The grounds at Coconut Grove is the first thing to notice, many different plants all around the villas/apartments.
The beach is only a few hundred metres away, and is worth the journey.
A few well run shacks and a lovely view from every direction. Majorda is 30 minutes walk North, and Colva 30 mins south... and a lovely walk it is too!
The hotel staff are very helpful, and the local taxis are excellent, with a good knowledge of most things.
The hotel has a restaurant, serves good food and it is slightly more expensive than others in the area.
The Little Palm shack at Nanu Beach (5 mins walk), and Baggies were both very good. Restaurants used were Martins Corner, Sinatras, Pentagon, Fusion.
Obviously the seafood is excellent in most places, the king prawns and mussels were to die for!

Just back from Coconut Grove and had an excellent 3 weeks.
After experiencing the '5' star Ramada last year we thought we'd try this hotel out.
It was like night and day. This hotel knocks spots of the big ones.
The staff are great and can't do enough for you.
The rooms are large and clean with fresh towels when you want.
The food in the restaurant is good quality but can be a bit on the cold side. It’s great to find a hotel bar that actually charges the same for beer as the shacks and outside bars.
Breakfast can be fun, trying to beat the waiters cooking the toast twice. If you lose it's like concrete.
The beach is only 300 yards away and Sunshine Shack has the best food of all in the area.
Restaurants to try are Pentagon, Crab Key, Fusion and Martin's Corner. All a short taxi ride away.
Best value for money we found was Filpee's at Benaulim, £14 for 7 of us for a two course meal and drinks for the whole evening.

If you want a quiet, moderately inexpensive (but not cheap) place then Coconut Grove is for you. 200 yards from the sea, half a mile from local shops it has everything you want. Friendly staff, good food, small but good pool (it doesnt need to be bigger, the sea is 200 yards away!) and rooms with what can only be described as enormous beds. Hard, but enormous. All the usual fixtures and fittings including hot drink facilities and a fridge (fresh milk from the village). Bathroom was a little tired but everything worked. No plugs in the sink but as there were lots of Russians about thats not surprising, they seem to collect them where ever we have been in the world.
Just up the road past the Alagora Hotel is Katherines house. Katherine is recently widowed and takes in washing, sells 5 litre water bottles and has recently started to offer meals. Very basic but also very inexpensive. Butter Chicken and veg biryani are great. She also will supply EGG & CHIPS. After a week of curry, bliss. In the village of Betalbatim is HD 86 another food outlet run by Henry. Slow service but beautiful food. There are other eateries a taxi ride away and they are all covered in the guides. Crab Quay is well worth a visit.
The beach goes on for miles in either direction and has food shacks every few hundred yards. Anri's to the north is great for a whole day. Never managed to spend more than £15.00 from 10am til 8.30pm. Drinks, food, sunbeds everything you need and always a smile. Going south, Little Palm is good but no sunbeds.
Flights from Manchester due to late booking but if you can, upgrade to bigger seats at the front. It might cost a few bob but boy is it worth it.
Tail wind meant that we got there over an hour early (5.40am) which caused our only gripe. The hotel didnt have any spare capacity and we didnt get the room til after 12.00. Not a huge problem but after a long flight all we wanted to do was crash out for a few hours and had to make do with the pool area.
One of the best holidays we have had in years.
