the travellers is a great hotel,we fly back to travellers in november for 2wks. the food is very good ,fresh fish ect, as much fresh water as you like,at night the hotel comes to life, get the local drink inside you and dance the night away then next morning just lay round one off the many pools they have.

we stayed at travellers and found it to be a lovely, friendly hotel. we did however wish to go on the beach but could not due to the beach boys who harrass you for money as soon as you step foot near the beach. The 2 week holiday was therefore spent around the pool. The evening entertainment was a nightmare. it consisted of disco music every evening and as our room was situated opposite the dancefloor we did find it quite loud! The food was fine, very fresh and healthy although it seemed to be the same sort of food every day and so by the end of the holiday you are fed up of eating fish and salad! You are offered a voucher for a free meal in one of the onsite restaurants which i would not recommend! we chose the indian restaurant and regretted it about an hour later!!! We did meet a couple of african workers who worked around the pool who sold us 2 boat trips. They were very friendly and spoke to us every day even after we had been on their trip. The boat trips were amazing and well worth the money. Overall the hotel was great and it was a fantastic way to celebrate our engagement!

We stayed one night in this dirty place before transfering next door to baburi beach hotel. Travellers beach is dirty the food disgusting and as for the pool, i wouldnt let a fish swim in it. Your not told before you go that it is illegal to sunbath on the beach not that you could anyway because the beach boys just wont leave you alone, hence guards are on hand from all beach hotels. How anyone can do all inclusive at a beach hotel is beyound me, people sat around playing boards games and drinking (cheap rubbish)
The only good thing about travellers beach is the door out.
We should have done a 14 night safari because 4 days was not long enough. Clean lodges fantastic game viewing it was breath taking.

We have been to this resort 7 times (1992-2007, 4 times as a couple and 3 times with our daughter, 3.4.9 years old). Very relaxed atmosphere, nothing to much trouble. Basic entertainment in the evening, smart casual wear in the evening is ok. Good selection of food, breakfast is self service and includes eggs and pancakes cooked as you request by the chef in front of you. There is a self service lunch and evening meal with plenty of selection although repeated over the fortnight but we also ate out within the fortnight at local Italian within short walking distance on the beach, which I might add does excellent ice-creams, steaks, burgers and pizzas. Snacks can be obtained through out the day, drinks too, the waiters very good with the children and always ensured they were topped up with pop.
The pools are great with entertainment at the larger one and the other is equally as large but made up of small pools linked with gentle slopes. You can try scuba diving and our daughter got her Padi bubble maker award on the last visit. Dive sites are good and I have seen white tip reef sharks, turtles, eels, octopus and many different fish, which are well worth the dive. Other water sports are available to.
There is a Doctor if you require, (which we did as our daughter had an ear infection) which was quickly treated and medication delivered to the hotel. Cost was very reasonable.
There are gift shops in the hotel very reasonable priced with excellent gold too, cash, travellers cheques and cards accepted.
Distance from airport is about 1/2hour, good location for Croc Park and Bamburi Nature Trail, here you can feed the giraffe's and watch feeding of other animals. A small mall is a short taxi drive away, useful to pick up those forgotten items or to restock. There is a Barclays Bank and post office a 2 minute walk from hotel.
We have been on few safari's and the accommodation varies, the best we and most memorable was at Salt Lick where the elephants came to the watering holes in an evening.
If you want to dress up in your finery then this is not the place BUT if you want relaxing, chill out time this hotel is excellent value for money. When we book for Kenya we look for who has this hotel first, then which tour operator has the best deal. Its the hotel we come back for.

What a fabulous place to spend our first holiday in Kenya. We were welcomed with cold drinks and escorted quickly to our rooms which were spotlessley clean & very well maintained.
The whole complex was spotless and a pleasure to be in. Baboons kept us on our toes when placing sugar bowls etc on tables but that just added to the fun!
The swimming pools were brilliant and again clean & well maintained. The restaurant was really nice and the waiters were so helpful & friendly. Our waters Francis, Kennedy, Julius & Rosie were wonderful. I was poorly on the 3rd day & Dr Kennedy!!! came to my aid, diagnosed & treated the problem & within a few hours I was fine again.
We learned a lot about African habits & customs from them which was nice. They also helped me with learning some basics of the language. The food was very nice and varied with theme nights for each evening menu. We had a couple of meals in the Italian restaurant which was in the main complex & I can thoroughly recommend the pizzas.
The only complaint I would have about the whole place is the beach boys who will try to sell or beg anything of you. We had to be quite firm with them when we wanted to go for a swim in the ocean. They will listen in the end & leave you alone, but you have to just walk away & say no. We went on the Shadows of Kilimanjaro safari which was brilliant and our Driver Bakari was so helpful and knowledgeable about the animals it made the trip more special for us.
The lodges we stayed at were 1st class and we had a full programme of drives in the parks to see "The Big 5". We also went on a trip on a Dolphin Dhow which was arranged through our rep. This was a fantastic day out & well worth the money. We picked people up from other hotels both on this trip & on the way back to the airport & ours seemed by far the best. When we go back to Kenya we will definately stay at Travellers Beach again.

A clean well situated hotel with a choice of either half board or fully inclusive. The staff are friendly and very helpful.
The rooms are well furnished and kept spotlessly clean. Although there are safes in each room I have never had to use one and my family and me have been 5 times!
It is a safe environment close to banks and shops supermarket is only a short ride on local mutata(mini bus) or taxi which ever you prefer.
The food is of a very high standard with themed menus each day. The night time entertainment is excellent provided by local entertainer can be African dances ,magic show ,fashion parade or musical evening with local bands.
I have no hesitation on recommending this hotel ,there is something for everyone young or old. It has swimming pools starting in the hotel foyer meandering to large pools outside, these are always well cared for.
It is situated right on the beach .Nothing is too much trouble for the staff at travellers. Somak reps are there daily for any extra help you may need.
All in all everyone makes your holiday one to remember be it your first visit or one of many.

