after stopping in the jaz mirabel park earlier in march i thought the beach would be a bit more special, WRONG, yes it's spacious and clean but the service was awful, we always give a tip where ever we go but this was expected far too much, i thought i would have to tip them for just talking to them at one stage, the park is far more down to earth with excellent service, i would not go here again just put this one down to bad experience

I went to Jazz with my Mother in June this year, we spent a long time choosing a holiday destination as it was my Mum's first holiday for 5yrs. I had a wonderful experience of Sharm el Shaik in October 2006 staying at Dreams Beach/Vacation with a group of friends and their family and couldn't speak highly enough of my holiday hence why I persuaded Mum to look at Egypt.
We chose Jazz as Thompson spoke so highly of it and the website looked beautiful: Private beach, lots of swimming pools, fantastic food etc (everything we wanted - no pizza and chips, no racing for sunbeds in the morning, no tacky entertainers etc).
How wrong we were:
The Thompson Platinum upgrade was a complete joke, when we arrived in Sharm there was complete caos with Thompson reps not knowing who was supposed to be on which coach. We were kept waiting for 2hrs on a coach with no air con, sat in the direct sun.
Once we had arrived at the holtel, we were all told to be "patient" as Thursdays were the hotel's busiest day!! Again kept waiting for about an hour, then finally shown to our room. The hotel is a bit of a maze, there is poor signage and we were not shown any of the bars or restaurants where we could go for a much needed cold drink and dinner (if they were still serving by the time we had recieved our bags).
We found the All Inclusive Restaurant which I can only describe as "feeding time at the zoo". Everything was tastless and I couldn't find much in the way of local food.
Our first few days in the restaurant, we were looked after by one particular waiter who was a bit intense however we soon realised after he took his annual leave that he was much better to have than what was to come.
It is not clear at all which of the pool bars are included in the package as the menu's have prices on them.
The hotel and it's rooms are stunning, the beach is beautiful too but the 5* All Inclusive Package is non-existant. By the pool we were ignored, on the beach we were ignored, in the canteen we were ignored. I think I drank less fluids on this holiday than I do when I'm at home and it was 40deg most days.
I'm 23yrs old, I have my own flat and consider myself to be quite independent so when I found I had to get my Mum to accompany me to get food, to get towels, to get drinks because waiters in the canteen and staff around the pool and beach would touch and stare and make innapropriate comments to me, I really wanted to catch the earliest flight home. Even when my Mum approcahed the waiters to ask them what they thought they were doing, they didn't shy away instead they would ask if they could take me to Naama bay or if they could give her camels in return for me.
We went into the shopping area of the hotel one night, I have never been so scared in my life, I was dragged into a shop infront of my Mum and told to stay and have Egyptian tea with them or I would offend them. Needless to say we never went back at night time and what with a complete lack of any traditional Egytian entertainment in the evening, we would retire to the room after our dreaded meal in the canteen around 9pm.
From around the second day into our holiday, we had awful tummy cramps which never went away. I have been to Egypt before so I know what to expect and this is more than the normal Egyptian belly. I would see birds sitting on plates and food waiting to be served, glasses re-used or just swung under a running tap (this water is not supposed to be ingested) and handed back to you with flat coke or fanta.
During our second week, we both lost three days of our holiday where we were only able to leave the room once to get some bottled water and dry, plain and packaged biscuits from the hotel shop. We were so violently ill, you can see from our photos the weight we lost. This was definately down to the lack of hygeine and food preperation.
We reported this to our Thompson rep who was a complete wet lettuce and told us he had not heard of this from anyone else, to expect and Egyptian belly and to expect attention as I was blond. He was not interested in the slightest and neither was his college when we reported it to her the following day.
As our holiday was coming to an end (hallalouiah), we decided to book a day's boat cruise with Mr. Diver (the guys around the pool and beach area). Half the price of Thompson but the BEST THING WE EVER DID! Amazing day, private snorkelling instruction, beautiful sights and lovely lovely people. Please do not let Thompson force you to book through them! If we could of spent every day on this boat with these people, we would of jumped at the chance.
