Tropical Park Reviews
" What a lovely resort for a young... "
Submitted By: Mr RM IrelandThe apartments are massive and very well equipped, and it has two lovely big pools, one next to the bar and restaurant that the entertainer caters for, and a quieter one.
The entertainer was terrific, and organised games for both kids and adults, but there wasn't anything for pre-school - but I guess thats up to the parents!
There is entertainment (bands, singers, dancers, hypnotist etc) at the bar every night till 2.00am.
The only down side was the food from the restaurant, although I wasn't full board, so maybe they make more of an effort for them.
Great surrounding area, and the zoo, aqua park and Playas des Americas are not too far away.
No Sky TV at the bar either, but there are several bars with it nearby.
I would definitely recommend the resort, but DON'T book with OTB holidays. They balls'd up our flight bookings and booked my 2 year old son on as an infant, so I had to buy a ticket for him at the check-in desk - £325 out of the holiday budget! I am claiming it back - but certainly a hassle you do not need!

Submitted By: Miss N L MartinesThere is a selection of bars and restaraunts my faves are the delphin and beckhams, titanic does excellent pizzas and there is plenty of chinese restraunts to go to.
I would also recommend the flipper uno boat trip excellent! just watch out for pervy pedro.
Also i have been told that loro parque is a must.
For transfers use el mar from tenerife reina sofia its 25 euro there and back really good efficient travel.

Submitted By: Mr E CameronThe resort is very laid back but there are about 15-20 restaurants and bars, but no beach!! Apparently one is planned though. You are advised to hire a car which we did before we went. If you don't fancy driving, there is a good bus service (every 5 minutes) to Los Cristianos and Las Americas.
There is no car park, but there is loads of space on the road outside - we got the same space outside our door for the whole week.
The only downside was the noise from the entertainment but that was just me being fussy as it was only from 9-10!
Staff were very helpful. Our wee one took ill and at 5 in the morning they organised a doctor who was with us within half an hour. The welcome meeting is cheesy but you get free sangria!!
There is an onsite supermarket which is very cheap and gives a 5% discount to residents.
We would recommend you visit Buzzin Bar for a great breakfast and Bonnie's Tea Room for some of the best cakes you will ever see. (Really!)
Al in all, a very nice resort, great for all ages. If you want loud music, clubs and bar crawls, this is not for you - Las Americas is your best bet. Callao Salveje is expanding and building work is ongoing and apparently a beach will be added. There is no construction noise and the views aren't spoiled. Travel here with complete confidence. I am sure you will love it.

Submitted By: Mrs A DalyYou couldn’t fault the rooms; they were cleaned every day apart from Sunday.
The apartments have two great size pools and two baby pools, a restaurant and bar also on site. The staff were fantastic and always went out of the way for you especially "Mohammed"; all the staff also spoke good English.
Entertainment all the time, day and night. Also a few good restaurants around Callao Salvaje. If you wanted to go into Las Americas I would recommend travelling by bus as it is 15 euros each way in a taxi. Great bars and restaurants there too, a bar for the family is Wali Haii and a brilliant restaurant is Marios who makes the whole family welcome.
I would highly recommend Tropical Park.

Submitted By: Mrs D HarrisEntertainment is every day/night except Friday (change over day), water polo/volley ball, killer darts/pool etc. are organised during the day and the evening there are shows which you can join in. Milo the entertainer is fantastic and puts himself out to help you even when he is off duty.
The apartments are clean and a good size, with an iron & ironing board if needed, satellite TV and a large safe where you can store cameras etc, when not in use. Maid service is good.
The restaurant food and service are excellent, Carlos, Darcil and Mohammed are great and have time for you.
Try Jungle Park in Arona kids will love it and not expensive either.
Cannot wait to go back in October!

Submitted By: RondettoHowever, the resort is not geared up for family holidays, there is very little to do in the day or the evenings. There are several cafes/bars and that's about it.
The Tropical Park complex was clean and well maintained, our room was acceptable and the evening entertainment passable. For evening entertainment and a good selection of bars etc, you have to pay about 16 Euros each way to go into Playa de Las Americas.
The complex is about 100 mts to a rocky/pebbled beach. It is approximately 18 miles to the airport which will cost about 30 Euros by taxi.
A few days into our holiday, we locked our windows and door and went out for the afternoon. We arrived back at the complex to find the window open and our room had been burgled. Of course we had made sure it was locked before we went out.
We had to hire a taxi to the Police station in Playa de Las Americas, the hotel refused to pay for this. No one in the station spoke English, we managed to get a police report, but in Spanish. I would warn anyone travelling to this resort, and this complex, beware of burglars and be warned this is not a resort where you will find any sort of nightlife.
In short, we lost £600 worth of items some of which were the children’s play stations and I Pods. The staff at the Tropical gardens were to say the least arrogant and most unhelpful to our losses.
This is one complex and one resort I cannot recommend to anyone.

