Great Location...Pleasantly suprised!
Just returned from a fab holiday in the gorgeous Olu Deniz with my boyfriend. We stayed in the Akdeniz beach as it was the cheapest option (last minute break!), we booked the accom with Travel Republic (which I would reccomend, as travelled with them before) and our flights with Jewel of the crown. One thing we would recommend is deffo book/arrange your transfers before you leave U.K, as it cost us £50 in taxi from Dalaman, although it's only 45 mins away! We managed to book a return transfer in resort for £30 with 'Metroyla' (excursion shop on main strip). We arrived at the Akdeniz beach at 2am in the morning and were greeted by really friendly hotel staff, a receptionist and the hotel groundsman, who took our cases to our room...which we were pleasantly suprised with, as both of us have travelled to basic hotels in Turkey before. The Akdeniz rooms are bright, airy and modern with lots of storage space! Nice bathroom, even had a hairdryer!!! Rooms have t.v and air con at no extra charge. The room we were in was on the 1st floor and we had small wrought iron balcony with 2 chairs to sit on and watch the crazy peeps paraglide off the badabag mountain!!! We stayed on a b&b basis. The breakfast is typical Turkish style, which was lovely...feta, cold meats, olives, eggs, bread, honey and tea/coffe/water/juice. Most guests were on an all inclusive basis. Which we wouldn't recommend, unless you get a very cheap deal! Food seemed basic/repetative! Wouldn't recommend snacks either, we ate there once. We opted for 'Pine Tree' cafe(opp Akdeniz), which only sells pancakes, both sweet and savory and extremelly cheap or 'Crusoes'(bottom of road) for kebabs! The pool and pool area is nice, we spent most of our days around there, we just wanted a chilled out hol! The pool bar/restaurant is run by young lads, so music is quite loud, which didn't bother us. Hotel location is great, located on a road that directly leads you to the main beach and beach bars (2mins) and less than 5 mins to main strip. The resort is great, plenty of restaurants, bars, shops and excursion shops. The beach and lagoon are gorgeous. You can walk to the lagoon in about 10 minutes, you have to pay 2.75 YTL(aprox £1) to enter and for 2 sunbeds and an umbrella you will pay 15 YTL(aprox £6). The nightlife is as low-key or as lively as you want it. The beach has great bars, where you can go and chill and look at the sunset early evening. There is a fab bar on the beach that has bean bags and sells hubba bubba pipes and great cocktails(we spent most of our nights there!) which is open till 4-5am! If you want a livlier night, you can catch the dolmus(right outside the hotel) for 2.25 YTL (less than quid each) to Hisaranu, which has masses of bars, shops, restaurants, clubs and also has a small fairground. We spent 2 nights there. We found the reviews to be true, you can't seem to get traditional turkish food in many restaurants in Olu Deniz, chosing English cuisine instead, we were a little dissapointed but found a lovely Turkish/Greek restaurant called 'Black and White' in Hisaranu. There is also a lovely Indian there called 'Shine', which is opposite where the dolmus drops you off. The nicest restaurants we found in Olu Deniz were 'Pine Tree'(opposite Akdeniz beach) and 'Bello Gusto Italian' (on the beachfront). You 'must' try a turkish bath during your stay. We went on the 2nd day of our hol, we also had a full body massage aswell...amazing! My boyfriend had several shaves whislt there and I had a luxury pedicure(fab!) in 'Asena salon' on the main strip...deffo recommend! We had a really great time here and am sure you will too...we will be returning in the not too distance future.
Cheap & Cheerful But Not Without Its Faults
Hotel OK however The grid around the pool is loose and broken and the pool surround is very slippy boarding on dangerous! As per previous reviews food buffet iffy and there is a sign outside stating that it is "a la carte" but also "as much as you can eat"? (work that one out) Pool table for the kids £3 an hour
Food disgraceful
Room ok qite clean, pool and area very nice. Stayed on an all inclusive basis but had to eat out due to standard of the food. Salads were put out on the tables ready for lunch at 11.30 covered in cling film and left out in the heat which was on one particular day 45 degrees. A member of our party asked for a burger one afternoon had to wait 20 mins for it and it was what it stated a burger put in a dry bread roll and practically thrown at you , whereas a turkish holiday maker had full salad on his ( not that we would have eaten the salad ). Food extremely boring, no variety, no desserts, not what you would expect from all incusive at all. My only advice is do not go there you will have to buy food anyway therefore you just aswell go self catering.