On our final night we plucked up the courage to eat. We wanted to use our voucher for one of the A la Carte restaurants, we chose Lebanese. What a wonderful evening, the food the amazing, the waiters were a different breed and very interesting to note that the head Chef felt the same way as us about the managemnet of this hotel ruining what would used to be a wonderful resort. He couldn't appologise enough about how we had been treated during our stay.
The next morning, (we were NOT violently ill!!!) we packed up and vacated the room as requested by 12.00. We forced ourselves into the canteen one last time and had bread rolls and a drink when they finally decided to serve us. I think this was also the only time that we were able to leave the table to go up for food and return without finding our table had been given away.
We sat in the lobby ready for our 3pm Coach Pick-up. 3.15 came, 3.30 came and went with no word from Thompson. Finally our coach arrived and our bags were put on. Once we arrived at the air port, we were offloaded and told to get our bags OFF THE COACH. I had to climb into the hold and search for ours (Mum has severe back problems), I started to climp out with one to bang my head on the metal door which had swung down on me. As soon as I could stand, an Egyptian man snached my bag and demanded money to have it back claiming I had asked him for help as a porter. You can imagine my anger by this stage, a few stern words and I had my bag back.
I can honestly say Egypt has been ruined for me, I cannot see a return trip in the near future. I feel completely let down the Thompson who recommend this hell hole of a resort, management there seriously need to look at their staff as they have a beautiful complex there with so much potential. We wasted an awful lot of money and time.
As for my Mum's first holiday in 5yrs, she must hate me for recommending Egypt however she chose the hotel haha! I returned to work stressed, not very tanned and my Mum needing another holiday.

I booked this hotel after carefully consideration for myself and my sisters family (2 girlsd 12 & 3). Myself and my husband had been to egypt before so raved about how good the holiday was going to be!!! Where to start? Overall the holiday was ok. The hotel was the cleanest I've been to and the cleaning staff were wonderful. We both had family rooms and they were very spacious and nicley decorated. The main restaurant had the most appaling service I have every encounted (even in this country). The staff were rude, the tables were fithly and they just could not keep up with amount of people.
The snack bars were even worse. We sat there for 20 mins 1 day waiting to order for the children and when we asked for the 3 rd time to order the waiter just strarted shouting at us. We then discovered the smaller restaurant and didn't look back. The staff were great and the tables were always clean ready for the next person. The al a carte were excellant. We went to the italian from our vouchers with Thomson and had a great time. Amazingly the waiter in the snack bar was our waiter for the night!! He did actaully apologies and said that they are told to serve certain guests before others!!!!
The chinese was the best. this could have been down to the hotel giving us a complimentary meal due to the appaling service but I will give them the benefit of the doubt!!! Trying to get drinks was a nightmare. You would order drinks and wait for a good 10 mins. We would then order again and then all the drinks would turn up at the same time!!! This was really frustrating after a while. Also the waiters just would not leave the 3 year old alone. Most nights they had her in tears. I know they were just being friendly but they just wouldn't listen when we said that she was shy!!!
We had 2 reps. One was great and listened to our woes but the other treated anyone who complained as if we were making it up. And yes a lot of people were complaining. The worst of it all was we were told not to tip until the end of the holiday by the reps but I believe this was part of the problem. They worked long hours for very little pay and probable gave their attention to the people who did tip!!!
So disapoined with the trip. This is not what we were expecting from a 5 star hotel!!!
just got back from family...

