We stayed at North Shore For 7 Nights this year, and although we as a family had a wonderful time, there was a few hiccups. We stayed in a camping pod, where integregated seating was supposed to be...although when we arrived...nothing of the sort was there. Fellow 'Podders' also pointed this out, which i feel dissapointing, surely it should not have been advertised in this way. The toilets were filthy, on one evening my son had walked out the shower with a dirty sanitary towel attached to his foot???? also there had been some excrement smeared down the walls in the toilet block which had been removed within an hour or so since my previous visit, one particular member of staff a young boy who seemed to be working in the morning, dark curly haired lad made constant unnessercary comments to my wife (one being...are you cold?...i can see your nipples are) Other than that a lovely holiday had by all.
Nowhere in our literature or website do we advertise the camping Pods as having "integrated seating", so we are unsure why this visitor believed there to be. This is an unfortunate review, as we have received so much positive feedback on this new type of basic accommodation. If the Pods had "integrated seating", it is something we would most definitely advertise, believe me! Also, we actually stress how basic the Pods are: basic tiled carpeting, a dual power point, a small window and room to put your own chairs on the decking at the front. 'Basic' is the key word. As for the remainder of this review - the alleged dirt and the alleged remarks made by one of the cleaning staff - complaints of that nature would surely provoke anyone to charge into Reception (quite rightly) to vent their spleen. We had no such complaint on either matter. As such, we cannot comment on this.

Well it was my first british holiday as we tend to go abroad. I was so impressed with the friendliness of ALL the staff. We were made so welcome. We stayed in a chalet with 2 adults and 2 kids, the chalets were clean and comfortable and more than basic enough. Loads of places on site for my little ones to play safely and they made so many friends. We went over to the pitch and putt pub, WOW how friendly the staff are, the food was fantastic and the portions were huge. It was my daughters 7th birthday and they organised a cake and balloons etc for her, the staff and guests also sang happy birthday. The owners and staff try their hardest to make you happy and enjoy a good chat with the customers....Will for sure be going back....

Terrible holiday. Poor facilities, the shop stock was very limited and expensive, bar prices were steep and dog walk area was very small. The positive points were that the children enjoyed the playpark area provided and fortunately the weather was good.
The shop stock is admittedly basic, but provides all the essentials. As we can't compete with nearby Tesco, Morrisons, and Co-Op, there is little point in us having a wide ranging stock. We can never beat their prices and get complaints about that, so again, having lots of stock is futile. As for the lack of facilities - we have all the basic facilities (and more, I'd say) as per any typical caravan site. Pub/club with entertainment, Wi-Fi hotspot, kid's room with soft-play area playground, tennis, mini golf, 9-hole pitch and putt golf, shop, very close to town centre and beaches....I'm not quite sure what other facilities this reviewer expected. Also, all our details are published openly on our website and in our brochure if they asked for one. Most people check out their holiday venue prior to visiting.

Just got back from a weeks stay in a self catering park home,
The site was very clean and tidy and the staff very helpful. I'm glad i never read any of the negative reports that have been posted as that is not how i saw it.
The home we had was very clean and plenty of space for 4 adults and a small dog.
I would recommend the club house - Pitch and Putt to all, excellent staff very well run and very welcoming. Food was brilliant value.
Thank you to all the staff.

Just signed in here to do a review and saw the one before me about the apartments. The 8 in our group stayed inb a chalet and a caravan and had no probs with cleanliness. Although, we did notice the microwave needed a bit more of a clean, mentioned this to the office, and they sent someone out immeditely to clean. Maybe other reviewer didn't ask.
The entertainment was also fine...not Take That, but what do you expect? Pub grub great...cook does a cracking portion! And yeh, shop is more expensive than Tesco, but what small shop isn't?
Would def. go again. Staff at site v. nice and friendly,a nd a great location (agree with other reviewer there) to Skeg town centre.

