A nice C grade hotel run by a very pleasant couple. The main building is situated opposite a coarse sand & pebble beach around a pretty cove. In mid August we found that the little beach was totally packed with people, mainly Italian holidaymakers, & there was precious... more

a great hotel
from gailngaz
just returned from the apollon hotel paleokastritsa what a great place to stay fantastic views from the balconies and terraces the rooms are clean and comfortable an ideal base for exploring paleo, there is a restaraunt which we ate at quite a few times during our stay the food was very nice with plenty of choice the bar area is bright and lively and the bar staff are all very attentive and friendly there is a bakery attached to the side of the hotel which is handy if you want a snack they do pies and sandwiches etc, ideal if you want to take a snack to the beach, which is directly across the road there was entertainment a few nights a week, a greek night , and live music. the main road that runs along the front of the hotel is quite busy during the day as the area is used by tourist and several coach trips arrive daily making it very busy but by late afternoon the coaches and day visitors leave and the area becomes very quiet and the bars are not so busy you can sit and enjoy a quiet drink and a meal in the peacefull hotel restaraunt bliss!!!
Can't wait 2 go back...

Just got back yesterday from our week at the Appollon, Paleocastrictas, wish we'd stayed for 2weeks! It was the best holiday I've ever had. The hotel location couldn't be better (right accross the road from the beach), the staff were wonderful and so helpful, the food was great (we stayed half board) breakfast was good-maybe a little basic but the evening meal was great with choices for everyone inc greek, english and italian dishes. Entertainment was such fun esp the greek night n the karaoke. I really could not fault the place...great***** As for the resort itself everything you need is there really. People are so friendly there. Beach shoes are a must for the beach and take your masks n snorkels as the sea is soooo clear, we went in the sea everyday-didn't miss a swimming pool at all. We went up 2 the monastery-twice, its not as far a walk as it looks, just take some water with u, well worth a trip. Also the Beach BBQ advertised in the Appollon reception was a wicked day out n well worth the money. We also hired a boat from the next bay for 45euros for 3hours n went exploring the bays ourselves. We will definitely be booking up for next year so we can explore the rest of Corfu.....
Loved the Apollon

Just returned from Corfu having stayed in the Apollon in Paleo. Great hotel, management very helpful. Great access to beach, tavernas, bus stop, shops etc. We would recommend staying on the second floor with all rooms having access to the sun terrace, but all rooms on 1st & 2nd floors have balconies and sea views. The terrace was very useful for our family as we had 2 rooms and could move between them via the terrace. We stayed in the main hotel, but although proximity to road was no problem, being in the annexe would no doubt be quieter. Be prepared to pay extra for TV and air con, but don't be put off by this. We had a great time.
fantastic holiday!

we stayed at the apollon for a week from 16th july and had a fantastic time! we were overlooking the bay and had the most beautifull views from our balcony. the food here was excellent plenty for your money and if you eat at the apollon you get 10% off allthough there are plenty of choices within 10mins walking distance so you will not be stuck even if you are the pickiest of eaters (as i am) there is also a bakery on site which was lovely for snacks or a light lunch and contrary to previous reviews on here we didnt get chips with our meals once as you could allways chose which side orders you wanted. plenty to do in the area local trips can be booked from the hotel and the local bus stop to corfu town is 2 mins away. only downside was the shower as the bathroom is more of a wet room so theres no cutrtain but it is certainly not that big an issue. rooms clean but basic wouldnt recommend more than 2 in a room you would be too cramped. theres a fridge in the room so its great for cold drinks. would definatly go back and will be recomending to friends!
Enjoyable Stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We came to Paleo last September & saw this hotel. We are surprised by the comments of "mixed". Yes the bay is qutie rocky but I would not reccommend this for a holiday with small children. There are plenty of resorts with very sandy safe beaches, Agois Gordis for example. If enough research is done then you would discover this. Also with regard to the stairs at the hotel. It was not really a problem but would not be suitable for the elderley. Showers in Greece never have curtains. they are wet rooms. If the water is set on luke warm then when it get's hotter it's not scalding. Perhaps this could be mentioned in the information book. We only ate in the hotel once. It was ok. But better to be found elsewhere. We only had chips once. If you order the right things & ask what it comes with then you can decide whether to have it which is what we did! Lots of lovely sea food available & we went to the Buraros family restaurant 3 times during our stay! Fantansic . Breakfast ok. We have the same for breakfast at home everyday anyway. You could order full English at extra cost but most people don't want it. It was very good value. We hope to go to the Apollon again next year. Karen, the owner, was excellent & allways happy to help in anyway.
fantastic

