the travellers is a great hotel,we fly back to travellers in november for 2wks. the food is very good ,fresh fish ect, as much fresh water as you like,at night the hotel comes to life, get the local drink inside you and dance the night away then next morning just lay round one off the many pools they have.

we stayed at travellers and found it to be a lovely, friendly hotel. we did however wish to go on the beach but could not due to the beach boys who harrass you for money as soon as you step foot near the beach. The 2 week holiday was therefore spent around the pool. The... more

We have been to this resort 7 times (1992-2007, 4 times as a couple and 3 times with our daughter, 3.4.9 years old). Very relaxed atmosphere, nothing to much trouble. Basic entertainment in the evening, smart casual wear in the evening is ok. Good selection of food,... more

What a fabulous place to spend our first holiday in Kenya. We were welcomed with cold drinks and escorted quickly to our rooms which were spotlessley clean & very well maintained. The whole complex was spotless and a pleasure to be in. Baboons kept us on our toes when... more

A clean well situated hotel with a choice of either half board or fully inclusive. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The rooms are well furnished and kept spotlessly clean. Although there are safes in each room I have never had to use one and my family and me have... more

Upon arrival we were greeted with a cold drink and a seat; no queuing at reception to check in! My fiancé spoke to one of the guys assisting without check in and we found ourselves upgraded to a sea-view room for no extra cost! Although the room was lovely and the view... more

great place to relax
We stayed in this hotel in March for 1 week ..... what a lovely tropical experience. we arrived and were greeted with cold flannels in reception and a cold drink , while they sorted out the room . Great friendly, happy staff that really couldn't do enough , this went for all ..... the pool boys , cleaners , waiters , bar staff even the gardener chap who climbs up the palm tree's in the ressort to keep the gardens tidy. Great location for relaxing , by the Indian ocean , listening to the sea ......... would def go there again. There was a good choice of food , the meat is so tender , just falls apart ..... the wine leaves a lot to be desired !!, but the bottle beer and the cocktails make up for it Great bar in one of the pools ..... spent hours there !
Average Hotel
The rooms were a good size, AC didn't always work, but a "technican" was sent out and eventually started working. No fans in dining hall, where it can get VERY hot, this also applies to small bar. One day(the hottest day) there was no ice for the drinks!! Hotel staff were always freindly. Food was unacceptable for vegetarians, however meat eaters should be fine. Should have been more ice cream!!! Water sports for All inclusives didn't include very many water sports, other than a paddle boat! :( Hotel was average, but wouldn't visit again!
This place is the off switch to stress
What a relaxing and restful holiday, I was looking for some rest and relaxation with sunshine. I could not have chosen a better place. Ok the mains electricity goes off once in a while but ther is a generator for main areas and besides your on holiday go to the bar and enjoy the all inclusive package you paid for and get to know some of the other guests and swop safari stories. The staff are so helpful and accomodating it cant be easy working in a place like that and being genuinely nice to people who probably earn more in an hour than they do for the week and then going back to the ramshackle villages that they live in. The hotel has good access to the beach, with post office and banking facilities virtually on the doorstep not that there is anything there to spend your money on, your better off trading your shoes and t shirts with the local beach traders its worth more to them than cash. Beware the monkeys trying to get into your room when you open the door.
Take your Imodium
We booked a late availability 14 day holiday for 4 people with First Choice to the Travellers Beach Hotel Bamburi. The initial appearance of the hotel was pleasant but the reality was anything but. The reception staff were most unhelpful and it was only the efforts of Paul, the tour company rep that got problems sorted out. The main problem is the total lack of food hygene which resulted in many of the guests having sickness and diarrhoea. The rooms are very basic and not very well kept, but having seen the cleaning equipment the staff had to cope with it was hardly surprising, brushes should have bristles! The hotel is situated on a public beach which is occupied by dozens of "beach boys" selling everything from Safari trips to fruit, you have to be quite thick skined to take a walk down the beach as you will be constantly telling people - "NO thank you". The other problem is that part of this hotel is all inclusive, which means alchohol is available from 10.00am till the last man is standing, not a pretty sight. If you are looking for a peaceful holiday with good food and comfortable accomodation this is NOT the place for you. My advice is try somewhere else.
Never again
Anyone thinking about visiting this hotel, Please Don`t. Even though we were only there for 1 week we feel that it was the worst holiday that we have ever been on. The food could not be eaten alot. (Nice restaurant on beach Jule's). No choice what so ever. Wine like vinegar and the beer was warm and flat. No activities were on offer, other than the usual table tennis. All water sports facilities were "broken" The swimming pool was so full of chlorine, everything from hair to trucks to towels ended up green. Described as 4*, nothing like it. I would be pushing to give it 2* Don`t go there, you will only be wasting your money and damaging your health.
this hotel is great
we had a great time at travellers it was so relaxing, the food was great the rooms are very clean, the staff are brilliant and nothing is too much trouble for them, the grounds are really well kept and beatiful we will definatley go again!!
Holiday Nightmare!
Fore warning for anybody thinking of going to this hotel .We run our own public house in wales. We have just visited this hotel for the last three weeks and found standards totally unnacceptable.Food was very poor and luke warm very often.Drinks , coke , fanta`s , beer flat and undrinkable daily.Whilst there we spoke to about thirty other people who had suffered badly from sickness and diarrheoa. The hotel shop ran out of imodium twice ! Due to excessive amounts of chlorine in the swimming pools,My girlfriends hair turned green .These are just a few points , there are plenty more. Do yourself a favour and look somewhere else.
happy days
Weve just returned from a week at the Travellors Beach Hotel and I can honestly say we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The staff were amazing, kind and very friendly. Rooms were basic but clean and had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. Fantastic pool and grounds. Yes the boys harrass you on the beach but they are all good fun! well worth a walk when the tide is out or in the evening. Food was good, although we were recommended a lovely Italian restaurant along the beach by some repeat travellors to the hotel, well worth a visit. Safari was good but very tiring so make sure you have a few more days to recover round the pool before flying home. Bamburi park is a must just to see Owen the rescued hippo!
don't go
I stayed in this hotel 3 years ago and it was amazing. So I went back this year and it was terrible : * very poor service; sometimes had to wait for over an hour to get someone's attention * terrible food * a lot of noise (until 2 AM and starting again from 5 AM) * the hotel manager blames it on the ALL-IN formula, but why do they offer it then?
Amazing
Amazing stay at this wonderful Hotel. Most the guests are 3 or 4 timers and return to the hotel each year Accommodation - Not amazing out of the world accommodation, but the rooms are great, functional and clean and the aircon works 100% Restaurants - Fantastic food, the buffet changes each day and offer more then healthy supply of choices. If you stay fully inclusive you also get the choice of using the italian and indian restaurant - Both are fanstic Staff - What can i say - amazing friendly and if you take the time to talk to them can offer a fantastic insight local life Beach - Like all beaches in Kenya the locals do pester you for money etc - We bought tones of great gifts and played volleyball and football with the locals, i think the key is to be firm no rude and they will leave you alone. We also booked vairous excursions with the beach boys, great value for money, so don't worry about the stories. Excursions - Mombassa Town - Bamburi Park - All the tours are great fun and good value for money Pool - Amazing - large pool Apart from that - try this one out for definte - Amazing time andy + claire
