All that glitters ain't gold!

Sep 2011, TheFamily

We are an italian family composed by four people: mum, dad, one daughter (16) and one son (7).
We stayed at Damia’s Hotel, in Corfu, from 3 to 14 August 2011. We booked in February a 2 bedrooms flat, they lodged us into a unique room with 2 single beds and a bunk bed instead, over a noisy bar. Obiouvsly the room wasn’t enough!
In addition, the apartment wasn’t cleaned daily, we had to buy the toilet paper, there weren’t curtains that could black out the early morning light, there wasn’t always hot water, the swimming pool was full of wasps, that bit my son more than one time.
I red lots of positive comments, so I’m sure that Damia can be gentle and affable with guests... Perhaps we were more interested in a confortable and appropriate service than in the sociability of the staff.

Awful!!

Sep 2010, Splash

I have just returned from Sidari where me and my boyfriend were supposed to be staying at Damia's. We flew at midnight and had a 2 hour bus journey to get to Damia's. Once there, no one was there to greet us. Damia finally came down to meet us and told us she had some bad news but to "give her a minute to wake up" before telling us that there had been double bookings and we couldn't stay there. She proceeded to say that we would be staying somewhere "better" than her apartments and that it was nearer to town which was "better for young people like us anyway". Well If I wanted to be in the middle of town I would have booked somewhere in the middle of town! A taxi finally came to take us to our new apartments which where VERY basic and grubby, with wires covered with tape, holes in the walls, the list goes on... I found Damia to be rude, ignorant and an absolutely disgusting person overall and even though the apartments and pool looked lovely(although the recepion area absolutely reeked of cigarettes), I wouldn't even consider going back due to her shockingly bad attitude and complete lack of customer service skills.

Arrived back yesterday and have to say we booked the holiday a week before we went so we weren't sure what to expect. We were very pleasantly surprised. The hotel is situated just outside Sidari (but we won't hold that againstit) it is very clean, the rooms are a decent size and very well cared for. The pool is beautiful and extremely well maintained with plenty of sunbeds. We ate at the hotel on 3 occasions and found the food and service of a very high quality. Aki the barman is very friendly and pleasant as are all the staff. Damia and her son Dimitri are very helpful and always find time for a chat despite the numerous hours they work. The only downfall for us was the entertainment the singer couldn't sing and the music was far too loud and on occasion went on until 3 in the morning, the entertainer is alawys the same with the same (unfunny jokes) and the same music once you heard it you were not in a hurry to hear it again. I think that the hotel would do better at keeping people in the bar of an evening if they varied their entertainment-it is an ideal place for a greek night. The hotel is ideally situated for getting around other areas though you do need transport. We were there for 10 days and ate at some lovely tavernas but I have to say the best by far was the Brokilis in the village of Peroulades 15 minute stroll from the hotel. All in all a wonderful holiday and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Damia Hotel.

Iam just back from Damias hotel yesterday and i can honestly say it was one of the best weeks of my life ! From the minute we entered the hotel we were made very welcome. We got a ground floor room and it was very big, loads of space and very clean, i would however agree that the toilets were a bit of a let down and could have been a bit cleaner and better but apart from that everything was fine. We stayed there for a week and our room was cleaned 5 times, beds made and changed, clean towels, floors cleaned, bins emptyed, balconys swept every time.I also agree that the prices were no different to the prices anywhere else. We met damia herself on the 2nd day and she was very nice to us, we also ate out every single night and a few times we passed her on the way out of the hotel and she always said "bye, have a good time" and on the day we left she was asking if we had enjoyed our time and she waved us away on the bus and seem genuinely moved that we were leaving. The barman was very very polite to everyone who stayed there, and hara makes the best chicken salad mayo in the world lol !! It was just a bit too far from the village but we always walked it down and when we were comming back we just got a taxi because it isnt that very well lit up and scary if you are the only people on the road. I would recommend MADISONS as it was absolutly supperb and the entertainment is always the best.