mixed

The hotel is opposite the beautiful view of the bay, it is likely the most scenic of places in all of Greece. It is not a mix of sand and shingle as often described, it is rock and course sharp shingle, you really need diving shoes to get into the sea as it it really painful underfoot. The sea is lovely on some days, although can be extremely cold (even on the hottest days), it is also full of large rocks and dips suddenly, so watch the children closely. The hotel is clean and adequate, shower facilites are really poor, no shower curtain and water boiling or freezing, so a risk of scalding. Continental breakfast the same each morning, always with stale bread. There is no lift, so anyone who has any walking or breathing difficulties will find it impossible to carry their cases up four flights of very steep steps. The staff are very freindly, although quite unprofessional, it seems like chaos at times. For food that is anything like decent go to your right of hotel, first right, first venue, lamb in a flowerpot, which is well cooked and tasty (although served with chips, chips and more chips) all of paleo food is served with chips. Appollon hotel evening meal is poor. If you like walking and tradition, you will likely be told to walk the four miles to the village, I loved this walk, but be warned, it is a very steep climb up an old donkey trail, not for the faint hearted. If you go on a boat trip to any of the islands, take plenty to drink, as there are no shops or cafe's, but beautiful seas and isolated shingle beaches. Enjoy Anne and Gerry
A Fantastic place to stay!

Clean and comftorable accomodation, good for Greek standards. Fantastic position overlooking the beach where the water is crystal clear. We were half board and the breakfast was what you'd expect. Evening meals were acceptable but rather plain so we mainly ate at Astacos next door where the owner cooked some fantastic Greek dishes. Hotel provided entertainment on various nights which seemed to go down well although we did not partake. It did not disturb you however. Air conditioning is a must for a good nights sleep and to keep the mosquitos out. We were not bitten at all but people without air con suffered! There are quite a few small beaches to choose from. The one opposite the hotel did get quite busy but had a good atmosphere and did not feel crowded. Sun loungers were on the dear side at ten euros for two beds and an umbrella. I have never seen so many people in the sea which was beautifully clear. Beach shoes are a must as it is quite rocky. Snorkelling was quite good. Paleokastritsa gets a lot of day trippers but this time of year did not feel crowded. Coaches come and go but most go on boat trips out to the cave or up to the Monastry. Evenings in the resort were quiet and relaxed. An excellent holiday and higly recomended.
heaven

I have just returned from a week staying at the Apollon with family and my 2 year old daughter and can i just say the views from the hotel are amazing. You fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the beach opposite the hotel. The rooms are very clean and well decorated. The only problem i found was the shower, as it is a hand held shower which went hot and cold unexpectedly, which i had problems with when showering my daughter. The staff are very friendly and will try their best to make everyone feel welcome. My room, with my daughter was on the first floor, the views from the balcony were beautiful but was right above the restaurant and pub which was a bit of a nightmare when i was trying to get my daughter to sleep. We went bed and breakfast but to be honest the continental breakfast wasn't up to much, with a choice of bread, ham, cheese and greek youghurt but it was nice to get a decent cup of tea or coffee. You could buy a full English for 8 euros. The restaurant on a night did have good food with nightly 3 course specials for 10 euros, you need to make sure you mention your staying at the hotel because you get 10% off which we didn't realise until our last night. Paleo itself is a lovely place. The beaches are fantastic aswell as the views. The bus stop is outside the hotel and costs 2 euros into corfu town. A trip on the glass bottom boat is a must. All in all i had a great holiday, well worth the mosquito bites i left with.
Sanctuary!
from JohnfromCornwall
We have just come back from staying at the Apollon and overall we were delighted with not only the hotel but the location too!. We went barely a week before the 'real season' kicked in. So we had no 'scraped' beach, no parasols or sunbeds, no motorboats for hire etc.. but this made it a truly lovely holiday. We had a very clean but basic room on the top floor of the hotel which is literally 50 yards from an uninterrupted view of an incredibly scenic bay. This is a very quiet area especially at the time of year we went, and there is really nothing to do in the evening except drink or eat!... which aint all bad. I would recommend this to couples or even single travellers but not to families with young children. The beach steeply falls into the sea and would not suit a youngster. For us a 45- 50 couple we found it idyllic, peaceful, fantastic value for money and 'money can't buy' views to die for... would i go back?... you bet your sweet bippy... probably early or late season.. we just had 30 c virtually all week, which was plenty hot enough!

We arrived at the hotel at 4.30am (myself and my mother) in the morning. We were shown to our room and the guy that showed us up did not even offer to help us with our cases. The room was like a dungeon small and stuffy and basically a 2*, Libra holidays had informed us... more
