Tropical Garden Resort Hotel

Tropical Garden Resort - Phuket Stayed here for two nights early August 07, and essentially I can confirm the observations of most others with regard to this hotel. Hotel: large but well designed, it does have heaps of stairs because it is built against a hillside facing the Andaman Sea, but you can avoid most or all stairs by using lifts and walking down a few corridors. This was an absolutely wonderful holiday. My friend and I stayed between the 20th and 27th March, We flew from Gatwick with Thomsonfly (just for your information, the plane they use is a 767, seat configuration is 2 - 4 - 2, no personal screens and the headphones cost £3). My family ( two teenage sons, husband and I ) stayed at the Tropical Garden Resort 7th to 21st March and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is located at Kata Beach which we found to be much quieter and cleaner than Patong, and just around the corner is Kata Noi which is a bit smaller and perhaps the better again. It has a beautiful reception area with a lovely fountain. Me and my Boyfriend stayed at this hotel 27th Feb - 13th march. The weather was amazing which we was overjoyed with. The hotel itself was lovely, staff was always very friendly, remembering your room number etc when collecting your key. Also the staff at the pool bars were very friendly and spoke good English. The rooms themselves were quite basic but seemed to have everything you needed. Booked this hotel with Asiarooms. The hotel is in Kata which is about 40 mins from the airport (you can get an airport limosine at an airport counter, cost is 650Baht). We arrived at the same time as a coach load of Thomson guests, so check in took slightly longer than you would normally expect. Receptionists were very pleasant and the reception itself was very nice. This was a great location, just up the hill from the beach. Restaurants, bars, shopping all within walking distance. As many other reviews mention, there are a ton of stairs. It was a bit daunting when we arrived after a long day of travel. But we quickly got used to it and didn't even think about it by the time we left. This hotel has a really brilliant entrance. You are impressed from the minute you see the place. The rooms are clean, the staff are friendly and the food and drink are really good there. You are in an ideal location to go out in the evenings as well as a short walk from the lovely Kata Beach. The only draw back for this hotel is the fact that there are so many stairs. I'm going to try to address two primary apects of our experience at the Tropical Garden and give the context necessary to let the reader know whether they might share my perspective. As far as the physical accomodations: The hotel is a fairly solid choice. The pools are gorgeous, the lobby is scenic, the vegetation is pretty. We had a corner balcony and could see a snipet of Kata beach from our room. The hotel is across the street from the beach ..literally a 2 minute walk to the sand. We stayed at this hotel 6-21st Dec 2006 and booked as a package deal through Thomson. Our journey to/from Phuket was not as enjoyable as the actual holiday - please avoid longhaul with Thomson, it was pretty dire. We paid extra for 'extra legroom' seats. Don't waste your money...you don't get much for it and our TV was broken all the way back! On arrival at the resort we were over the moon with the temperature and very sunny skies! Kata beach is okay...but more for old people, and very cheesy touristy...I wouldn't ever go there again. We stayed in a great non-traditional hotel, though!!! It was called the Kata Garden Resort and it has these bungalow-style rooms that feel like treehouses amidst a beautiful garden!!! And the pool is SOOOO lovely and the restaurant is nice and people are SOOO friendly and accommodating.