just got back from family holiday with my husband and two children worst holiday i have ever had. Rooms are clean beds changed each day nice pool and nice sunbathing spots on the beach sounds good but it was not staff in the resturant are over friendly they were chatting up my 12 year old daughter she does not have blond hair she has dark hair and blue eyes which they kept telling her she is the sort of girl the egyptians like. She became quite afraid of them they kept comming up to her and touching her and as soon as she went for food they were next to her. I asked to speak to the manager and asked if they could leave her alone this did not happen. My husband started to get cross with the way they were going on so i spoke to guest relations about this . She is russian and told me to write it down so i did she then sat and read it and laughed about it I said to her how would the muslim men feel if a british man came on to one of there women or daughters the way they came on to my daughter she responded with another laugh. That was the last time we ate at the hotel because that night myself.husband, and both children came down with bad stomach cramps then sickness and the other this lasted for 11 days we took immod/tablets alka selza/tablets sold to us by the chemist on site and nothing worked. We booked a trip with the thomson rep to go to ciaro we got picked up at 4.20am but walking through the lobby which is all marbel i slipped as they washed the floors and sprained my ankle i had to hop all over ciaro got lots of pain killers but when got back to hotel got no help. At ciaro we got hassled at the pyramids the men on camels wont leave you alone i could not get away from them because of my foot they aske if you would like them to take your photograph say no because they will charge you to give it back to you. The children run after you to buy of them the wont leave you they keep shouting asda price, and cheaper than prime mark. The night under the stars is a good night also i recomend the jeep safari but dont go in flip flops because they have you climbing up rocks, also dont be fooled about buying the dvd which cost 15.00 as they dont work very good at home, I bought 3 of each trip load of rubbish. made friends with lots of other english people who had lots of problems so it was not just a one off for my family . The free safe in the room only works if you press the red button hidden inside not many people know this so they contact the reception and yes the man expects a tip happens to every one. dont buy magazine on beach take it with you womens own cost me £7.00 and helo magazine cost £8.00 i discovered if you are not english it is cheaper they like to rip the english off. Nama bay is hassel hassel hassel and again over priced if english they all stop you and ask are you english, one man asked me why is there less english people comming here i did not reply because i dont think he would like the reply. I rate the hotel as a 3 star at the most the food and staff let it down, however mohammad who works at the beach bar is very nice to every one and so is the rest of the bar staff, reception staff, guest relations and restuarant staff let this hotel down. electricity also goes off quite often and if this happens late at night the aircon goes off the heat is terrible.tried to change flight and come home early with out much luck so stayed for the 2 weeks of hell and lived off junk as we stayed away from resturant horay the time came to go home we had to get out of the room at 12 but luggage had to stay outside of room unattended untill 1.30 i said no to this and carried my own luggage to reception which they asked my to take it back to my room untill they would collect it i said no. the first thing they aske you at the airport have you left your luggage unattended well most people did. the thomson rep can not come in to the airport the airport is run by military police yet again all men when we went through the scanners a policeman picked up my husbands wallet and mobile and helped himself to english money when my husband asked him what are you playing at he put his hand on his gun then the other hand on to my husbands hand and told him to move on. when we got inside we were really shocked we went in to a shop and i was going to buy my children 1 kitkat each they asked are you english i said yes they said £16.00 for 2 kitkats i told them to get lost and walked out as at this ;point i had enough of the egyeptians attitude towards english
when we sat down at the boarding gate it did not stop there the police were taping young girls from10 to about 16 on there mobile phones and showing other police and having a laugh i sat and watched this happen. One of them got there eye on my daughter and tried to tape her so i stood in front so he could not do this 2 girls about 15 with there family got taped they were getting on to the lutton flight on 18th august 2008
but were not aware of what the police were doing. I think one of the police saw me watching what they were up to and took the other police away for a chat, lucky for me our plane borded at that point. I have travled around the world and this is the most frightening place i have ever been to i would never ever go back again or recomend it to anyone .

We booked through Travel Now for Jaz Mirabel Breach & Spa Resort in Sharm El Sheikh for the 28 July 2008 for 2 weeks 5* All Inclusive deal. We wanted a sea view but was told that not one was available, so settled for the Superior Deluxe Double Room. This was booked 3 months prior to travel. When we got the confirmation through, we noticed that it said Jaz Mirabel Club, so we questioned it. They said that it the same hotel as there are 3 hotels on the same complex. When we arrived we were taken to our Superior Deluxe Room which obviously was not so was slightly disappointed. Arrived quite late so unpacked and did not walk round the complex until the next day. To our further disappointment, we discovered that we could only use 1 restaraunt, 1 pool bar and if we went onto the other sites we would have to pay for everything else.
