I think it is possibly the best hotel we have stayed at in the last 20 years. The food is very very good with great selection. The staff are unbelievably friendly and there are so many little extras which really make you feel welcome. The only bad point is the journey from... more

excellant staff
stayed here in june, very nice hotel but one or two little drawbacks you cant get a drink outside after 5 pm unless you are a saga guest and the balconies are very small and have no furniture on them .Anyone staying here must visit Tango Beach(just thru tunnel or round headland ),incredible place, free sunbeds ,live music, waiter service and great food .Made the trip to montenegro worthwhile
Contrasts of Montenegro
My wife & I spent the last two weeks of April 2007 at Hotel Montenegro, near Budva. In common with other reviewers,we agree that the Hotel cannot be faulted for cleanliness, cheerful, helpful staff and an entertainment crew who would be difficult, if not impossible to improve upon. The Hotel food is good, varied and plentiful. Worthy of special mention though are their soups, bread and rolls - and the black olives! Montenegro scenery can only be described as dramatic and majestic, but the standard of toilets in cafes and bars leaves a great deal to be desired. They are often appalling. The location of Hotel Montenegro is O.K. but the town (?) is not very attractive and there is a great deal of building work going on. The beach may have won an award in 1935 but times have changed,it is mainly grit rather than sand, with pebbles at the water line. Budva Old Town (Stari Grad) is a GEM, but do not be afraid of the stray dogs and just ignore the "gipsy" beggars. All things considered, the good far outweighs the not-so-good.
A for Excellence!
An excellent superb hotel in Becici, just a hop away from Budva. I was most impressed with its cleaniness, helpful staff and service. Good breakfast buffets every morning, with plenty of choice. Very comfortable and clean room, comfy bed and modern bathroom with shower. In short, I could not have asked for more. It was a Pleasant stay . Due to the time of year of my visit, I could not enjoy the beach, however, I did walk the grounds and it is again excellent, well maintained and clean. I do recommend this hotel with no hesitation.
Home from (Ikea) home
2 year old beach front hotel ideal for summer holidays. Rooms furnished maple veneer, Ikea style. Clean and everything new, but a bit soulless (bland). Very annoying piped music in all the corridors starts at 08.00 (some kind of alarm clock??), but had stopped by 09.00. Judging by a previous reviewer, this may have been a fault in the system. Yes, the music is audible in the room, so take earplugs if you are a light sleeper and want to get to sleep early or have a lie in ! Beds are very low, and not very comfortable. Bathrooms are OK, smallish with no bath. We had booked a kingsize bedroom and got a twin. Having had the same thing the night before in Dubrovnik, we decided to ask for the king size we booked. We ended up on the 4th floor and got the impression that we were the only ones there! If it hadn't been for the muzak it would have been pleasantly quiet. Food was nothing special. Buffet style. Reasonable choice. Bar was very stark. Glaring lights. €95 for 2 B&B was more expensive than Excelsior 5* in Dubrovnik, so not especially good value.
Wonderful Time
We had a late holiday 17TH OCTOBER 06 the weather was very good. The hotel was outstanding, staff could not be more friendly. The food you couldnt ask for anything better. Pool very good. Admittedly we went with the Saga Group, they were very good as was their rep. and our entertainment staff were excellent, a great bunch of youngsters. Plenty of trips to go on, Budva, Dubrovnik, and Montenegro Tour a must. What amazing views from the mountains. Not much to spend your money on, as our holiday was all inclusive. The walk into Budva was very pleasant, as to the little fishing village across the bay a few bars and resturants. Good views. The best thing of all was the lovely people we met in the hotel, we seemed all to get on and had some real fun.
Lovely hotel & facilities
We stayed for a week between 16/9 to 23/9. Although the weather was awful for the first couple of days, we spent time in the indoor pool and jacussi. When the weather cleared we spent time on the beach which was lovely. The food was plentiful and a very good choice. The staff were always very pleasant and helpful, the girl who greeted us as we went into the restaurant helped us converse with a russian! The safe in the rooms we thought were a real asset. The rooms themselves were reasonable size and very clean. The entertainment is slightly lacking for this hotel. Paragliding was a great experience, but be careful who you go with! Montengro tour and trip to Dubrovik highly recommended. Although the toilets in the hotels are of a high standard, the public toilets aren't so my advise is try not to use them unless you are really desparate. Montengro is a very quiet resort and there are not many facilities. You need to go to Budva for shopping and bank etc. If you want a peaceful and realaxing time we recommend it.
Can't fault it
We have just returned from 2 weeks at this superb hotel which is actually situated in a place called Becici a little way out of Budva. The welcome was warm, the food outstanding and lots of choice. The staff all pleasant. Rooms were comfortable. Everywhere in the hotel was kept spotless. The waiters were always smart and twice a week they wore a different uniform. One night when there was a folklore presentation at the hotel they wore a traditional top and another - fish night they wore a naval top. All nice little touches. The selection of breads was amazing especially at breakfast. There were cereals, cold selection of meats and cheeses, cooked breakfast, pastries. Twice a week there was a milk shake Lunch and evening meal had four courses. As well as the sea right next to the hotel with free towels, beds and umberellas, there is seating and beds around the outdoor pools and a heated indoor pool, jacuzzis and saunas with seating round to relax after your swim or dip which is kept at a comfortable temperature. Its an easy walk into Budva or you can use the free shuttle bus run by the hotel or pick up the noddy train outside the nextdoor hotel and ride in for 2 euros. We'll definitely return
Magical Montenegro
We have just returned from a trip to Montegro and stayed here at Hotel Montenegro. The staff were very friendly and always helpful. The hotel is well appointed, kept very clean and the food is varied and of a high quality. We visited as many places as we could but as it was the end of the season some trips our travel company organised were cancelled so we had the fun of getting to places on our own. This was fairly easy and extremely cheap on local transport. The travel industry in Montengro is obviously in its infancy and some places need a little tender loving care but that all leads to its charm. Do visit before its too touristy especially Ostrag Monastry where you need a head for heights and a stomach as strong as an ox to travel the perilous road up there, not to be attempted by the faint of heart. Kotor is worth a visit too. Climb the 1500 steps to the fortress for a good view, try not to miss a trip around the fjord , Budva, Sveti Stefan. I could go on but you need to discover it for youself
A lovely stay
My partner and I had a really nice time - we stayed half board for seven days. The hotel is exceptionally clean, the food is buffet style and offers a huge choice. The rooms are well equipped and you are provided with a range of samples so pack light! Our room was facing the front, but was quiet in the evening. There were three smallish pools of differing temperatures (one for small children) . The poolside was never too packed so no need to fight to get a sun lounger. The staff are very accomodating and friendly. The only thing that was an annoyance for me was the constant bombardment of music. There were speakers in the halls outside the bedooms which started at around 8am and went on till around midnight. As a musician myself, I love music but would rather choose the music I listen to rather than being force-fed 'Take That' at 8am!!
Pleasantly surprised
My wife & I booked to stay in the Hotel Montenegro on a half board basis. We were a bit nervous about what to expect but were really surprised. The rooms were quite big and looked liked they were newly furnished recently. The food in the restaurant was very good and there was actually a far better variety than we had expected. The hotel backed onto the beach where it had its own area sectioned off. Beds and parasols were free and also towels were provided free. The hotel was well maintained. If I had any complaint it would be that the staff seemed to be a bit surly but we were subsequently told that this tends to be a native trait and not anything personal. Everything about the place was very laid back and I would highly recommend it to anybody looking for a cheap get away from it all holiday. Did I mention the wine was only €1.40 a glass and a bottle of beer €1.80. What more could you ask for!!
