not a suitable resort for small children. The food was very poor and we felt that the staff put out the minimum at all times leading to shortages and limited choice. Not what one might expect from an all inclusive hotel. There was a very large group of Russian dancers staying at the hotel when we were there. They were very rude and on one occasion, we came back from our lunch to discover that some Russian guests had removed our belongings from the sunbeds and put them on the floor making full use of the beds themselves. Having the contracted Russian dancers there also meant that we the entertainment at the hotel was their dancing show which was fine for one night but not every couple of nights. Also watch out for the assistant manager who befriended a couple from England and invited them out for a meal on the last night at which they were joined by a couple of the guys mates only for the British couple to be landed with the bill. About which we made a complaint to the management.
awful and cheap........
My wife and I went to the sandra club hotel on the 20 of may 2007 for a week the hotel is OK but beware of the cockroaches and big ants in some of the rooms we had one ask the reception manager for a change but he said that we had to pay 20 dinars a day for the other room??? why only he know's he was very rude and the only think he was intrested was the money not our point when we refuse to pay he send a porter to our room with some powder for the cockroaches and that was all, we still had the cockroaches roming around our room expecially at night!!! the food was hit and miss there was ox liver nearly every evening in different sauces but still disgusting!!! we had salads for most of the time there, don't go on the trips organized by the two hotel rep they were charging 50% more than doit yourself after all we did not have a nice stay at the hotel that is classified 4 star but in reality is a very basic 3 stars if that???
special needs
Hi i can understand the remarks of the other reviews but dont be put off you'll have a great time. but im writing this mainly for wheelchair users or people with mobility problems. the hotel is semi-suitable!! the rooms are all standard with shower in the bath no walk-ins but there is a lovely walk-in shower in the indoor pool room which is easy to use, this is what i did. theres two wide steps at the entrerance of the hotel but the rest is flat, compact, but a bit cobbly, but only small cobbls not big ones so theyre ok. the cobbles in the medina in tunis are massive, u can avoid them though and still get around the medina, its worth a look, a very friendly local helped us to a better path, the locals are lovely by the way, very friendly, dont take the hassling too seriously, if u just walk on they leave u alone, say 'bara' that done it for us, and if your being hassled by guys say your married to a tunisian and they leg it!! and enjoy the haggling, theres plenty of bargains to be found, stuff is very cheap, i carried a load of tiles home!! couldnt resist! wheelchaire users dont be afraid to use the hamman in the hotel or medina, it'll do u good. both are lush and the people working there very understanding but have little english, if u speak french your sorted. everyone is more than helpful so dont be afraid to ask. the guys in the entertainment team are lush, the head Emin speaks 6 languages and is so funny, as the hotel is so small they do interact with the guests quite a lot. they do nightly shows which are a scream !! not to be missed, start about 9 ish in the room next door to the restaurant. the food is nice, Ok theres not a lot of variety day to day but if u like salad or deserts your laughing, although i think the salads gave me a dicky belly so be careful and take immodium for emergencies. everyone works so hard there and they are very proud as they have been to 'college' even the waiters. any problem is dealt with immediately by the reception, u just have to tell them, it was cold when we were there so we had extrra blankets and pillows etc. the pool is nice, the massage is nice, and the kids will love the attention from the staff. try the trip to the zoo and the zulu dancing shows its fab, so is the sahara overnight trip - awesome. the medine (type of shopping centre) is also small cobbles but has lots of ramps. its only across the road from the hotel so it is well situated for walkers, the marina is nice too but has a lot of work going on at the mo although u dont notice any noise and any noise from the hotel 'disco' is over by 1am. so, hope that helps, and yes, i would go there again, the rooms are basic but cosy enough and all the paint is the 'distresed' look which makes it look a bit scruffy but its the style, the main area is lovely, look at the ceilings. most of all enjoy, from debs.c@ntlworld.com, happy to help
Awful. Awful,Awful
We booked this hotel based on the description given to us by several reps both on the telephone and internet. The amenieties were said to be a 4* hotel ideal for families and couples. It was advertised to have a FITNESS SUITE, SAUNA, SNACK BAR, and lots of other things that gained our business; IT HAD NONE OF THESE! This hotel falls way short of a 4 star as advertised. The rooms were basic to say the least. We had live electrical wires sticking out the wall! The TV did not work, "CABLE TV" was not as we knew it to be. We booked all inclusive at this hotel and I was disappointed to say the least, there were so many exclusions on the list it was not really worth it! The food was awful, with the cheapest of meats. Dinner times we had to fight our way through 200 students who had made this "IDEAL FAMILY HOTEL" as their schools trip base. The students had little or no supervision and ran riot throughout the hotel at 4am. 4 Families arrived on the same day as we did and we all requested a move for the above reasons, only 2 of the families were lucky enough. All in all one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in!
