Rosemary and her husband welcome you into their home as their guests. Its like joining a house party. The bedrooms are very comfortable and homely, the bathrooms clean, well equipped and bright. Breakfast is hearty, freshly cooked and the eggs are from their own hens. The owners are chatty, fun and committed to ultimate hospitality. There is a comfy sitting room for the guests, complete with television and the place is within spitting distance of Glyndebourne and close to lovely Lewes town. One of our party had to leave at 6.55am but Rosemary was happy to do him poached eggs on toast for breakfast. "Icouldn't let him go to work without something to eat" she said.
We highly recommend Ranscombe
House for those who want simple home comforts in a lovely farm setting.

We were attending Glyndebourne and needed a B and B nearby. Booked it in May with the very friendly and helpful Rosemary who runs the farmhouse b and b with her husband. We had a warm welcome, parked just across the road in the paddock, and were given two rooms both with lovely new ensuite shower rooms. Our double bedroom was very spacious. (Lewes room) The house is an old farmhouse with huge character and charm - much like the owners who could not have been more helpful. Missing cufflinks were kindly loaned and although breakfast normally at 8-9am our need for one toast and coffee breakfast at 6.45am were met with an offer of poached eggs which were duly served. Full English breakfast served with their own delicious eggs. All a lovely experince. Extremely convenient for the A27 and for Glyndebourne I would happily return.

We (senior couple m/f) enjoyed our one night stay in this ancient farmhouse just off the A27 about 3 miles east of Lewes. Our hostess could not have been more welcoming, establishing and meeting our needs with brisk smiling efficiency. The location is ideal for Glyndebourne(about 2 miles away through Glynde village),for Newhaven and East sussex coast and downs, and various NT houses and gardens. We very much hope to return, for longer.
This business changed hands in 2008 and is now operated by the same long locally established family who own the adjoining s/c bungalows, working farm and new tea-room. There has been considerable investment (new bathrooms). Furnishings/decor have been refreshed in sympathy with the house. The spacious double bedroom ('Lewes')we were offered faced the downs over A27 (whose traffic noise we found relatively inobtrusive). There's also a comfortable, roomy separate sitting room for guests. Offroad parking was plentiful.
Full or light breakfast was pleasantly served. NB Open May - September only. We paid GBP70, about right for one night, we thought: presumably so do others,as repeat business seems considerable.

Over night stay in this B&B just...

Feb 2007, Miss A E Kearns

Over night stay in this B&B just outside village of Glynde on a country lane.
No parking except close to wall on country lane - quite road but not ideal.
Told to come between 4 & 5pm to check in - again not brilliant having to hang around then told they had been waiting for us to arrive, when we knocked at door at 4.15pm.
Odd smell when you enter the hallway not sure what it was, but pets welcome and may well have been wet dog smell, fine if dog lovers.
We were placed in the Peacock room with a four poster double bed - spacious comfortable room with very large bathroom, decor very dated and not particularly well done.
TV in room you could not control channels as it was connected to sky and you had to watch what owners were watching in the private part of b&b, so not sure why even have the TV there in first place.
Good supply of tea and coffee in room with kettle and cups though one was chipped.
Hot water tank fed system meaning hot water ran out quickly not exactly practical as they advertise local hiking.
Good fresh cooked breakfast from 8am to 9,15am and a 10,15am check out.
Cost £60 for couple per night and £45 for a single per night.
Pleasant place, friendly owner, very odd arrangement re TV and on pricy side for a b&b
I would not choose to stay there again as place just felt strange.
