We went here in July for 2 week it is basic but we had no complaints, our room was cleaned daily, clean bedding every 2 days.
Theo and Nickos are great, they will help if they can and the cocktails mmmm! My son loved this place and they are good with kids, I would go back again, we met some lovely people their as well. Toni the rep is helpful, if she can.

We had 2 x rooms on the first floor facing the pool. The boys (2 x 16 yr olds and a 15 yr old) shared the corner "suite" we had next door but one.
Yes both rooms were basic, but clean. Yes bathrooms were basic and worn in places - but as a 2* hotel - no better and no worse than any other.
The breakfast (on the days we managed to get up to enjoy it) was perfectly adequate and acceptable - I can't imagine why anyone would want to eat a full grill/fry up when the temp is in the 80's and you're about to expose your carcass to the Scandinavians on the beach!!
If the rolls were not to your taste - the supermarket sold delicious croissants and pastries for the "exorbitant" price of 1 euro to supplement the top rate coffee, fruit juices, and tea.
The staff we found were not at all intrusive (could be misinterpreted as standoffish??) but every conversation or request I had with any of the staff was both friendly, enjoyable and always helpful. Even when the cleaner pointed out that the boy’s room was "uncleanable" in the time allotted to her!. They all treated the boys with great tolerance and understanding!! (Sorry they kept you awake Theo!!)
I was concerned regarding the issue of the "sewage" smell prior to arrival but can honestly say there was no problem for 3 x days. However, on the 4th, yes there it was - a distinct aroma. But as the reps had pointed out from day 1. The sewage system is antiquated and toilet paper should not be flushed down the pan.
Perhaps if more Brits heeded this request - there would be less of a problem. That being said - it wasn't too bad and disappeared after 1 x day. Another worry was the alleged loud music till the wee hours. Hmm. Yes loud music - but at least it was very, very good quality music!! and we soon adjusted to the eat late, socialise late and go to bed later than at home rhythm and honestly never really had a problem with it.
The resort was perfect for our needs - the Thalia perfectly situated. The beach was superb (7 minutes walk) and very well maintained 4 Euros for a sunbed and shade for as long as you want. The shops and restaurants were varied and interesting and fantastic value for money. Nostalgia Restaurant became our favourite with fabulous views over the bay - and giant plasma screen showing sky sports! perfect mix for us.
The nightlife was a great mix of disco bars, traditional tavernas a couple of clubs - and only 6 Euros taxi ride to Lindos if you want even livelier. Something for everyone to enjoy without encroaching on someone else's enjoyment.
To summarise: Basic hotel, excellent pool, excellent service, better than excellent location, definitely surpasses the value for money expectations.
Would we go back? YES!! Without hesitation.

This was my second time in Pefkos which is a beautiful resort. We booked last minute and it was the only place available and now I know why!
I will never stay in the Thalia again. I acknowledge it's only a 2 star and expected basic but I did not expect filthy. The place was disgusting and we had to ask for clean bedding and towels as they were not supplied regularly. The men in the hotel were quite helpful and I appreciated there wasn't much they could do, but the woman was quite frankly unapproachable and dismissive.
Self-catering implies enough facilities to cater for yourself in the time you are there. You would think so but there was no kettle, toaster, seating area and even the plates were dirty!
The tiles in the bathroom were chipped and cracked and the ceiling looked like it could fall in any minute, the window was cracked and wood had been used to prop it up. The 'cleaner' did not visit the room in the 2 weeks we were there, the smell of sewage was disgusting, and the beds, pillows and mattresses were vile. Overall, the place should be demolished and started again. They even left piles of dirty laundry in the corridors for days on end!
It was absolutely disgusting and I would never recommend it! I think we'll stick with Direct Greece in future (that's if we ever return). Luckily we've not been totally put off but will definitely keep our distance from that pig-sty!

I would not recommend the Thalia Hotel to anyone, it smelled of sewage. I stayed in room 111-112 - the bathroom was dirty, the floor was constantly wet as the water from the shower would overflow on to the floor, the drain in the bathroom floor smelled. The room had a strange smell to it. Sheets and towels were rarely changed, the balconies looked as if they were about to crumble.
The staff were not at all friendly. Breakfast was rubbish consisting of hard bread, butter that you couldn’t spread, jam and boiled egg, no cereals for the kids.
The pool wasn’t too bad although you could get the smell of sewage - I presume this came from the drains in the hotel grounds. Rowdy teenagers were in the rooms opposite me and the children were constantly kept awake at night from the slamming of doors and loud music, shouting and running up and down the hall.
Pefkos itself is beautiful and I would recommend this resort to any family.
But if you can afford to pay extra do so and book into a better hotel. As I said to my husband you get what you pay for and I would never stay in a 2* hotel again especially this one!

This is my fourth time in Pefkos and third time at the Thaila. The rooms are basic but clean. I can't understand people who complain about how basic the rooms are, what do they expect when they are paying to stay in a two star hotel. The rooms do not all have self catering facilities but if you need a plate, cup or spoon etc it is easily available.
The family who run the hotel are excellent and are always willing to help if there is a problem; my air con did not work on my arrival but was fixed straight away when somebody was informed.
Breakfast is a typical Greek breakfast and substantial, there is always the pool bar which serves snacks which are reasonably priced if you fancy something else. The food is covered over and again somebody is willing to cater for your needs if you ask.
The atmosphere at the pool bar is excellent; the music is turned down at midnight but does not stop until the last person leaves. Many couples return to the pool bar at night from different hotels because of the vibrant atmosphere.
Many reviews on this site make the Thalia sound like faulty towers, it isn't! It was the first hotel to be built in the resort and isn't as fancy as some of the others but the family who own the hotel make up for it in every respect. If you want luxury then pay for it, don't complain about what you have paid for.
A must do is Greek Night, everybody gets involved and you get a little taste of Greek tradition in terms of dancing as well as having a laugh.
Don't be put off by the reviews try the Thalia with an open mind, it is well worth the experience.

