I have just returned from this hotel after expecting the worst from reading reviews on this site. Firstly, the location is ideal for getting to either end of the Levante beach area, and there is no "thump thump" noise in the early hours coming from the 18-30 crowd in the... more

Overall the hotel is a 3 star, not 4 as billed. Bedroom was spacious, clean and ok. We were there in march so the outdoor facilities were not used. However they looked ok. The major problem with this hotel was the food which is a disgrace. The hotel was stuffed full of... more

We are a family of 4 - two adults, an 8 and a 6 year old. Room was clean, good choice of food, very friendly staff. 90% of holiday makers were Spanish families. We had a great time, Marina is a very good base to allow you to sunbathe by the pool or walk 5 mins to a lovely... more

The room was good, clean, well serviced and maintained with Sky News available. The location from our perspective was excellent, in the middle of town surrounded by busy bars and restaurants - if you're an early bedder, perhaps not what you want due to late night noise. The... more

Horrible
On arriving at the hotel we was given a room, on getting to the room we were shocked to see how small it was. We asked for room change and had to wait 3 days we feel we had been put into staff occomodation. The hotel was taken with about 75% spanish, we had been told that the hotel was english orientated. we wil not be rushing back to this hotel. The hotel was catering for the spanish pallet therefore out of 7 nights we only ate there twice
It ain't all bad!
Hotel was clean but slightly outdated. Heavy Spanish contingent, but if you don't want the usual sea of fake Burberry, then its OK...... Pool area was good, but would benefit from a regular clean and more functions for the children. Food was volumous, if not a little bland. This appeared to be mass catering style, buffet food. But its not as bad as some of the other reviews. Location is bang in the centre of a speaker testing ground. If you can't understand Spanish music or the Brits singing bad kareoke, (you'll hear it into the wee small hours anyway...), then get some earplugs. This proved to be one of the only major disappointments. However, you can rectify this by visiting the old town which didn't fail to impress. All in all, a good all-rounder, however, very interesting to hear that its going to be dropped by Thomas Cook for next year???? Make up your own mind.
1 week, 5 nights sleep and no phone
Went to the Marina on non package, B&B only 7 night holiday to visit friends/family staying there as they do every year in February. We got one of the biggest rooms in the hotel rooms xx02 on every floor are the largest and very nice I must admit. Only one big down side as we discovered Monday thru Wednesday nights. THE SQUARE UNDER THE HOTEL TO THE LEFT HAND SIDE. A stretch of night clubs (discos) that really kick off about 2am and go on to approx 7am in the morning who knows what it's like in the height of the summer? Don't get me wrong my wife and I are 40 and enjoy a good club (and we did one morning till 315am). However, Mon thru Wed evenings when the locals go bonkers until 7am I didn't expect my room (which was 10 floors up) to sound as if it was inside the club every night. IT DID - 2 nights of broken sleep total = 2 hours solid sleep only to be woken by the pneumatic drills on the Mediteraneo @ 730am every day - all day. I speak reasonable spanish and never once spoke English at reception (I notice other reviews stating Spanish people seem to get preference) I reported our phone was not working in our room to which I had a engineer in our room in 15 mins (not even in the UK would this happen) yes you guessed it no phone all holiday - thank goodness for mobiles. You might think we hated this holiday and hotel. We didn't - The staff were absolutley lovely - UK staff could learn a lesson or two. We did join our friends for 2 evening meals in the hotel €8 per person for a very respectable buffet - not 4 star but what do you expect for €8 each. The room was cleaned by a very lovely maid every day and fresh towels delivered. The bar staff were lovely and the happy hour went down a treat - although can someone please explain the tightness of the older generation buying draught beer, 4 pints at a time, and placing beer mats on them with their names written on them to go for dinner and return more than 1 hour later to warm flat beer? HAPPY HOUR TIGHTNESS! We never stayed for the entertainment, we saw the adverts that was enought to stay away (OAP spectaculars) - although the guy who does the bingo during happy hour is a giggle. One last thing - if you are going to stay here in the winter months be prepared for very rude older generation northern people who are only happy if they walk straight in to you and never feel the need to apologise. They squeeze in to the lifts like they are practicing for their coffins and are only to happy to push you out of the way to get to the lift even if you were there first. Who knows what the Spanish think of it all? In summary - enjoy the hotel B&B stylee and eat out every day lunch and dinner - can recommend Tapas Alley in the old town and Los Ranchos just on the beach front at the bottom of the hotel road third on the left. Staff are lovely and food (Tapas) is spectacular.
