The Qunci Villas are situated in a quiet area on the east coast of Lombok with views back over to Bali. They are situated directly between the road and beach, the restaurant and pool being at the beach end and the reception area being at the road end.
All the villas, around twenty, are situated in the well managed gardens. There is a central path that runs from one end to the other with trees interspersed around to give privacy for the rooms.
The Qunci prides itself for giving personal service and within an afternoon of being there all the staff seemed to know our names. Service was faultless, with plenty of attention to the ‘little things’. An example, all sun beds have a beach towel carefully rolled with a flower inserted at the end and carefully placed at the foot of the sun bed in readiness for your arrival.
To get a drink all that is required is a gentle raise of the hand. Breakfast in the room? – Not a problem. The Qunci is geared for relaxation, so no TV or radio in the room. You don't even miss it after the first day.
Worth a seperate mention - the sunset. Qunci Villas is perfectly set for viewing the sunset from the infinity pool or sun bed, ideally with a cocktail in your hand. They even have a happy hour (or two) to assist in doing this. They think of everything.
If you want to eat away from Qunci, there are not any restaurants within easy walking distance, apart from some other hotels around the bay. A trip into the local town, Sengigi, will take around five minutes. Either book a taxi or call the restaurant, they will normally send a car for you and return you at the end of the evening.
Some reviews have mentioned the fact that there is a school and a mosque opposite the Qunci, we personally did not have an issue with this but be aware that the first call to the mosque is early in the morning (possibly six am) and may wake you if you are a light sleeper. I don’t think the mosque is noisy it’s more a case of the area is so quiet.
Some trips to do while at the Qunci, tour the island – a real eye opener. Snorkel / dive at Gili Nangu – a private island you will nearly have to yourselves.
