Party Mad Central
from CreativEmpire
If you like being close to everything, this is it. However, be prepared to take your earplugs! During the weekends it's like being in the middle of a party nutters paradise. Although there were plenty of young adults staggering about being sick against the lamp-posts, there seemed to be very little trouble. This could be due to the police and ambulances doing regular patrols. The hotel and rooms were clean, and rooms are provided with a TV and tea/coffee making facilities. The beds are a little too firm, and the food in the restaurant is expensive. However, a small 30 second walk to Eddie Rockets on the corner soon solved the need for tasty food without the price tag. Although parking is available, it's not Premier Inn's, it's an NCP - and you have to pay! 24 hour parking costs around £5. Staff are friendly and polite, although this alters depending on the time of day, and if it's past the witching hour. Overall: This is a hotel built predominantly for singles in search of entertainment, and who doesn't care where they crash. If I had to stay here due to the other hotels in the area being fully booked, then I probably would. Although for a bit more money, i'd go and stay at The Village where there are more services, better hospitality, and a little extra luxury.
Absolutely fine

You pretty much know what you're getting with a premier inn and this was no exception. Yes the location is in the centre of town but when you are booking a premier inn it's always wise to take earplugs as the sound insulation from the windows is not great. unless you are in the middle of nowhere. The staff were very polite and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, there was some noise from people opening and closing doors and from outside but earplugs helped to solve this. If I had money to spend on taxis and the hotel rate I would stay at The Village hotel in Swansea. If you need a cheaper place to stay and are not expecting five star luxury then this is a very good option.
would go back tomorrow

having travelled to wales for a family wedding, we were worried after reading the reviews. our experience was thoroughly enjoyable, staff were polite and friendly, rooms spotless, hotel offered a luggage store until we were ready for checkout. the only disadvantage this hotel has , is that the bar/ restaurant closes through the day so inconvenient if you fancy a quick bite. all said i would not hesitate to return to the premier travel inn
For party animals or those with ear plugs.........

Stayed here for two nights, whilst attending an old boys hockey tournament at the Uni. Arrived at around 8pm when Wind St. was just getting going. The hotel promotes a "Good Night Guarantee" - but unless they fitted quadruple glazing I can't see how they could stop the noise of the pubs and clubs. We thought the window was open when we arrived - but it wasn't. But actually this hotel worked well for us as it was centrally located and we didn't get in until 3pm each night when Wind St has closed down. It is pleasing to see door supervisors on the hotel door at night guaranteeing that only hotel residents get in. There are a lot of drunk people roaming around at night. So in summary - the hotel is clean and modern but don't stay here unless you are enjoying the city night life or bring some heavy duty ear plugs!
served a purpose

We stayed here in March 07, we wanted to stay in cardiff, as england were playings wales at rugby, cardiff was all booked up so rather than miss out, stayed in swansea, and caught the train to cardiff for the day. Upon arrival the staff were very polite, and had one of our rooms available so that we could get rid of our bags. rooms were quite large and very clean, we were offered breakfast the next morning at a cost of £6.50 per head all you could eat. The breakfast was good, could have been a little warmer, but plenty of coffee, tea, cereal, full english etc We arrived back at hotel at 2am, the staff on duty were very polite and hepful. Considering this is a busy part of town especially at night, we did not hear any noise from our room. We paid £69 for two people bed and breakfast on a busy saturday night, so I do feel that is good value. The NCP car park next door is also not too expensive, I think it cost us £5 for over 24hours, also the car park is locked at midnight, so you know your car is secure.
dodgy staff