akdeniz is topps
i stayed at the akdeniz beach for two weeks with my boyfriend and it was the perfect setting for a romantic break, the staff cuoldnt do enough and we even had flowers left in our room every day, the hotel is quaint, the gardens are beautiful we found some banana trees too. the food and drink was always fresh and healthy, there are so many choices too! oludeniz beach is really pretty although you have to pay for sunbeds and restaurants are quite expensive so we stayed at akdeniz most of the time. inthe evening we relaxed at the pool bar and made lots of friends it was a holiday to remember!!!!!!!!!
Fabulous Akdeniz
my boyfriend and i were looking for a cheap holiday abroad before the summer rush and we couldn't hvae found one much better then the Akdeniz! on arriving we were met by the receptionist who was very welcoming and shown to our room. the hotel is fairly small with about 30ish rooms. they are very clean, maid service everyday, we had a room with a double and single bed, balcony over loking the pool, small telly (never used) very clean and decent sized bathroom, plenty of storage space for our weeks worth of clothes. the pool was a good size with plenty of loungers, although we did go in june and i expect it would be a lot busier in the hight of the summer. the food was good, always an excellent selection, meat, plenty of salads, dips, bread and pasta, a few desserts. considering this is a small hotel there is a lot of choice on an all inclusive basis. alcoholic drinks are served from 10am til midnight and stop dead on midnight! you have to pay for anything after this time. imported drinks and cocktails are charged at a discounted price to residents. we didn't bother with them as the beer is refreshing (!!) and the local spirits are decent! the hotel is about a 2 minute walk from the beach and is just off the main road in olu deniz, although it is a quiet resort and is not the kind of place to go if you are after a mad lads/girls holiday! the hotel put on a turkish night on a friday, it was the first one while we where there and i do not know if this will be a regular occurance. this is the first time the hotel has been an all inc and i do not know if this will continue. i would definately recommend the akdeniz, the staff are very friendly and the area is beautiful, take advantage of the excursions, we went on 2 boat trips, a jeep safari (do it its amazing!!) and paragliding!! (wow!). its a short dolmus ride to fethiye to the tuesday market. people here are so lovely, friendly and welcoming, if sometimes a little pushy to get you into their restruant/shop etc. if we went back to olu deniz we would defo stay in the akdeniz again.
Great hotel, beautiful resort
Olu deniz is such a beautiful resort, i heard other say they didnt think much to the lagoon but it is fantastic there, you do have to pay to get in but its only about a pound and this means it is kept in quality condition, the water there is fantastic and if you are lucky you will see some turtles and other interesting marine life. I would suggest you go to either sugar beach or suare beach though, which are around the other side of the lagoon, you dont have to pay, the sunbeds are cheaper, and you can get picked up for free right from the hotel. The resort itself is small but it is beautiful, if you have money you can do so much here as the excursions are really cheap, i would recommend the boat trip, trip to saklikent, and to the mud baths. The hotel was fantastic, i couldnt believe how clean it was, the maids were constantly cleaning from 9 - 6 or 7, they even left hearts and rose petals on the beds which was a nice touch, we had a great room which was very spacious and had everything we needed. The pool area is great and the food was very healthy and tasty, but dont go there expecting burgers and chips cos you will be disappointed, if you are open minded and enjoy different cultures food then you will love it, and you can pretty much eat all day. The staff at the hotel were great, yusuf and phillip were nice guys always willing to have a chat, and even have a game of football, the manager is a nice guy too, if you get chatting with him he might even give you a discount next time. Although he did say that they are changing it next year to half board and this year he is charging very low prices to get interest so be quick. Alot of the reviews are from years ago, but the new manager has only taken over in 2007 so please disregard reviews from before then because it is different now and you will love it. I will definately be going back to Olu Deniz as it is a beautiful place
Ignore the review below
The below review is a cheap shot at the hotel....when i reviewed my booking on returning home i found that the hotel worked out at £10 a day all inclusive...i must admit i had a little complaint about the food but for £10 a day i don't think anyone in their right mind could complain...there are plenty of restaurants/bars near by where my girlfriend and i ate every 2nd/3rd night at a rather cheap £20 for 2, 3-course steak dinners with drinks, for a change from the Turkish buffet...the rooms were clean and fresh and the bathrooms were spacious...as for the no entertainment i would like the reviewer to go and find a hotel in this country or any other country where they will get bed, 3 meals a snack and cakes plus all the local lager/spirits they can drink from 9am-12am for the said £10 with added entertainment...i'm afraid it just can't be done...all said and done if you want a cheap break away where you will get gauranteed sun and free alcohol then look no further...
