As with the last review by Mr S Walton, we had problems from the beginning. Firstly there were no keys for us to enter the villa, we had to wait until a cleaner arrived to let us in. We contacted the Cosmos rep who came along and apologised that he did not have a set of keys to give us that he would have to get a copy cut, which he did twice and neither times did they fit. The cleaner took the keys from the Cosmos rep and she went to get them cut herself, on this occasion they did fit. During this time we could not leave the villa.
Cosmos had put notices up to the fact that there had been a speight of breakins in the area and to make sure that windows/doors and shutters were always shut. The villa next to our (Villa Estella)and also another behind us were broken into, the intruder was still present when the family awoke! We contacted the Cosmos rep and asked to be moved, he did offer a Hotel, but we would have had to pay an extra 250 euro's or an apartment with a shared pool with building work still in progress, so we decided to stay where we were. Needless to say we did not venture far and when we were at the villa we only had the door open that we were sunbathing by, everything else was locked up, it was like Fort Nox.At night we left the tv and downstairs lights on, for our own piece of mind. There is also a safe, but as the Cosmos rep didn't know the combination, we couldn't use it for three days until he had contacted the owner.
As we were here in early April, the weather was warm in the day, with a cool breeze, but at night you needed warmer clothes, especially as there was no heating in the villa. The only thing that kept us warm was the supply of blankets we found in the wardrobes.
The Villa itself was nice, I don't think it had been used all that often (I wonder why) as it smelt a bit musty - probably because no one ever had the windows open, especially in the bedrooms. The pool was very cold, which you would expect this time of year. The beaches were lovely. There was a local supermarket, chinese and Indian restaurant (which we would highly recommend)in the area and a local Portugese bar/restaurant on the local beach, but not a lot else.
We have been to the Algarve several times now and this has been the worse experience we have had, we had always thought that the area was a safe place to go, we will definetely think twice in future.

I went to stay at the Villa Kings in Gale last September, I will keep it brief because there would be two much to cover. I booked through Cosmos who were awful, the area which the Villa is located Gale, there is little or nothing there just a couple of shops and no life unless you travel into Albefuira itself which is 20 minute drive. I went with my family, my daughter who was eight month's old at the time, first holiday and one to forget.
Although the Villa was nice we were broken into on the 11th day of our stay while we were asleep in bed they took all our money, left us with nothing, Cosmos did not even apologise for this and the patio was damaged as they must of tried to get in through that way but they ended up coming through the window of which my mother in law was asleep at the time and the neighbours Villa the Estelle was also robbed as they were asleep. We contacted Cosmos immediately they sent the owner around, he apologised but never fixed the patio which he said he would do that day we never seen them again, so we were left in fear for three nights of our holiday especially fearing for my daughters safety. We found out the next day at a local bar (because we felt like a drink to calm the nerves) by a family we met, they stayed at the Villa Kings the year prior to us and they went through Cosmos and the same happened to them, they were robbed of all their cash whilst they slept in the second week this villa must be prone to this.
I am sorry for the lateness of my review in case you have booked recently but please take my advice and do not go to the Villa Kings, there were other issues with Cosmos but too much to mention I hope I have wrote enough for you to steer well clear.

I read the reviews on this website after I booked the villa and I was so terrifed that I wrote to Cosmos about the risks. Cosmos were very reassuring and confirmed that changes had been made to the villa's security and that they hadn't had any break ins since 2009.
I felt I had to reassure others booking the villa that this is a great villa and noone should worry about staying there!
The holiday was great, the villa rep met us at the airport and gave us great directions to the villa. We had hired a car for the whole trip and I would advise you to do this as most things are a car ride away including the bigger supermarkets.
The Cosmos rep was pretty weak compared to the other reps we have had and didn't follow up any of our requests and never fixed the downstairs shower but it didnt really matter as there are three showers in the villa.
The Zoo Marine is a must. A full day out and great for the kids with Dolphin displays, Sharks and a huge swimming pool too. Albuferia, Silves, the Mountains are all lovely and we eat at great seafood places.
Gale beach is wonderful and easy walk down the road. The nearest beach is also good for swimming and beer! We loved the meal at Villa Joya - a 2 mitchelin star restaurant not 5 minutes walk down the road - 11 courses later and we rolled back to the villa!
In summary - lock the doors, use the safe and put on the alarm. You'll have a great holiday!