Submitted By: Mrs SharpesIf you are like me and like to sleep before 2am then this is not the apartment for you. (unless you take your ear plugs ). The entertainment was good, some repeated in the 2nd week. No entertainment Friday.
Maid service every day except Sunday. Quiet resort with a few nice places to eat. Not bothered once with timeshares. There is no beach but plenty in the other resorts near by. Buses stop every hour outside the hotel. Didn't think much of the water park, loungers (3.5 euros ) doughnuts (7 euros) each.
A very expensive day out. Tidei was a really good day out. Cable car to the top was nearly as much as the trip, but well worth it. If you have teenagers like me and they’re missing their computers, then there is an internet cafe by the chemist.
A very enjoyable holiday would go back but ask for another apartment. Very friendly and helpful staff. A lot of stairs and no lifts. 2 good sized pools. Washer and drying machines by the pool area.
This is a holiday for those looking to relax and unwind, if you want night life then Americas is a 40 min bus ride. Be careful with taxis they charge what they like.

Submitted By: Mr K PittThe apartments are of a good standard and most suitable for a family of four, although better apartments are available.
Callao Salvaje is not a live wire area but it does have one or two very good restaurants in the village and surrounding area.
Two pools, good staff to look after you sunshine (most of the time) top class food and a restful atmosphere what more could you want.

Submitted By: Ms E SpillaneThe site has 2 swimming pool's, one with an on site pool bar/restaurant and I will have to give credit where it is due, the bar people where ever so nice and spoke fantastic English. One person in particular was ''Carlos'' who was ever so pleasant and graceful.
The resort also has a bar that open's in the evening which is great fun for a karaoke session or even just a relaxing drink, and of course ''Dawn'' the main bar person was a great laugh and helped make everyone feel like a free spirit to thoroughly enjoy their evening.
The entertainment is ok, the highlight of the entertainment in my opinion was an Abba tribute that was on one night otherwise is was just average. But the ''Tropical Bar made up for the loss''
The only downfall of the week I had was with the cleaners. I asked a few times for towels to be replaced but after 2 days they where still left there.
The area of Callao Salvaje is a lovely relaxing area. Everything essential like medical facilities, shops and transport is all nearby. It's not a type of place if you're looking for a mad holiday, but defiantly a type of place if you want to do things at your own pace. Believe me fun can be achieved if you seek it. As they say ''You Make Your Own Fun'' There are 3 or 4 main bar's that would stay open until the early hours of the morn. Must see bars - ''The 3 Horseshoes with the witty Heather who would brighten anyone's day & Beckhams Bar''.
Overall I had an absolutely superb holiday and Tropical Park is the perfect resort for a ''Please Yourself Holiday''. Also a special Thank You to those mentioned above who truly helped make our holiday, a holiday of a lifetime, that will always be remembered. I would highly recommend the Tropical Gardens Resort.

Two lovely swimming pools: one noisy and busy in front of bar / restaurant area and one quieter at the top of the complex, both with separate children’s pools. No problem with sunbeds (free) but umbrellas E9 per week to hire. VERY family friendly, quiet and peaceful.

Callao Salvaje itself is no more than a street leading to beautiful rocky coastline (no beach here) with the usual bars and restaurants. All are quiet, all welcome children, all serve the same-ish menus at the sameish prices. We visited in the height of the season and not once did we see anything that would have upset us behaviour wise nor did we feel crowded or pushed into ‘joining in’ when we wanted to relax.

Entertainment at the complex is ‘interestingly bad’ but good for a laugh after a few drinks - they did try.

All staff very helpful and friendly, although the Airtours rep was useless (did he exist or was he just a face on a board). If you want non-stop excitement, pubbing and clubbing then this place is not for you (go to Playa de las Americas 8k away) but for peaceful, clean, relaxing, fun, child friendly holiday then this place would be hard to beat.

Hotel staff are very friendly especially Thomas, Carlos & Mohammed (restaurant staff)
The facilities are excellent. Neil the entertainer is great, entertains all ages including adults. The bar tropical is excellent from 10pm till 2am with nightly shows and karaoke for those who cant sing.
We throughly enjoyed our stay and have booked for July 2009.
Advice: A low key resort for those wanting to relax.
Activities: Tropical park restaurant, Sorpresa Sorpresa and Cafe Europa.