We booked the hotel for a 21st birthday and the staff could see we were a large gang and we were prepared to share 4 to a room, a bargain at £51 a night! The reception staff checked us in were fine, and so were the staff we asked to get extra bedding. At 2am when we got back from a good night, the receptionist and two bouncers decided they wanted to cause trouble and refused us entry to the room because there were too many in each room. Money wasn't an issue and a credit card was offered to pay for an additional two rooms. They weren't interested they wanted a fuss and spoilt our night. Five of the group left the hotel to stay elsewere. One went to stay in the Dragon Hotel, the staff there said it was a problem they saw very often! Worst of all my sister who paid for the rooms and was celebrating her birthday was shut out in the rain for most of the arguing, and when she had a chance to run in and go to her room was dragged down the stairs by the bouncers, who showed no remorse for hurting her. We have tried contacting the society for bouncers but the bouncers number is not recognised. Should he really have been there? The hotel was in a great location for a night out in Swansea, a great city, but don't risk your safety by staying in the travel lodge.
Worst Hotel Ever
from djevans
We stayed there in late december'06 - and I've never seen anything like it. As hotleiers ourselves, we would never critise unless worthy. When we came back from a night out at 1am - there were 2 orange bouncers on the door and one drug'd up manager/night watchman looking after the place - and they were nothing but rude and abusive -so much so, the police had to be called. The police themselves told us that this isnt the first time they'd been called to that hotel because of the staff. I'm begging anybody (as a welshman -who wants to preserve welsh tourism) DO NOT STAY HERE.
I loved it!!!

Well, I'm sorry but I have to disagree, I thought the hotel was very nice. I came here with my mum and my two children and we absolutely loved it. It was only for one night but the staff were so friendly and very helpful. My youngest child is only a baby and the staff went out of their way to get me a travel cot (at no extra charge) for her to sleep in and then put it up for me too. As the kids were in bed, we couldn't go to the restaurant so my mum went to the restaurant and explained the situation and they brought our dinner to us in the room which was brilliant. Okay, the air con was a bit noisy but I've heard worse noise in the night and what do you expect, its not a hilton or malmaison!! Breakfast was very nice and once again, the staff were very nice, and asked me if I enjoyed the meal they brought up to us the night before. They were very helpful again and the waitress entertained my 3 year old son while I was finishing off my breakfast. I would definitely stay again, we had a family room, which was huge and very clean, and I have very high standards. My children were not woken by any noise so I was even more happy. Loved it.
Faulty Towers
from Windchimer
This sounds like a rant, which it is. I've stayed all over the world, including developing countries and never experienced this: Horrendous room which stank of smoke. Pubic hairs in the bath. Dirty loo.The window handle was broken, so it couldn't be opened, despite the fact it was in the middle of a heatwave. The room was unbearable to sleep in at night - the air con was crap and so noisy. I'd been travelling for 6hrs and very tired. Initially they told me to go away for an hour, because I'd arrived too early. The staff were unbelievably rude. I gave a big smile, but met with stony, miserable faces. I tried to check in, but they claimed no booking had been made, and the room hadn't been paid for. They eventually found the booking. The food was well... The 3rd night was the worst - no sleep - drunks upstairs banging doors, running around and having a party until the sun came up. I had to work the next day - not a happy bunny. If you paid me, I'd never stay there again.
A bad nights sleep
from DaveSpencer32
We are regulars in Premier Travel Lodge hotels which are usually located in industrial areas or out of town. Requiring a Saturday night in Swansea we consulted the latest brochure and found a new city centre hotel in Swansea which was booked well in advance, it offered on site parking. The first problem was that there had been a miss print and the parking was at the nearby NCP car park at extra cost, located via a difficult to locate route around the city. The staff were very helpful at check in as were the NCP car park staff especially as my wife is disabled. What wasn't obvious is that at night time particularly weekends the road is closed by rising bollards and the area outside becomes the pick up / drop off point for binge drinkers with crowds of several hundred drunks outside, some were staying at the hotel . THe glazing wasn't efficient and we moved rooms but the only one left was a smelly smokers room. The air con rattled and shook despite only being 14 weeks old. DRunks crashed around the corridor until 03.50 when one tried to kick our door in. Hotel security responded very promptly, the staff are this hotels main attraction , all very helpful but then they need to be in this location. Rooms fine, large, clean, staff spot on, location central , for weekday business people on a cool night fine perhaps but be warned of hot summer weekends! We dined at the Marriott and decided that it would have been worth the extra for a better nights sleep.

Despite the hotel being right in the heart of Swansea's busy nightlife, I was extremely surprised by the modern rooms, pleasantness and overall impression of the hotel. The rooms were extremely quiet and spacious, all allowing for one extra guest per room if required. ... more