Just got back from a week at this place. In true British tradition we stuck it out until the very end spending as much time "out" of the accomodation as possible.
LOCATION
Excellent location. 10 to 15 mins walk to the town centre and sea front. 10 mins drive from Fantasy Island and Butlins
ACCOMODATION
Shakespere Apartments(top floor)
When we made the booking we were told that that the apartments were basic, which was fair enough......what we weren't told was that the apartment was FILTHY. On opening the door we were hit by the smell of cigarette smoke and a stale smell. The carpets, settee and chairs were stained with god knows what and smelled of cigarette smoke. The top sheets of the bed were clean (we didn't dare look underneath). One of the kitchen cupboards had stale biscuits scattered over two shelves(obviously not cleaned by the "cleaners") and the kettle needed to be binned due to the amount of scale inside. The kitchen utensils and crockery were a mis matched bundle (obviously from a car boot sale) and all needed a good clean. The decor was very shabby and could do with some TLC......
The apartments are near to the club so you will get noise from the...... erm "entertainment" (see below)and people leaving the club late on.
AMENITIES
Site shop = AVOID except for buying your papers. Prices are extortionate and stock is very limited. Use the CO-OP just a short walk over the main road.
The Club = Split in half, one side for the under 14s and junior entertainment and the other for over 14's, Adults and Blue rinse brigade.
Bar prices are expensive but that is par for the course for these places. All the hard surfaces in the bar were sticky and not cleaned properly. The clientele in the bar is mainly over 50's who are there for the twice nightly Bingo sessions, which go on forever. Once this is over the place empties dramatically and you are left alone with the erm...... "Entertainment" lol
The nightly "entertainment" consists of a solo artist, always dressed in black (god knows why?) "singing" along to poor Karaoke tracks through poor P.A. The most recent song we heard was Racey's Some Girls from the late 70's Everything else was from the 60's. Every flaming night (I kid you not!!!) Each "Artist" made Vic Reeves' Club Singer sound like Pavarotti!!!.... So bad it was really funny!!!!
Food in the club is apparently good and reasonably priced. We never dared venture there.....
I'm told the caravan accomodation is very good..... just avoid the apartments.
We did have cleaning problems with the contractors we used last year. We admit that. That said, we do not expect visitors to "stick it out" - a simple word to Reception, and we would have sent cleaners over straight away. Myself and my staff would even have helped. We have changed cleaners and the system, so this year should prove much better. As I have said in another response, yes, the shop has limited stock - hence it being called a convenience store. And again, we will never match the prices of supermarkets. Sorry.

All the reviews on here seem a little dated!
We've just been in August 2010 and had a great time. The facilites are good, the staff all very helpful. Location is great - you're so near town centre but can't hear the hussle n bussle etc. Good for kids, things to do. We stayed in a tourer and my parents stayed in a chalet. We all thought it was good. Accommodation was nice and the tourer pitches well managed and good price.
Will definitely be visiting again soon hopefully. The only thing we'd complain about is lack of sun in August!!! We told Reception and they even offerd to try and fix that for our next visit!

I have just put a review on but then realised I forgot to mention something -please read my other review for more details. I thought it was very important to mention the noise - all the apartments are very near the site club which is extremely noisy, so much so that it is hard to hear your tele on a night, maybe not so bad if you are out till closing time but we have young kids so was always in on a night. The noise stops about 11pm but on a weekend is more like midnight.

North Shore Holiday centre is only a short distance from Skegness, 0nly a 10 to 15 minute walk or less than 5 mins in the car.
We stayed in the Tennyson Apartments in August 2008, they are meant to be the 'luxurious' apartments out of all the ones they have, if this is the case then I would hate to see the others!!
The apartment smealt of smoke, I did think it was illegal for people to smoke in them but they still have ashtrays in and I noticed someone smoking in an apartment. We had a first floor apartment, the advantages were it was very roomy and well equiped. I would recomend taking your own kettle, we ended up buying one to use as the one in the apartment was full of scale. The carpets and sofas were filthy. We stayed in a first floor apartment, if you do decide to go the ground floor apartments are definately the better option as have ceramic tiles throughout so would be alot cleaner.

