Orchid Resort Hotel

We booked this hotel for the last three days of our three week south-east asia trip. Rooms: Was a little dissapointed at first regarding the quality of decor of the hotel room, but it was clean and neat and thats really all you want on a trip as your hardly in it anyway. It also had airconditioning, minibar and large bathroom with loads of complimentary toiletries. Stayed at Phuket Orchid from the 18th Oct. for 8 nights.Hotel was booked by a Travel Agent which is always a lottery, but we had a win with this hotel.My wife and two children loved our stay here. Sure you can get really picky and say the rooms may need a bit of a touch up, but they are very clean and we definately had no complaints.The pools are definately a bonus for the children and just have a look at the swim up bar for the adults,amazing. Our family stayed at Phuket Orchid Resort from Sept. 16-30, 2007. We booked a family room through an online travel site and got a good rate with breakfast. We booked primarily for the excellent kids pool since we have twin 2 year old daughters. We enjoyed that until they closed the pool four days into our stay. They told us it was because a pump broke. That happened after we had found lots of tiny bugs in our room (on bed sheets and walls) and had to be switched to another room where we found one of those same bugs there also. When... more

Overall, this is a kid's paradise - over the top decor, amazing pools (with an especially entertaining children's pool with slides,etc), huge breakfast buffets and a very friendly staff. For the price we paid ($45 a night) we really got a bargain! That said, remember that Phuket is a resort town so all prices are pretty inflated, so outside of our included hotel costs, everything else (restaurants, swim up bar, drinks, massages, souvenirs, even sundries) was a little more expensive by Thai standards. This is a great family hotel. the rooms are a bit dated but the pools more than make up for it, they are fantastic there is one childrens pool with slides and water features and two further pools both with swim up bars and snack bars. The food is good had breakfast and lunch there every day but went out in the evening as there are loads of greatresturants in Karon. Our stay at the Phuket Orchid was like being in paradise. We spent a week there and loved every minute. The pools and gardens are amazing. The room we had was very clean and roomy enough for our family of four. (This was one of the few places we could find that would take two kids in the room.) The staff were friendly (and made a fuss of our two kids). The hotel restaurant was NZ prices (but very nice food). The breakfasts were very good (included in the room rate). This hotel is great and perfect for a family travellers. It has a very big swimming pool with a various kind of sliders and play ground. Our room has a direct access to a swimming pool from a room's balconies, that make us very convenient to look out our kids. We had a lot of fun for the entire stay. Overall, I would say that this is the best hotel in Karon Beach for family tourists.

Really lovely hotel, friendly staff and I think it should be 4*. We stayed over the Christmas and New Year and the hotel went to a lot of trouble to make it as festive as it can be ....with the sun shining!! The hotel is ideally situated, just out of the frenzy of Patong and yet the beach is yards away, along with plenty of shops and supermarkets (just dont expect to get an English newspaper tho!!) We were so surprised about this hotel that we have to share how wonderful we thought it was. We paid $53 Australian, via asia rooms i think, and it was the best place we stayed in for our whole two weeks in Phuket. We got a room with pool entry off the balcony. Full buffet breakfast. Flowers on our bed and warm and friendly service, which goes without saying with most things to do with Thai people, but the Orchid seemed to be something extra. We stayed at Phuket Orchid at December 2004. Luckily, the hotel was saved by the Thavorn Palm hotel between Orchid and beach. Our rooms were in new building (2001) and they were very nice and cosy. I visited also in older rooms, and those were.. not so good;) New swimming pool area is like a paradise! Beautiful gardens and lovely swim-up-bar under a huge Buddha statue. There's also another pool, which is very lively, because of Blue Star -program. I highly recommend especially for families with children!!