We have been to Egypt before and have stayed in 5*, this was obvioulsy not. You went for breakfast and if you were not quite early you had to set up your own table. Nobody came around with tea or coffee. This was the same throughout our stay. I know its only two weeks of your life so we just got on with it. Lunch & evening meals were very much the same. Struggled for tables not a varied enough menu. Chips everyday, Rice, potatoes and I have never seen so much chicken. Italian night was good, I went to get lasagne and salad for evening meal, sat down to eat it and found it had not meat or cheese in it so really it was layered pasta. English night was the same disappointment, shepherds pie with the sparingly pieces of mince meat mixed into the mashed potatoes. It became a joke. We had words with our rep on the 2nd day who told us not to talk about it whilst in the company of others. He said that they will have a word. Nothing changed. Constant power cuts and the smell of sewerage everyday & night. I mentioned about the smell and they said "it was to keep the mosquitos away". In the four time I have previously been to Egpyt I have never come across any mosquitos.
The entertainment was a joke even for Egypt. Usually on Wednesday night you get Egyptian Night. Obviously not at the Jaz Mirabel. The entertainment staff were German so everything (what there were) was geared up for Germans. There also was a very anoying Italian there who did entertaining. But Cos we dont speak Italian or German we never knew what they said except for water gym. They played a CD from 10.30 to middle of the after noon, mostly german or 1960's but not always in english. This used to get stuck and jump so you were better off without it. What was funny is that it once got stuck on 'silence is golden' which was a joke really. That's it. What I would suggest is that if you want entertainment either take your I pod or go to another hotel.
On a positive note, the complex is lovely, beach miles away but good for Egypt. No good for divers though. You can walk right in from the beach so no coral. Hence no fish either. Plenty of divers who want to take you though.
The staff in the bars were very nice and always happy but I wish I could say that about the restaurant staff.
The cleaners were hit and miss. Cleanliness not so great. This is only our opinion you could love it. We did not.

This hotel is perfect - pools beach close by, food is ace and service and staff fantastic.
Firstly my daughter left her hand luggage in the taxi - everything was in it Ipod Nitendo DS etc etc, she was very upset and was crying as we were checking in, they told us not to worry within 2 hours we had the bag back with everything in it, this was all down to a guy called sharif, he is a superstar and only works and a bagman which is a shame.
I can totally recommend the on site spa, I had a full body massage and facial and haggled the down to £22 for the both from £65 so get you haggling head on!! you will be missing out if you don't the Jazzui steamrooms and sauna are free so give them ago they are fantastic.
so from my review above you want to know why a 7, well there was a fault with our aircon by day 8 we had started with coughs and flu like syptoms by day 11 I had to get a doctor out as my temp had sky rocketed and I was so ill - the hotel doctor kept telling me it was a common cold (by this time I had spend over £100 in the chemist in flu and cold remedies) Still i was ill ended up in Sharm Clinic on a drip who told me they get a lot of people from Jaz Mirabel with these issues, the hotel doctor didn't want me to go and was daily giving me antibiotic injections (which I have the most colourful bruises from) any way he had to admit defeat and send me there in a taxi, after 10 hours on a drip and being pumped full of wonder juice they got me on my plane, still 2 weeks on I am having trouble breathing coughing and my doctor has done tests told me that it must have come from faultly aircon, insurance comapny had to take over the cost of the care and they are now chasing it up. This isn't just me there is a background of coughs in the restaurant there is always a queue in the chemist, was i unlucky yes it got bad for me, but there is a issue with there aircon and they don't seem to want to fix it!!!
I did have a great time until this, I have read other reviews with people complain about a holiday tummy etc etc, its not like that, if a kid got as ill as I did it might not end as pretty, this is a issue that the hotel needs to deal with ASAP.
If you have booked to go, don't worry just don't use you aircon - if your going to book mention this to you tour operator, the hotel might fix it quicker!!
This hotel is beatuiful, the staff are great the food fantastic everything you could want from an all inclusive holiday.
