Holiday Village, Sharm El Sheikh....
9 / 10
Jul 2007, Mrs N Holloway

Holiday Village, Sharm El Sheikh. 14.06.07-28.06.07.
The Holiday Village complex is situated approximately 15 minutes coach trip from Sharm El Sheikh Airport.
On driving through the main gates there is a lot of building/construction work still being carried out, these are further accommodation blocks, another swimming pool and staff quarters all still being built. These we were told would be completed for Xmas 2007.
You leave the reception area by a flight of stairs, and then enter the main complex. Once here there is also a block to your left of rooms that are still being worked on, although there are screens up so you can’t really see anything.
This did not cause us any concern nor were there any noise problems. We did hear a little bit of drilling when we were sat in the reception area once or twice, but nothing major by any means.
We had booked a “kids den” room which we were very impressed with. There was a huge bathroom with bath and shower, sink and separate toilet area. Kid’s bedroom had bunk beds, bean bags, play station 2, & TV. It was brightly painted with animal stickers stuck round the walls.
There were three small windows at the top of the wall which allowed the light to come through from the main bedroom. There was a separate air conditioning unit for the children’s bedroom, though to be honest we only used the one in the main bedroom as otherwise their bedroom got too cold.
The main bedroom was extremely roomy and had a huge king-size bed with three pillows across and a quilt. We had a table and chairs, TV, safe, mini bar, tea & coffee facilities.
Only gripe was the tea & coffee was never replenished, so you had to remember to pick some up from restaurant, and there was no milk so we used to get a glass from the bar each night. A large patio door opened onto the balcony and the view was spectacular, firstly over the pool and then over the jetty & sea.
You couldn’t get a better view anywhere in my opinion.
The main swimming pool was superb and varied in depth, but it wasn’t too deep in any part. Separate kids pool with slides/jets/water buckets. There was another pool too which the entertainment team did rafting/canoeing etc in. Next door to the kids club there was also another tiny inside swimming pool. Further pool was available in the health club.
The kids club was outstanding; they operated from 10.00-11.30, 12.00-1.30, 2.30-4.00, 4.30-6.00 & 7.00-9.00pm. Both my kids had such a great time that they kept begging to go back. Staff were excellent and really friendly, & couldn’t do enough for the kids.
The food in the main restaurant was of a good quality and there was always something to eat. The soup was lovely and there was always a huge selection of bread. Most nights there was a choice from a fish beef or chicken dish, with vegetables, rice, or potatoes.
There is a pasta station where the chef cooks it while you wait, with your choice of ingredients. Good selection of deserts/pastries and fruit for pudding.
For breakfast there was a vast selection of bread/croissants/cakes & pastries. Omelettes & pancakes cooked to order. Sausages (beef or chicken), baked beans, grilled tomatoes, scrambled/boiled eggs, and hash browns. There was also a selection of cereals, yogurts, & jams/honey.
You can eat in the main restaurant at lunchtime too, but we mainly ate from the bbq which offered burgers/sausages/chicken, French fries and salad.
There were 3 ala carte restaurants, Chinese/Thai, Indian & Mediterranean. Our favourite was the Mediterranean and they served a fabulous steak. In the Chinese you are able to see through the glass window and watch them cooking the food. Never tried the Indian as I don’t like Indian food.
All the reps/in 2 action/entertainment team were outstanding and in my opinion did a fantastic job, the entertainment was good and you didn’t get pressurised to join in the activities during the day, they just told you what was on offer and what time it was on and then left it up to you if you wanted to take part.
On leaving the HV by the beach path if you follow it to the left you come to the Laguna Vista hotel next door, there is a little parade of shops where you can get crisps/biscuits/drinks/sun cream etc and there are also some little souvenir shops here too. We got some necklaces & bracelets and they were really cheap.
It was about a 10 minute walk up to the Coral Sea Resort and you are able to use the jetty here as well as the one at the HV. There is a selection of sunbeds on the beach and there are also some double sunbeds on the beach which swing.
The fish restaurant on the beach wasn’t open along with the beach bar, zip wire but this didn’t affect our holiday in anyway. The indoor entertainment area was opening on the night we left.
Hope that all of you yet to go have a truly great holiday; any more questions please don’t hesitate to ask. Nicky.

I’ve just come back from the Holiday Village in Sharm it is still not ready.
There’s still a lot of building work going on around the complex. There was only children entertainment going on. The best bar to go in was the sports bar and that was only finished 3 days after I arrived.
To be honest is wasn’t ready to be opened but the staff were very helpful and I’ve even getting a full refund off first choice. The drawback is that it’s in travel vouchers lol.

Hotel is not yet 100% complete with...

Hotel is not yet 100% complete with still building work being carried out at the top of the resort, but it’s mostly keep covered up and this only disturbed our holiday twice, but if you can look beyond this then its somewhere where I recommend highly.
I stayed here for 9 days and me and my girlfriend really enjoyed ourselves and will be returning here again!
We stayed in the swim up rooms which we felt was a slight let down, as they were nothing like the artist impressions that was given (more of a paddle room) but other than that they was very big and clean.
The village grounds were excellent (yet still some plants being planted) and their main pool was great with two slides. The kid’s pool was amazing with water jets and a big water bucket that tips over every 5 mins soaking anyone around, and a smaller pool for water polo and other pool games etc.
The main buffet restaurant is massive and the food is fine although didn’t really seem to change too much during our stay and the waiters were very friendly.
The A La Carte restaurants were all good with the Mediterranean by far the best (although the best dishes like duck and king prawns were not all inclusive).
The beach was the only downfall really as the beach bar was not up and running yet it seemed to be opening the day we left - typical!
As well as the shops were not complete but again will prob be open by July 07! The entertainment here was by far the best I’ve had on any holiday, and the Egyptian staff were all very friendly and couldn’t do enough to make you feel welcome, and the First Choice reps did everything in their power to help (well all but one)!
I’m sure once 100% complete this will be one of the best places in Sharm el Sheik!

Just returned. Never ever ever again with First Choice.
We had no hot water in the rooms, electric was sporadic, the beach was a mess. Building work everywhere, noise noise and more noise.
Reps with no clue, no fun at all. Demanding a full refund currently in the process. What a complete nightmare. I doubt it will be ready for another 6 months! Yes really that bad, and my whole family (along with countless others) got ill from the restaurant.
Nightmare! If you are going soon demand some money back or better change hotels.

Clearly this hotel was not ready for opening. Guests were moved into the holiday village on Sat 16th June, when building work was still being carried out 24 hrs a day.
I know because our door opened out on to the building site, we have video evidence of the extent of this. If it was in England there would be a Health and Safety issue and members of the public wouldn’t be allowed in there.
Holiday makers are being misinformed of the state of the hotel and so are the reps, as they were not prepared for the amount of complaints they were receiving.
We were misled by First Choice and spent the duration of the holiday trying to get this sorted. Not impressed with First Choices attitude to this situation at all!
