Upsides and downsides Ta'Kikka

The good things: it's very spacious, has a (mostly) well-equipped kitchen, superb pool and views. The location itself is excellent - v close to Dwerba and the inland sea, and to the wilder parts of Gozo in general. The maid service is very helpful, and (most) things work. Supermarket close by - but it's expensive. Nice church in village, and Ok restaurant in the square.
The bad things: awful pillows - we had to buy new ones in order to sleep. The ones supplied are cheap and hard. Be warned - you are at the rural end of the village, and there is plenty of agricultural / animal noise early in the morning (cockerel, barking dogs etc.) so if you like to sleep late, we recommend that you keep the a/c on all night in your bedroom to maintain a constant noise level. There is an army of large (harmless) ants in the garden, and (common to all parts of Gozo) a veritable plague of tenacious flies - so, once again, keep your bedroom doors firmly closed and the a/c on, and leave no food uncovered.

My husband and I stayed at the Ta Kikka Villa for two weeks in 2008 and left a little bit of our hearts there!
The villa itself is beautiful with tons of gothic charm. It's spacious and well equipped and a perfect location to explore the stunning island of Gozo.
Luckily we didn't have a problem with rats at all unlike the other unfortunate reviewers so maybe they have cured the problem since 2001.
We loved every second of staying here and am only marking it down a point because the en suite shower leaked terribly!

My wife and I and our two...

Jun 2008, Mr Thomas Roberts

My wife and I and our two grandchildren had a two week holiday in this Villa in 2001. The Villa itself was delightful, furnished in a modern style in the main lounge area but in a sort of 'Adams Family Gothic' upstairs! The kids were terrified to go to bed the first night but they soon adjusted to the decor. The location was perfect, in a quiet area of Xhagra, but in walking distance of the (relative!) nightlife of the town square, especially the Oleander Restaurant. The Villa came with a car and so we saw most of both Islands and enjoyed an enjoyable full day boat trip around the coast of Gozo. We were all sorry when it came to the time to return home.
However, there is always a problem isn't there? Ours were Rats! They were everywhere. Not Cosmos' fault, nor the Villa's. But surely the Local Authority's. If you can put up with that then I would highly recommend this Villa (the pool could do with being a little bigger but what the hell!
Incidentally, in the corner of the Villa is a watchtower about 40 feet high with a spiral staircase leading to the top. We (well the grandkids!) found the key in one of the drawers in the bedroom furniture. It was fascinating. If it wasn't for the rats I would there!