Upon arrival we were greeted with a cold drink and a seat; no queuing at reception to check in! My fiancé spoke to one of the guys assisting without check in and we found ourselves upgraded to a sea-view room for no extra cost!
Although the room was lovely and the view beautiful; the only problem was being on the ground floor however, was the beach boys. They were always doing something and there was slight noise every morning but this was acceptable.
The room was next to the main pool and all facilities. Within the All Inclusive complex [the other hotel building contained the Half Board patrons] everything was close by and a 2 minute walk away at most.
The hotel staff were friendly and always happy and charming. They quickly got to know us and asked everyday how we were and enquired about any trips that we went on. The food was good, however the variety was lacking. Luckily I eat most things and could always find something to enjoy, but my other half is rather fussy.
The good thing about having half the hotel as Half Board was that there were restaurants available within the Half Board complex that All Inclusive guests were able to use; with a 20% discount if the bill was paid in cash.
The food was great there and a margarita pizza cost the equivalent of £2.50 or so; bargain! We didn't visit the Indian but frequented the Italian. The pizzas were good and the steak amazing; strangely a margarita pizza cost more than a Hawaiian! Go Figure!
There was a snack bar located near the main pool that served food all day; the food was good but over salted! Whenever I asked for my chips with no salt I received funny looks! As an aside, we also received funny looks from Customs at the airport when we arrived as we didn't have any cigarettes. They think that all English people smoke and were surprised we didn't!
As for excursions, we went on the day and a half safari; deep sea fishing and the Mombasa city tour. The safari was amazing and Richard, our driver, had amazing eyesight! He was able to, whilst driving, point out ostrich over 150 feet away whilst we couldn't even spot them with binoculars! Amazing! We saw four of the big five and more elephants then I thought possible! The deep sea fishing we booked through the reputable water sports people at the hotel; we asked our rep if they were safe and we were assured they were. They actually use the same company as the reps do. The day was amazing although my other half did get sea sick.
For first timers I would suggest sea sickness tablets! I took one and that may be the reason I didn't throw up; the sea was quite choppy. As you pay for the hire of the boat and not per person it works out better to meet up with other couples if there are only two of you. The guys in the hotel actually walk around looking for people and can help you meet other couples if you want to share the cost. When we went out we all managed to catch a fish each, although I did land the biggest one! It was a 9.5kg Kingfish and we were able to keep it. We took it back to the hotel where they prepared it for dinner - delicious!
Finally, the city tour was amazing and definitely recommendable! You visit the Wood Carving Factory; I'll tell you now it was like no other factory I could think of! That's all I'll say but it was definitely worth going to. Leave it to here to buy any wooden presents that you want as the prices are much lower than anywhere else and the majority of the money actually goes to the people that create and carve the products. For lunch we went on the Tamarind Dhow - AMAZING! The lunch is freshly prepared and the boat ride was wonderful. Be warned that the only options are a Seafood Platter or a Steak.
A final experience for us. We made good friends with one of our waiters and he invited us to go to his village and to his kid's school and the like. It was wonderful. We took books and sweets to the children and they were all so polite and appreciative. Our waiter then took us to his house to meet his family where we took everyone gifts and toy cars for his sons.
They were very happy! And so were our waiter and his wife; until the kids found out the cars make lots of noise! It was amazing to be invited and welcomed into their family. We actually went to visit him another day as well and he took us to his church which was a wonderful experience! On our travels we even found a Perfect Pizza! ...yes we did stop there!
One final thing, it was wonderful to be somewhere safe. Our rep told us that to visit the local supermarket and that it was perfectly safe to leave the hotel alone and get a bus or a taxi there. Nothing was marked up to 'Tourist Prices' so was another great place to buy gifts. We came away with a litre bottle of rum and one of cane spirit for a total of £5!
Bargain!
All in all the holiday was fabulous and we would recommend it to anyone. However, the rep was questionable and slightly erratic in his appearances. Although, once you have booked your excursions you don't really need him again.
A final note, if you're travelling with First Choice you don't need to pay departure tax, something the rep should tell you but doesn't. Many people panicked as they thought they would need to pay it and thought they didn't have enough money left but were told at the last minute they didn't.

We have stayedat Travellers Beach Club on many occasions and have never been disapointed ,Traveller's is a very clean comfortable hotel and the staff will do anything to please you ,The food is good and the menu is varied .The swimming pool and sunbed area is spotless and the gardens are really well looked after ,also the hotel is in an excellent position if you want to be out and about ,Haller park ,the crocodile farm are a short tut tut or taxi ride away and the hotel also offfers a trip to Haller Park at a very reasonable rate .There is a gym and beauty salon also on the premises and an indian and italian restaurant near by .We mostly book our safari 's before we go to Traveller's but have on quite a few occasions' booked with Nixon on the beach .he is a rep for northern Mombasa tour's so it is a good travel company who hyou hotel rep but at a lower price e sells tours for ,On these trips we have stayed in the same lodges that you book through your hotel rep but at lower prices ,we have always had really steady driver guides and felt safe while we were in there care ,2 drivers in particular who we would recomend would be Eddie and Jackson ,They went out of there way to make sure we had a good time.Iknow that people tell you to be careful when booking tours with the beach boys but we have never had a bad experience with Nixon and Mombasa northern tours .Just ask anyone on the beach to fetch Nixon for you and you wont be waiting long .We have been going to Kenya since 1990 and have stayed at Traveller's at least 10 times and as i say have never been disapointed
