Estrela Do Mar Beach Resort

This is honestly the worst hotel i have stayed at. It is rated by travelocity as a 3 star but i would say it is not even worthy of one star. We were given a damp room at first. Bed linen had stains so did the towels. Second room was ok meaning no dampness. but again stained linen etc.We managed through the night using multiple locks on our bags and used all available locks on the doors/windows. Pool was not in use because it had mould all around it. The beach was walking distance but very isolated.Not good at all. This hotel should be shut... more

Hi All, I was in goa in first week of April 2008. The website shows very nice pics of resort, so i made the advance booking but this is pathetic resort. and they got some foreign tourist at the same time so even i had an advance booking, they shifted me to some other more ugly resort and said your booking is not confirmed. DON'T MAKE ANY ADVANCE BOOKING FOR THIS RESORT, and when you will go there and see this you will not like to stay in this resort at all :-) Regards

If you are looking for something very basic, then this is the place for you. The rooms are old looking and need a paint job, the floor looks like its always dirty, but its just holes in the floor. The bed linen is clean and so are the towels, but that is the only thing that is! Breakfast is served between 7.30-930am, you get a choice of toast or toast and hot juice. If you get there at 920am they tell you they have finished serving breakfast, not fair at all. Dont go near the swimming pool it looks like it has never been... more

We stayed at this hotel in december 07 for our honeymoon the hotel room was clean but basic and its right by the beach which in its self is a good thing cos we went to have a look at some of the hotels like the NIZMAR & TICLO and you've got no chance of getting asleep right on the main road which is very busy. The hotel food wasn't nice and we where the only English people that was staying at the hotel. As this was our first visit to india, We tought this hotel was great, ok the first room was damp but what do you expect when they have monsoons, but we were given a choice of othere rooms and took one right next to swiming pool, with two children this was realy handy, out the room straight into swimming pool. we did not spend all our time in the hotel. only as a base realy. the hotel itself isn't as i expected: the room & swimming pool doesn't look like the picture advertised, but the room & bathroom itself are clean which are the main important thing for us, as we only needed a pad to crash! I quickly realise that the staffs were all amazingly friendly, in a genuine way! They all helped us out, even at 3am when i felt a bit hungry. We had a good laugh with the staffs there. what a place. great rooms!! The rooms had soothing white linen and spring beds which were out of the world (as far as goa is concerned). I had couple of my friends staying in other hotels and resorts (in total a group of 13), and all of them when came over to this resort where we were stayin and were surprised to see such a cozy and a comfortable place that they had missed. After a look there all wanted to shift in but unfortunately only 3 more rooms were available...all in all great staff, service and BEST rooms....cheers to the resort-will... more

Having just returned from this hotel I can honestly say its the worst hotel I have ever stayed in - and I am a seasoned traveller! The rooms were not as advertised - we booked a superior room The ceiling of bedroom & bathroom was black with damp- also smelly after being closed all day The breakfast restaurant was swarming with flies - especially around the food preparation area- I saw a waiter pick a dead fly out of a glass of fruit juice and then serve to a guest The plastic tables were engrained with dirt - needed a... more

Yeah the hotel rocked. Was simple and friendly. Cheap and cheerful. Althougth it has a terrible band that play once a week and blatantly mime the guitar and sing badly. But this added to the experience and in some way goes with the whole feeling of Goa. Ahhhhh,, Goa, bless it's little cottons....

We have just come back from Goa on our first trip there and are really impressed. Already planning next years trip! We had some reservations about the Estrela Do mar as it was shown as only 2* but all concerns were banished the moment we arrived. Great location as it was in between Baga and Calangute (Calangute was a bit too manic for us, nice to visit wouldn't of wanted to be in the centre though), 5 mins walk from the beach so you get best of both worlds in terms of access to day/night time shacks plus only 5 mins walk from the bars,... more