Got back about two days ago and the kids are already wanting to go back. Was also great that the weathermen didn't get everything right and we had an ok week - even got a little tan! The site is well-maintained and the staff are all pleasant. The apartment we stayed in had all the essentials - nothing snazzy, but just what we'd wanted. Another good thing is that the accomodation on the site is away from the main road, not like many of the other sites we saw whilst around. Now we're looking at possibly owning a static caravan here. Oh yeah... the pub on the site serves fab grub! Think we came back a little more porky!

North Shore Holliday Centre 2007
We went to the holiday park in the main season (August) only to be very disappointed with the lack of facilities for a large caravan park
The all weather pitches are pretty good, except for the shared water supply which has to be shared between four vans and causes many arguments.
I was amazed the prices which was more than their local rival the Richmond Holiday Centre, which means in August, we would have saved £15.50 staying with them, especially when you look at the difference between North Shores facilities and theirs.
There is a lack of a swimming pool, fitness centre and a proper entertainment centre, instead you get a pitch and put course which is good but the land could be put to better use, crazy golf which is badly maintained, tennis courts which is a total waste of time and a lawn bowling green (where is the ditches at each end).
The onsite club must be the worst in Skegness when you consider it is suppose to cater for families.
The children’s room only offers a clown to entertain the children which is only cool to children under six years of age, and the appalling music (the same songs every night drives both parents and children mad).
If you go on holiday has a family then generally you wish to be entertained has a family and not have your kids in one room and the parents in another, ( I know few parents who could last more than 30 minutes listening to that clown and her music).
As for the entertainment in the main room (14 and over – why! It's not the licensing laws), well I am 41 years of age but the stars lined up was too old for a retirement home, if fact most of them should be put in a home, 90% of the songs where hits before 1975 and most of the artists couldn’t even be bothered to buy proper backing tracks, instead they have ripped them off Karaoke disc.
The entertainment is deliberately aimed at the retired caravan owners and not at the paying visitors who vastly make up the majority from June to September, although most of them we talked to avoided the onsite club.
The site should consider asking their guest, especially those with children what they think of the club and their other facilities.
If you plan to stay here you should be prepared to walk into Skegness town for some nightlife but Skeggy offers very little for families because if you find a good bar you will be forced to sit in the kid’s room, that’s something that went out with the ark abroad.
On Site Ratings:
Pitch 7/10
Daytime Facilities: 2/10
Nigh time Facilities 1/10
Parts of this post do seem somewhat misplaced. Mr Branson would have known the price on booking, so I don't understand why he didn't book elsewhere. Also, people save money on our site by not having to either drive or get public transport into Skegness as we are so near. The Club was not that bad in 2007 and is usually packed during peak season. And the e "blue rinse brigade" (an unnecessary description, I feel) do like this type of music and ask for it all the time. As for the comment "most of them should be put in a home"...that seems unnecessary also. We have customers who have been visiting us every year for 30 years. We're not ashamed of that. For the record, the Club is under new management this year who have retained some of the same entertainers for our repeat customers, as well as introducing some new talent.

We recently stayed at the North Shore Holiday Centre in one of their Gold Standard caravans. The caravan was fantastic, very clean, modern and much bigger than i expected. I was particularly impressed with the kitchen and bathroom, both were fully equipped and the fixtures and fittings were much better than i would have expected (the shower was great). I have a small baby and the travel cot and high chair provided were good quality and clean (i know from experience how difficult it is to properly clean a highchair!) and the caravan generally was a clean safe environment for our crawling baby to explore. The area around the caravans was very well taken care of and the rest of the site looked pretty and well looked after. the site was near the beach but also easily accessible to the centre of the town.
we went in the week before the easter holidays and found the site very quiet and peaceful (we were very lucky with sunny and hot weather). We had no problems during our stay and I would recommend this as the perfect site for a family break!
