Montreal Hotel

We booked and paid for half board - allocation on arrival. When we got there they read out where we would be staying and it sounded just fine.
Then changed their minds and said we would have to go to another hotel - The Montreal at Alykes.
We got there & I asked what time dinner would be and was told they don't do half board and we would have to pay for any meals apart from breakfast.
We spent the whole week trying to track down the First Choice Rep - usually in some bar and got nowhere. All our money we had saved for trips out was spent on dinners each evening.
We had especially gone for hubby's 50th Birthday, which had to be arranged in another complex up the road. Also as a surprise to meet up with my mum who had gone to another part of the island on her first hol abroad.
Trying to sort out our troubles took so much of our time, we had little time to enjoy this hol. The Rep did nothing for us at all.
The hotel looked great from the outside, but the rooms were appalling. The bathroom had open shutters onto an air shaft which you could look across into the bathroom of the next room.
Mosquitoes seemed to breed here and came in, in hundreds. The white walls were soon a blood bath and the cleaner left the dead heaps of them on the floor.
We did have a sea view & were right on the small beach - enjoyed when we could. Opposite the front of the hotel was dried up salt water pool, which smelt rotten all the time and teemed with flies.
Alykes itself was quite quaint and other bars and restaurants really nice. People were friendly and cheered us up until early hours when we had to face another night of horror in our hotel.
This was certainly our 'Holiday from Hell' not to be repeated. We spent the whole of the following year trying to get compensation and failed.
First Choice is definitely our Last Choice now! We are thinking of trying a different Greek Island one day though.
This hol was taken earlier than 2005 (but unable to put year as not on drop down details) we just felt this tale should be told.