food was no stars
i visited this hotel in october, hotel was very good, good location no noise from the local bars, THE FOOD WAS NOT VERY NICE AT all, paid £299 each, thought for a 4srar will be good valueHOW WRONG WAS I, IN fact we ate out 6 nights, out of seven, but we did view the food before going out,if you enjoy your food then i dont recommend this hotel, the food in the yorkshire pride is very good ,and quite expensive, but worth a try,the pool was freezing and always empty, we settled for the shower,we will return to benidorm BUT NOT THIS HOTEL
Four Star ???
Thought we were treating ourselves to something special! The food was bland, repetetive, unappetising and at times, inedible. Show cooking was pizza or kebabs! Rooms were uncleaned and tatty at the edges, as was the seating in the longe areas. Staff were surly and unhelpful. We had better meals at the Chinese restaurant and chippy!! It says it all when someone stole the four stars under the hotel name. To cap it all, cockroaches seemed happy with the food in the dining room.
Nice hotel, awful food
We stayed at the "Marina" hotel December 2004. The rooms and hotels itself were nice and clean, nothing to complain... But the food was just disgusting! Absolutely tasteless, overcooked and with very poor choice.
4 star accomodation, food and staff less than 1 star
Visited the Marina from November 16th 2004 to 30th November 2004 inclusive. The rooms and decor were first class, but the food was absolutely awful, tasteless, cold, very little variety.
Benidorm in November
After reading the various reviews, it was with some trepidation that we set off to the Marina Hotel in Benidorm. On arrival I was pleasantly surprised, the Staff were very friendly and welcoming, after the usual formalities we went up to our Room which overlooked the Pool and also views of the sea, it was clean and comfortable. Reading reviews of the Food, all I can say is that I found the food first class with plenty of variety at each sitting, I am very finicky with food but always found something I liked and being Self Service I certainly had my fill. We did not take in any of the facilities the Hotel offered in the way of Entertainment as we like to visit the various Bars especially the Tower Lounge which is just a short distance from the hotel. The Hotel is centrally situated for all the attractions in Benidorm and just about 5 mins walk down to the Promenade (2 streets away). I will being going to the Marina on my next visit. 2/11/04 to 9/11/04.
Very Nice hotel. Dire food.
Currently staying at the Marina August 2004. Half board. This hotel is in a perfect location and is very impressive. Marble everywhere. The rooms and bathrooms are well equiped and are more than satisfactory for a comfortable stay. The staff are ok, but i get the impression that they would rather be somewhere else as smiles are rare. The hotel in the summer is geared up towards Spannish holiday makers. At the moment there is probably only about 15% Uk holiday makers here. Not great for meeting other people pool side. Now the BIG fault. The food at this hotel is so poor. The only thing I can compare it to is School Dinners. Tasteless, over cooked crap. I ve given it a fair chance but by now (day 7) im eating out all the time. I ve stayed half board in lots of hotels in Gran Canaria and Tenerife and Greece all of which were miles better than the rubbish that is served up here. Any reviews stateing the food is good must be written by people with no sense of taste or the hotel management. I was eating out last night and met a couple from the hotel who also shared my feeling on the food here. Very disappointing.
EXCELLENT HOTEL
Just back from 2 weeks in this hotel and we loved every minute of it. The children were well catered for in entertainment and the food was a treat. We visited both the gym and the hairdresser. The staff were all very kind and helpful, especially Frankie. We will definately be back to this hotel and believe me, we have been going to Benidorn for over 16 years so we have stayed in a few.