However you don't expect to be floored by something as simple as aircon, so beware people - by they way i am taking steriod sprays and tablets and weekly check ups still.

jaz mirabel beach is part of 3 hotel resort, the other two being jaz mirabel park and club. All three are rated 5 star, but only the beach part is actually 5 star, the other two are 3 1/2 - 4 star max. The difference between the beach hotel and the other two is massive. The location of beach speaks for itself, the other two vary from 400 - 600 metres to the beach. On the subject of the beach - it is very coarse sand - you will need beach shoes (£2.50 from local shops), after the sand, there is a mixture of sand/coral and shallow for approx 600 yards to the breakers where the actual "sea" begins, the access to the sea is very difficult due to the reef, and I would not reccomend trying to do so. There is access approx 1 mile left, which opens up into a bay, where the snorkelling is superb, and well worth the long hot walk ! (Take water !)The system of "All inclusive" is the normal one of wristbands, and this is supposed to give "access all areas" - but that is NOT how the system actually works.Basically,if you stay on park, you can drink & dine in park, if you stay on club, you can drink & dine on club etc.
If you ask for even water on a different hotel, you have to pay !
I can only give a reflection on the beach hotel, as that is where we stayed as a family of my wife, two teenage daughters, (18 & 16) and myself. It is fair to say that on listening to other guests from park & club, that the disparity in quality of accomodation and other facililities is like day & night.
We had two adjoining rooms that were large and airy with huge showers and a balcony.
The linen was changed every day, and the rooms were also tidied to a high standard ( you can imagine how teenage girls leave rooms !)
Everywhere is kept immaculate, and all maintainence is done at night. On the subject of "delhi belly" - we all suffered at some time - but could not identify any particular item of food - which was excellently presented, and varied every day.We ourselves put it down to a combination of heat/change of diet/dehydration, although we drank water regularly throughout the day.
The waiters are under immense pressure, and do their best at all times, but due to short staffing - service can be slow - I found that a £1 tip on receipt of pre-meal drinks worked wonders !
I am very fortunate that I have three very atractive, blue eyed, blond haired females in my life, but I joke not, it was as if the male staff had never seen a woman before, shall we say that they had a lot of attention, even if I was in their presence, but it was all done in good humour (I think!)
There was varied entertainent every night, if this is not to your taste - a taxi to Naama Bay is approx £15 - £20 return, they will arrange meet and you pay when you get back to the hotel - a good system I think ! Do go to Naama it is wild !
Ps look after your supplied towels - they do go missing & you will be charged !
ENJOY !

We visited the Mirabel Park Hotel in February 08 with our two sons age 14 and 16.
Compared to other hotels we have stayed in Spain and the Canaries, it was very impressive and luxurious, the grounds were huge. It is part of a complex of the Mirabel Club (not impressed) and the Mirabel Beach which was quite classy looking and even larger, but we preferred the Park.
We got one "free" meal in either the Italian, Lebanese or Oriental restaurant, which are shared by all three hotels, nice but nothing to write home about (we chose Italian). The food was pretty good in our restaurant and snack bar.
Otherwise you have to use your own restaurant and bars, apart from the snack bar at the beach end of the Beach Hotel, where the staff were quite rude!
In our hotel however the bar and restaurant and cleaning staff were superb, very pleasant and helpful whether tipped or not! We did tip but not every time. The snack bar in the middle of the pool was nice and did fabulous ice creams.
There were two lovely pools in our hotel and another with enormous waterslides which kept our sons occupied for ages. Also an indoor pool and spa, lovely but our boys were too young to use it or the gym. It is adults only.
We made our own entertainment by playing cards together in the bar in the evening. Feburary is not warm enough to sit outside at night and it got crowded in the only bar. -occasional entertainment in there but you had to be early to get a seat.
There is an ampitheatre but was not open during our visit.
The hotel is quiet, the rooms are lovely and I would recommend it for anyone wanting a relaxing, good value break away from it all. But not for young people wanting to go to Naama bay as its a long way.
