What a transformation!!

Apr 2009, jdeas

Having stayed in the cosy cottages many times (but not in the last 12 months) we decided to go back to Irton in style and stay in copeland house. It was fantastic! All modern, massive bedrooms, luxury baths and a living/dining room the size of my house!
The relativly new owners have certainly worked hard over the last year. The grounds are spotless. No more long grass. Picnic benches dotted around.
We were lucky enough to be shown round the next property that had just been completed but was awaiting furniture. Clock Tower. Another fantastic property. A huge decking area at the back of the property with great views. Going to sleep about 10 i believe.
Will definatly be back.

Great! Just the thing for the kids (aged 6 and 4). Except:
The Hall is a dump. It went bust a couple of years ago and is in receivership. Starting at the beginning:
The petting zoo is gone, defunct and derelict
The play area equipment is broken, derelict and positively dangerous
The tree house is a death trap with a rotten and broken ladder
The fully licensed café bar has been closed for some time and is derelict
The traditional style cottages are complete with loose lintels around the windows (dangerous)
Piles of builders’ rubble and domestic waste EVERYWHERE
The garden area is replete with broken plastic chairs, un-mowed “garden” and broken washing line
The high interior standards include the most uncomfortable bed I have ever attempted to sleep in
The video didn’t work
Doors were hanging off the kitchen units
No two glasses matched
The washer/dryer didn’t dry
Wardrobe doors had to be forced open because they jammed on the carpet
The power shower wasn’t
No baby sitting service available (the place was more or less deserted)
Repossession notices served on four of the cottages while we were there!
The invisible housekeeper was just that. At 4.05PM on the first day she cleared off home to Workington and we never saw her again, having to post the keys back through the letter box
