What a lovely resort for a young family. The apartments are massive and very well equipped, and it has two lovely big pools, one next to the bar and restaurant that the entertainer caters for, and a quieter one. The entertainer was terrific, and organised games for both... more

This is a lovely complex. We are 30 and took our 8 month old daughter and were very comfortable. The setting is idyllic, the apartments are very clean. We loved the pool area best - it is astroturfed so no burning feet or slippy tiles. The pools are not heated but are great... more

one of the best holidays we have had
We have just returned from Tropical Park and can recomend this place to anyone. The comments about the selling of timeshare deals are not very fair,if you tell them you are not interested they leave you alone. The staff are amazing,Thomas and Nicki the Managers will bend over backwards to help. Some of the comments on this forum relate to the old way the complex was run, believe me the new staff and Managers will help, give you a good time and go out of there way to sort out any problems you may have. As a finisher the deal is not normal timeshare just have a word with Jeff and Thomas and you will then understand what i mean, plus the new luxery apartments will blow your minds. Try the place and have a good holiday!!!!!
Bad luck! reviewed by a family from Manchester
I have just returned from a fortnight's stay at the Tropical Park with my two daughters aged 16 and 12 and my parents both in their late 70's. I have no complaints about the staff and the accomodation. The complex was very clean and the rooms were kept spotless with frequent changes of bed linen and towels. The early evening entertainment was very good with a very efficient waiter/waitress service round the poolside. However, unlike some of the reviews, posted a couple of years ago, I would have to disagree with the comments that this is a very relaxing place to stay with the activities being non intrusive. If you are unfortunate to be placed in any of the apartments on the side of the bar area where the later entertainment takes place and you want a decent nights sleep you will be very disappointed. Please don't get me wrong, I have no problem with those individuals who like to stay up until the early hours (the bar closed at 2.30 a.m.) and stay in bed until midday nursing hangovers. However, there was no cosideration given to those people who preferred to sleep after midnight and get up earlier in the morning to do some sightseeing. The doors were kept open to the bar and no attempt was made to ask those in the bar to leave quietly at 2.30 a.m Consequently, the noise on some nights was almost unbearable. It was noted that the individuals, who were responsible for making the noise in the early hours, ensured that their towels were laid on the sunbeds as early as possible and then proceeded to disappear (probably back to bed) for a couple of hours. Who said the Germans hogged the sunbeds, I'm sorry to say I was embarrassed to be British on this holiday as all the problems were related to the British!!!! It's a shame as the complex was really lovely, just a shame about some of the Brits who were staying there who liked the sound of their own voices. I must, before I sign off, praise the night security men who did their best to try and keep the trouble makers at bay. They did have to call the police on one occasion during our stay so theirs was a thankless job! Good luck and here's hoping that you have a pleasanter experience than we did.
What a shock
We ended up at the Tropical Park last July and what a shock we had. We travelled there via RCI who intimated that the resort was one of their good ones and the reviews we had read seem ok. When we arrived the accomodation booked was a one bedroomed apartment with a double bed settee in the lounge (sleeps 4 total) but unless you only had one small child it was useless. We upgraded to a two bedroomed place(which we paid an extra £420).It was better but the standard of the kitchen and bathroom was poor. The maids did come 5 days a week and cleaned. The location of the Tropical Park was very very quiet, I don't like the high life but a little bit of life other than a few English bars would have been welcome. The taxi ride to Las Americas was approx 18 Euros one way and was only approx 10/15 mins, an expensive night out, it was dearer coming back after 10.00pm. The bus service ran once an hour and took about 45min to an hour. Martin the entertainer was very good but the whole programme was based round staying on site and never moving. The noise level around the pool was very loud during the day, lots of teenagers being rough and the language left a lot to be desired especially when you are with young children. Most of the people were from the Uk and had been before and never moved from the apartments. If you did not want to participate in the on site entertainment there was not much else you can do in the area. During our 2 weeks there we were informed of 3 burglaries!! On the whole a very disappointing holiday and would not recommend it to any one.