Lets be fair
We stayed at the Akdeniz beach from the 01 June and yes to be fair there was no evening entertainment however the seasson has only just started and all entertainment is due to start mid June, I have been to turkey and Oludeniz too many time too count in fact I use to work in Oludeniz as a holiday rep and this hotel was one of mine and feel some of the reviews I have just read are very unfair !!!! Yes the breakfast is cucumber tomatoes cheese meat slices eggs bread jam and honey but this is traditional turkish breakfast and forgive for being silly but you are on holiday in Turkey not the UK if you want eggs and bacon maybe you should not travel to Muslim country having said this if you really want to eat what you normally do there are now plenty of cafe's in the villiage where you can buy this kind of food . There are many choices of evening meal again alot of local healthy food. The hotel is extremely clean and well care for there are plenty of staff to assist you with any requests all rooms have AC and fridges. The maids make a huge effort to please the guests with towel decorations and flower in the rooms. With regard to the All inclusive deal there are signs all around the pool which state the restrictions that are placed on this deal if they differ from the information you recived when you booked can I sugest that you advise the manager as soon as possible as he is a very approachable man and i am sure he will help you as much as he can to resolve any issues. The pool and gardens are kept in a spotless manor and there are plenty of sunbeds. I highly recomend this hotel for service friendlyness and location I personally feel that all inclusive is not sutiable for Oludeniz as there are so many cafe's and resturants to try but this is of course your choice. If you have any questions about this hotel or the local are please feel free to email me and I try and assist you with any thing I can Thank you to all the staff at the Akdeniz beach for looking after us and making our stay as fantastic as ever Nicky x
don;t bother
went for a cheap mall inclusive with husband and 4 children the hotel had nothing to do in the evening the food was absoultley rubbish breakfast was a boiled egg and dinner was spagetti bolgese for one whole week didnt get any dessert the dinner hall was sitting around the swimming pool so didnt really have a dinner hall moaned when the kids where swimming at lunch time because people where eating and tables are write next to pool and sometimes would splash only had snack time between 3 and 4 and that was a chicken burger and chips and only one per person no other snacks my 8 year old son lived on bread and jam for a week i can say the french stick was lovely and fresh everyday thank god would not be going back to this hotel again its fine if you are about in your 60s and want to relax for a week and eat nothing only bread also dinner served at 7.30 and if you did;nt go then dont bother because the food would be cold also get in quick if you would like to eat something because never enough for everyone.
Pool Was The Best Thing
Rooms were basic but clean and bed and pillows were ok. Alot of greenary outside our balcony as we were on ground level. so you get bite got bite 11 times in total. Pool was of good size and very clean, the bar had a terrace next door which was also where you ate your breakfast lunch and dinner. you also have to get there when the meal times start as the food gets left out untill the end of meal times and in which time flies are aroun landing on the food. one day we got served chicken and when it had all ran out they bought out yesterday's dinner for all the other guests who did not get there early. Only decent thing that was to eat was bread which was fresh and soft. when we first arrived in the first few day crisps to buy were 1.50 lira then went up to 2.00 lira. the only thing just about edible were the cheeseburgers and then they stopped doing them and they had a set snack menu which was out of four things maybe three you could choose and then it changed to two per person only even though it clearly states in the brochure it is unlimited joke really. i asked one day what flavour the soup was and they informed me it was mashed potato but it was more like liquidised. the location of the hotel is fantastic as it is only a two min walk to the lovely beach shops bars and resturants and the resort of oludeniz its self is fantastic. overall enjoyed the weather which was great and the resort but the hotel its self is more like 1.5 - 2 star max. alot of other people we spoke to said that they did not like the food either, and be careful when the maids make shapes on your bed out of towels and put flowers all around the edge be carefull as we went to get into bed and there were bugs on the bed which had come out of the towels so be carefull because you will get bite. will never ever stay at this hotel again and is not good for children either as there is nothing for them to do anyway. any questions just email me
