A nice C grade hotel run by a very pleasant couple. The main building is situated opposite a coarse sand & pebble beach around a pretty cove.
In mid August we found that the little beach was totally packed with people, mainly Italian holidaymakers, & there was precious little space left by midday!
The narrow road outside the hotel & separating it from the beach was very busy throughout the day & into the night with the constant traffic of scooters, cars, & even coaches going to & from the monastery where the road terminates.
This could be potentially dangerous for young children, particularly with the standards of driving we've seen! We found the noise from the traffic a bit of a nuisance at night, even though we were on the top (3rd) floor.
The lack of a lift in the hotel is also a negative, as we found out when we had to lug our cases up the long flight of external stairs to our 3rd floor room. The steps were quite slippery when wet & were exposed to the elements.
The rooms themselves were fairly basic but small. Be warned! In our opinion the rooms are too small for an additional 3rd person to sleep, in our case our 7 year old daughter.
With the additional bed at the foot of the twin beds it was impossible to get from the door to the balcony without having to clamber over a bed. These rooms are really only for 2 persons only plus maybe a young baby, if you wished to face the long external stairs with a baby that is!
On the plus side the rooms are clean & equipped with a fridge & optional air-con, an essential in August.
The restaurant on the ground floor is a delight, serving very good food throughout the day & well into the night. The staff are friendly, attentive, & sometimes entertaining.
Overall the Hotel Apollon is a nice place to stay for a couple seeking a beautiful location out of the main holiday season but is not really suitable for kiddies, especially in August.
My advice to anyone contemplating staying in this hotel is to get down the gym & get fit because you're likely to need it if you end up in a room on the 3rd floor!

We arrived at the hotel at 4.30am (myself and my mother) in the morning. We were shown to our room and the guy that showed us up did not even offer to help us with our cases. The room was like a dungeon small and stuffy and basically a 2*, Libra holidays had informed us that it was a 3*. We decided to go down to the 24 hour reception to buy a bottle of water, the receptionist had by now left and there was nowhere open where you could by a bottle of water, so we had to wait until 10.30am. We also then discovered that in order to make the air-conditioning work you had to pay €6.00 per night.
The accommodation was very basic the bathroom smelled and whenever you had a shower the place seemed to flood. The hotel staff are very rude and unprofessional especially one guy in particular. When I went down to breakfast the next morning I was absolutely disgusted. There were kittens everywhere climbing on the tables and licking the cereal bowls, there were ants in the sugar cannisters. The breakfast was a joke, cold spam and cereal that was not edible and the sliced bread was covered in flies.
The hotel has no pool, the beach over the road is small and overcrowded and full up with cigarette buts and rubbish so is not kept very clean and the sunbed hire is €10.
I can honestly say that this is the worst place that I have ever stayed in my life and the place is so awful it does not even deserve to be classed as a 1*.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, in my opinion it deserves to be closed down.