loved
I first visited Tropical park in July 00 from then on I was hooked, I have now bought one and have visited many times over the past few years. I have two young kids this is a very child friendly hotel. The staff are great although they do seem to go through a lot of entertainers in the down stairs pool side bar area, also the life guards seem to change from year to year. Alex was the life guard just over a year ago when I visited who was brilliant with my 3 year old. Dougie & Thomas were great behind the bar at the pool side. Paco was a great entertainer but we have had a few over the years, Mostafa & heather to name a few both great with the kids. My 7 year old loved the kids entertainment and the karaoke at night in bar Tropical, also the straw game was good for all round entertainment that the kids can get involved in, I'v never seen so many people chasing after a straw...... Ask Dawn to explain. Although this is timeshare owned there is no hard sell if your not interested just say, Nikki and Thomas and the rest of the staff are great. watch out for the timeshare touts in the villiage and Las Americas scratch cards that you always win.... again just say your not interested and stick to it. remember you don't get anything for nothing. I met Dawn the entertainer the first year I visited as she was the entertainer in Beckhams Just down the road from the hotel, I have kept in touch with her since via e mail, text and phone, since she moved a few years ago and has done wonders in bar Tropical with Monica who works the bar at night. A few years ago before Dawn started working here this bar was not used to its full potential as it was always empty. The happy hour between 8pm and 9pm is great. Just down the hill ( which appears to get steeper each night ) there are another few bars worth mentioning, Beckhams, brilliant food, breakfast lunch and dinner all cooked by Sheila and the gang. The bar staff Kate and her hubby John, daughter Sarah & Paul to name a few of the brill staff. Got to mention Ron and his wife Lorraine and daughter Chantelle. Down the arcade next to Beckhams you have the Rat Pack owned by Ronnie and Shona from Ayr........ again great food and great company at night. Next to that we have the George, another outlet of Beckhams with Bob who runs the bar, again great company, and a great laugh if you want some good chat with background music this is the place to go. Then there is the 3 horseshoe open till 4am if you want late night karaoke. Down the front you have the red lion ( well every resort has one ) and the Irish bar Dannys again great food and entertainment. With regards to the hill you can walk through the under pass of the hotel and climb a few easy stairs or use the wheelchairs slopes for prams etc. Overall a very friendly resort where you can take things easy. A day out to the market in las Americas is recommended, along the beach front plenty of bars all competeting with each other for business 2 bottles of Dorada for 1 euro, can't beat that. I am vistiting again for 2 weeks on 30th June can't wait to see everyone again. I am sure anyone visiting this Hotel like me will love it and return again and again.
Staff great
we have just returned from a week a Tropical Park. The hotel was warm and friendly and clean the entertainment was great on the whole the complex is great. We have a child in a wheelchair and were told by our travel agent the hotel was wheelchair friendly this is not so and had to struggle to get her to the pool or any entertaiment and as there is very little to do outside the complex it was not one of our best holidays if you like walking in the evening as we do then this is not the area for you as nothing but hotel for miles and only aprox 10 shops
Relaxing Fortnight
This is our third visit to Apartmentos Tropical Park, Callao Salvaje and was as enjoyable as our first visit. We had a very relaxing holiday, which could have been more active, if we had chosen to be active as there is a wide range of activities on offer. The accommodation is generous in size and well maintained. It provides every comfort (including an iron which I use only as a last resort!) This time, we also booked an apartment for friends who have teenage children. They were all delighted with what Tropical Park had to offer in the way of facilities. On the one occasion they decided to go somewhere off site, our friends had to literally 'drag' the children away. There was enough going on to keep them happily occupied for the 2 weeks we stayed. This resulted in our friends also having a totally relaxing holiday and they assure us that they will definitely be going back. Although we often eat in the Bar/Restaurant at Tropical Park (where they serve an excellent range of food) there are a number of excellent eating places which we used during our stay. The resort has also recently acquired a Coffee Shop which provides home made scones and cakes - a must for all of those with a sweet tooth! Alas our two weeks passed all too quickly and we are now checking flights for our next visit.
Above average hotel and facilities
I stayed here with my girlfriend in september 2001. We had a room where we could see the pools but weren't close enough for noise to cause a problem. The room was plenty big enough, with good kitchen facilities and a balcony. The poolside bar was great. We took an option to buy 3 meals in advance including the traditional canarian food. This was ok, but not great. I "took the plunge" and did an onsite Scuba trial in the pool and as a result am now a certificated diver! The resort was small and pretty. There were several building projects ongoing, including down by the beach. Enough restaurants etc for the two of us. We didn't hire a car but used the busses (stop outside hotel). Because the resort is small, there wasn't a huge amount to do aside from bars & shops etc but we had a fantastic time here! The hotel had entertainment and music each evening, but it wasnt so intrusive as to annoy you if you didn't attend it - standard activity including dancing, fashion shows, bingo, parrot shows etc. Having been to lots of places, we still look back at Tropical Park with special affection.
what a brill holiday
what can i say ,....................... it was a brill holiday and the staff was cool and if you go to the tropical park ask for dawn and monica as the will make you feel so warm and comfotable, and dougie will serve you a good meal, if you dont try the tropical park you dont know what you are missing
smashing place
stayed here for a week in may 2004. everything about this complex is good! its not luxurious, but its friendly and clean, and the staff are great! we had a ground floor one bed apartment, so we could walk straight out to the pool! plenty of sun beds and they dont tolerate "saving with a towel"! supermarket under hotel, good value and always has everything you need. good selection of restaurants within a a couple of hundred mtrs. try the pizza one, not for pizza but the gorgeous pasta!! they have a real italian chef and he aims to please! couldnt fault this complex, its ideal for couples and families.