I would definately like to return to Sharm but probably in april as it is very windy at times in Feb which is irritating, we were lucky to have a lovely terrace room where we put our sunbeds which sheltered us and still gave us a good view of the pool

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a week spent at the Jaz Mirabel club. We arrived at 1am after a 4 hour delay at Birimingham airport so couldn't see much of the hotel when we arrived but were quickly shown to our room. We were supposed to have an evening meal at the hotel but as we arrived late the restaurant was closed and we had to go to bed with no food but we had eaten on the plane so it wasn't too bad.
Positives:
The hotel complex itself was clean and well maintained with a plentiful amount of space to relax and enough sunbeds for everyone.
Staff were mostly very friendly and good at their jobs
Room was clean with amazing air con and a huge bathroom big enough for 5!!!
The kids entertainment was always on the go, plus the complex has waterslides to keep even big kids happy.
Private beach is beautiful with plenty of marine life if you want to go snorkelling. Although if you want to go and snorkel around the shipwreck I would advise wearing shoes as there are sea urchins and it's rocky.
Negatives:
Although the food provided was nice, there wasn't a wide variety of choice. Also (myself included) a lot of people had upset stomachs so take some immodium!!!
The staff were sometimes too friendly and you felt like you were being pressured into giving them a tip. Also the staff are all male and act like they have never seen a woman before so be prepared to be chatted up at every opportunity.
The hotel had staff selling beauty services, henna tattoos and english magazines and they approached you every day to buy. Just tell them to go away, they soon get the message!!
In regards to the rest of our holiday, we did 2 excursions. We went snorkelling around Ras Mohammad. The boat took you to 3 different locations and left to to explore the coral reefs. We would definately recommend this because if was an amazing experience and there's lots to see. We also went quad biking in the desert. I'm quite small so found it very difficult to stear the bikes and ended up on the back of my boyfriends. It was still a good experience and you get to meet the desert locals whilst you're out there.
As for Bookable Holidays (Teletext), we would probably never book with them again as we found them very unhelpful during the booking process. We were told we had to book transfers and paid £30 return for the both of us, only to find out at a latr date that the transfer to the hotel was included and the return was only £5 each!!! We were also told we were only allowed 15kg of luggage which we had to pay for and once we got our tickets from the airport we found out 20kg was included. Finally we decided to opt out of the inflight meals and turned them down when offered them on both flights as we thought we hadn't paid for them. It turned out the meals were actually included. There incompetence was summed up for us by the fact that they had spelt the name of the hotel wrong on our booking form.
Overall this hotel was a very good one and we would definately go back again, but with a different tour operator.

this was our first time to sharm and getting on the coach and looking around is abit of an eye opener, you are literally in the middle of the desert with just half built hotels around.but the minute you get to this hotel you completely forget about the outside world.everything about it is stunning.i was shocked every morning to see workers actually scrubbing walls.thats how clean this hotel is.i was over the moon by receiving different towel animals on our bed each day and was even bought a bunch of flowers. Here are a few tips that might help you if you are going here.....girls,if you are like me and only drink malibu then your in for an alcohol free week.the drinks included in the all inclusive are.beer, whisky, dark rum,gin and vodka.everything else you have to pay for.the 10 min walk the rep tells you about to go snorkelling is actually 30 mins and when you get there the whole coast line is full of jelly fish so i didnt bother coz im a whimp.thats the only points you really need to know because everything else is perfect.the pool would not be the same without a man called ramadan.he is up at 6 putting you a towel out reserving you a space and making you feel welcome every second.we came home with him as a new friend,we exchanged email and mobiles and will definately be keeping in touch.the blue bar also has the best barman in the world.he is the friendliest man you will ever meet.i shed a tear with the fact of leaving this hotel and its staff and we will be returning ASAP

Just got back from this terrific holiday! The rooms were nicely furnished, the staff were so kind and helpful and the decor and general layout of the place was great. Did suffer from a little upet stomach, but I suppose most people have, so I'm told.
The food was just as good and there were always plenty of choices for all meals. I would definately recommend this hotel for a relaxing, very pleasant holiday, ideal for all ages and plenty to see and do. Can't wait to go again at Christmas!!!!!