Damia's was Fabulous

I thought Damia's was fantastic.
A storm cut off the electricity in all of Sidari and Damia really did care, we heard her on the phone to the electrician who was putting the main bars in the centre as a priority, and Damia had it fixed as soon as possible, she was under pressure from people and it is quite understandable that she was stressed at this time.
The pool was really clean, the staff were all really friendly, the food at the resort was decent, the atmosphere great, Greek night was great fun and the rooms were of decent quality for a 3* resort.
There could have been more cleaning products, bedding changed more often and the bathrooms abit cleaner, but overall was good value for money for a 3*.
The pool was easily the best in all of Sidari and surrounding areas

corfu itself is a lovely place, had an amazing time. The only downfall as the apartment. Damia pretended to be the nicest person on the 1st day, as soon as that was over she turned into a rude, ignorant, self absorbed person. The barman was a sleeze, and made comments to the oher members of staff, which made you feel uncomfortable. We only used the pool once because you constantly have damia staring at you like you have done something wrong. The rooms were nice, exept the cutlery was filthy and caught the cleaner washing the cups with the same towel that she washed the dirty windows and the toilet with! our bedsheets were never changed! although they did sweep the floor everyday! there was a storm close to the end and we had no hot water or electricity for 2 days. and 1 man had it, so we all had to pile in because damia didnt care!!!!

Had a really lovely time in Corfu...

Had a really lovely time in Corfu with my boyfriend, however was dissappointed with Damia...as for as 'being the friendlyist person theyd ever met', i rather thort she was the most misarable and unfriendly!!! The room was pleasant and we were happy with its standards except for maybe the bathroom which could have been in better condition...the beds were changed once throughout the 2weeks we were there and we had 2 sets of towels, slightly dissappointing but it did state this in the handbook that is in the room so could not really complain...the maid however did not make the beds (i dont want to sound picky but I dont know about you or other people but wenever we have been anywhere else in europe wheather it is self catering or not our beds have always been made)and had a tendancy to turn up about 6:30pm when we were having a nap or relaxing...the pool area is lovely very clean and very relaxing, plenty of sunbeds! The pool bar however is not as nice...the prices are extremly expensive, drinks and food and we did not feel comfortable sitting at the bar recieving constant stares from Damia...so we went elsewhere and this resulted in being ignored throughout our time there, the barman at night very snidy and was constantly making remarks in Greek and laughing at us which we found very uncomfortable. Its fairly irrelevant but I feel I must mention it...Damias breakfasts cost 6.50euro for a full english, however if u go 4 a ten minute walk (turn right as u come out of Damias) down the road at Champions Bar,u can get double the amount for half the price 3euros,its the perfect remedy after having a few drinks the night before!! This resulted in more ignorance from Damia but by this point we had lost the will live with her so really couldnt b bothered to bother about her!!
Sidari itself is a lovely town and I would recommend it to couples as it does have a lively side to and u can enjoy many cocktails on the beach and watch the sunset...the beach is lovely too,we spent quite alot of time there as there was a lovely breeze and plenty of bars along the front for a drink or two!
Overall I would recommend going to Damais,as much as she was rude and ignorant,we had a lovely stay there and got on with our holiday,so if your lookin for something a bit out of the way of sidari, and somewhere for complete relaxation, this is for u...u may want 2 but the odd drink or snack around the bar if u want to feel welcomed though....!!

we went to damias for our first holiday abroard and had an amazing time.damia herself is the most friendly person you could ever want to meet, pedro the barman is awesome and can make whatever cocktail you desire, the complex itself is the cleanest most relaxing place you would ever want to be in sidari, you get maids 6 times a week to clean your apartment and dispose of any rubbish from all bins including the toilet bin, there are always plenty of sunbeds around the pool for all you sun worshipers and the pool is one of the cleanest you will ever see (thanks to damias dad george)who prides himself on it.the food in the resturant is to die for and caters for everyones tastes and is no more expensive than anywhere else, unless you goto sidari town when food does cost 2-3 euro cheaper per meal. the entertainment provided is really good espeically davy b.
all in all a great place to have a holiday