Three of us have just returned from two weeks at the Thalia. We had two rooms 207-209. After reading the reviews we were a little wary but went with an open mind.
On arrival both bathrooms were very scruffy, 207 had a well worn bath and the sealant around the bath was black. 209 the sealant was black and a repair had been made to the sink that constituted a large blob of something white.
We complained and were told that a cleaner would be sent, this never happened. The shower would not drain away and again nothing was done. We brought bleach and cleaner, cleaned both bathrooms and unblocked the shower.
The room itself was acceptable and the only cleaner for the whole Hotel really did her best and we considered her to be the only efficient person there. Linen was changed regularly. There was a regular sewage smell from the bathroom drainage in both rooms.
Air con was pre fixed and could not be adjusted. The lcd screen on the control was broken anyway. Along the corridor a large portion of wall from yet another poor repair, fell off.
Possibly the worst problem was the noise. Music began in the bar at around 10am and was ok until evening when the music gradually got louder and louder going on until the early hours followed by people around the pool shouting and creating mayhem until dawn.
I have visited Greece and Rhodes many times over the years and this is the worst hotel experience that we have had. Breakfast is so basic that people were buying cereals from the adjoining shop to have in the dining room.
We were there in a heat wave but not once was the a/c put on in the dining room or lounges. Oh yes, food was also mostly uncovered. We paid cheap and got cheap.
My advice is that unless you cannot possibly afford anything else, do not go to the Thalia.
We will most certainly not go to again or recommend the Thalia. Pekos is great so do go to Pefkos but not the Thalia.

We stayed there once before and disliked it, but there was nowhere else available.
The sheets and towels were never changed. Only the floor was cleaned every other day, the shower, sink and toilet were left dirty.
The staff were far from friendly. We decided to try out the Greek night, and were very disappointed.
I will never stay at Thalia again.

Thank you for our enjoyable stay my boyfriend had an accident with a bottle cutting his foot.
The man behind reception who bathed it for him and cleaned the wound he wishes to thank very much and also the man from the shop who took time out without hesitation to run us to the doctor to have my stitches and waited and took us to the chemist plus wanted to wait after the doctor had to go out to another patient then would not take any money for his troubles.
We wish to thank everyone and will recommend them to our friends or anybody else who asks about our holiday. Thank you very much.

Complex lovely. Rooms basic but you must visit the bar where Theo is a real star.
Nickos is really helpful and the rooms although basic were cleaned regularly. Lots of local restaurants to choose from following an entertaining night at the bar with Theo.
Reading the reviews after we had booked we were a little concerned but having spent two weeks here I would really recommend it as a cheap getaway.
Everything you could want within walking distance. For a nice meal we recommend the Spitaki taverna.

Having recently returned from a week in the Thalia, I sigh with relief, this is an awful hotel, we had a horrendous room it was dirty and the bed linen was full of holes, the pillow smelt of urine!!
There was a terrible smell in the bathroom and often we found sewage returning through the hole in the floor!
We had to move the beds to get into the fridge and the ceiling fan only worked occasionally.
I would not recommend this experience to anyone, I have lived in Greece and have experienced basic accommodation but this was beyond that.
Pefkos itself was fabulous and is well worth a holiday there just avoid this accommodation.

We went to the Thalia in July 06. We went in a group of 2 couples and 1 child.
The resort of Pefkos is rather large once you explore it.
There is one big beach with sun beds on, but if you keep walking down the main street then turn left after an English bar on the corner then walk downhill to a lovely man made beach. We used this beach most of the time as is was more secluded and has little coves with no waves. (You will see what I mean). This beach is about 10-15 minutes away from the Thalia.
The hotel itself we thought was generally ok. The first room we got was directly facing the bar and as I didn’t want to have to close the curtains every time I got changed we asked to move.
The second room was much better I believe it was 101. Off the first corridor on the left in reception, the first door on your right. This room didn’t have the kitchenette we paid for but we got a larger balcony and we were on the sunny side.
Don’t pay for the air conditioning though as if you look underneath there is a switch flick it to test and hey presto free air con. (Just don’t forget to empty the water bottle outside every morning).
The breakfast was rubbish to say the least my partner and our friend went on the first day and didn’t bother after that. But buy all means feel free to check it out.
The pool bar is a must, Theo the bar man kept us entertained and if you ask for any music he will probably have it. They did a Greek night on a Thursday I think but we didn’t go. We ate here most days and the food was quite nice. But they tend to run out of a lot of things so be quick.
A word of warning though the bar does get loud so if you don’t want to be kept up get a room round the other side. They got told of one of the nights by the police for being to noisy. But we didn’t hear anything as we were round the other side.
On the way down to the big beach there is a kebab shop, I must say its the best kebab I’ve ever had. Try it they will make it however you like.
If you’re a pool person it’s not huge but big enough and there is a kid’s pool separate and a slide in the big pool. There is a sunbathing area next to the pool but lower than water level. Don’t sunbathe there unless you want to get wet.
I hope this help you make your minds up.

Having just returned from one of the best holidays we have ever had in the lovely resort of Pefkos. We have to comment on the Thalia Hotel, having read the reviews prior to going we were rather nervous to say the least! However, we had a great time.
Ok, so the rooms are rather dated and basic but ours was cleaned each day by the hard working cleaner named Iola, and clean bedding and towels provided each day except Sunday. The pictures in the Olympic Brochure do not show the pool area and bar which are fine. The hotel is well situated and we met some lovely people who have returned to the hotel for many years.
We enjoyed great meals in all the restaurants we visited, Enigma being our favourite.
