The week my 13 year old son and I went the weather was stunning and on arrival the location of the hotel was all that it was said to be, it did go a tad downhill from there though.
When you book accommodation nigh on last minute you don't expect Raffles, however I would expect that a hotel on a main drag that claims to have a 24 hour reception has the room keys located where any Tom, Dick, Harry or Mary on the make could just pick up and rob your room.
In the same way the safe deposit boxes were right by the main door, strange. However the rooms were functional for what they were designed for, namely sleeping.
The breakfast wasn't up to much but it filled a hole.
The bar and restaurant were very nice and although the service was not bad the staff had a habit of short changing and more than once were heard to express an opinion that the English expect too much just cause they are paying for it they don't realise that we don't get paid much, not nice to here and several people voted with their feet and spent their cash elsewhere.
The pool area was very nice with an adequate amount of sun beds, nice pool bar, shower and enough tables.
The bars and eateries were in very close proximity as well as supermarkets and places to book trips. I would urge anyone to walk down to Captain Georges cruises as they were fantastic to go on and the service was outstanding.
Roda is a small place and absolutely ideal for families as the nightlife was geared to them (which suited) rather than the singles market.
All in all I would certainly return to Corfu, would I visit Roda again, maybe? Would I use this hotel, not a chance.

This was our third visit to the Aphrodite spread over five years. I have read a couple of the bad reports above and can only say I disagree with all of them.
We have never had any bad experiences in the hotel other than the multi-directional showers, which have already been mentioned.
We also love Roda, its bars and eateries are excellent we particularly enjoy the Stafado at the Roda Park restaurant, which we sample at least twice per holiday
In conclusion we would recommend this hotel and location to anyone who wants a laid back holiday or have a family to consider. Go and enjoy.

I am planning to return to this Hotel in July this year having visited it in May 2005.
As with all holidays I thoroughly research various sites for views ideas and comments in case the place has changed.
This hotel is very dated as someone so nicely put it however, I believe that spending little on decor and more on cleanliness, keeping visitors happy and keeping costs down is paramount to a holiday.
I found the hotel staff to be very friendly, the pool was great.
Although when I was there the Jacuzzi never worked but it was an ongoing joke with the pool barman - we would ask about it every day and he would reply "tomorrow it will be fixed tomorrow - it made it quite fun - how often would you use it anyway? - the pool is ample in size to lie in and there also was a little area for the children which you could lie in if you didn't want to swim).
The room was basic again but you're on holiday how much time do you spend in your room? It was clean spacious and had beautiful views of the sea. You could easily sit on the balcony of an evening and soak in the sites and watch as the locals go about their business; it lets you see their way of life which is great.
The breakfast is very Greek (but hey you're in Greece!!) if you want a fry up go to your local greasy spoon - you're on holiday you should try different things otherwise what's the point in visiting a different culture?
I went with my then boyfriend who I have recently made honest (i.e. I finally gave in and married him) so this will be kind of a honeymoon for us and I can't think of a better place to return to than Aphrodite.
We only stayed for 7 nights last time - I am booking it for two weeks this time because we ran out of time to do everything.
If you are a young couple and want exciting night life this place is not for you, but if you want a relaxing holiday will plenty of good restaurants, sightseeing and a relaxed enjoyable atmosphere then this is for you.

Just arrived back. What a fantastic location, step over the road onto a really nice beach. We had a family room which was a good size and was cleaned every day.
Breakfast was basic but adequate and there was an option of paying extra for a cooked breakfast. We were at the back of the hotel which was a bit noisy on the evening with the traffic, as we had to leave the balcony door open to keep it cool. Wish there was a fridge in the room as this would of helped.
Pool was lovely and warm and the kids loved it. The food was good with a good selection of snacks. The resort itself is excellent with a few bars and restaurants, ideal for families. Overall a great holiday and would recommend it to friends.

My boyfriend and I have just got back from a weeks holiday in Roda, where we had a brilliant time. On arriving to the hotel (at early hours in the morning!) we were greeted by a friendly and polite man at the reception. He directed us to our room, where we found a basic but very clean and spacious room with a fantastic view, over looking the sea. I would recommend asking for a sea view as other rooms didn’t have very good views. The room has good apart from the shower in the bathroom, the shower head wasn’t very powerful and sprayed all over the bathroom floor. Apart from that there were no complaints.
The pool wasn’t as small as I had imagined. It was a decent size with a smaller pool for children and a Jacuzzi (which didn’t work!!) and had free sunbeds and umbrellas which were always available. We spend a few days round the pool which we really enjoyed as it had a nice atmosphere. It was also nice to have the choice of going to the beach as well as it was just over the road from the hotel, also with sunbeds and umbrellas. The beach was lovely apart from the sand. It was sand and shingle so the sand did look a bit dirty and it did have a few stones and pebbles in it.
The resort itself was brilliant. There was a wide selection of restaurants, bars and shops, so many that it was hard to choose where to go. The nightlife is quiet but there are huge choices of bars which have karaoke, quizzes, Greek dancing and other entertainment so you will never get bored. Restaurants served all types of food, Greek, English, Chinese, and Mexican etc. I recommend going to the Mexican restaurant (tax mex) which is round the back of the hotel. The food was out of this world and the staff were so friendly. Another one to try is the Chinese, this was also really friendly and the food was delicious.
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff when you were in a restaurant or bar and at the bars they waited on you and brought the drinks over to you. It was really nice and refreshing to go out for a drink or meal and be served with such genuinely friendly people.
There is certainly plenty to do in the resort of Roda but it is nice to go and explore the island of Corfu on day trips. We went on two trips. One being an island tour and another bbq cruise. Both of which were amazing. The Island tour took us all round the island to Corfu town, museums, churches and a beautiful beach where the sea was crystal clear and different shades of blue and green. Here we went on a 30 minute boat trip round these waters around by caves and rocks. The views in Corfu are really beautiful and were a highlight of the holiday. The trips were well organised and despite it raining a bit on the bbq cruise, they were really good.
There was one bad thing about our time in Roda, it rained most nights we were there. We had a few storms but they only happened on the night so it didn’t ruin our days
Overall I think this resort and hotel were really good value for money. We would definitely go back again and I would recommend it couples, friends or families who want a nice relaxing holiday where there is a large choice of things to do and see.

On arriving at the Aphrodite hotel in the early hrs of the morning ( 4am ) all I wanted to do was go to our room and crash, which we did and it was nice to see that there was a lift to take us to the upper floors as I have walking difficulties. On going to breakfast later on I was surprised to see that it was table service which I was very pleased with, breakfast was typical Greek but nice, if wanted an English fry up or cereal you could have that at extra cost, waiting staff were very friendly. Room was basic but clean looking out over the beach where we chilled for few hrs in evening before going out to town.
Now time to see the surroundings which on first sight I found very nice and clean, pool was inviting, off we went to explore more and what a nice surprise we had, beach just across the road from hotel and clean with sunbeds put out by Nikos and his granddad who we found very friendly to, they also kept the beach clean of seaweed which would come to waters edge over night.
Found plenty of shops, bars and restaurants further around the corner and down off the seafront can walk in a circle makes a nice stroll in the evenings while deciding where to eat or chill out in a bar joining in Greek dancing or karaoke.
All in all found Roda a peaceful relaxing place to be. We will be back.
Thank you all who made our holiday a real treat.

Just got back from Roda had a really nice relaxing and peaceful holiday. Hotel was great ideal for people who have disabilities almost flat all through and a lift to higher floors, it is very clean, maids in every day linen and towels changed when necessary, only concern ( not complaint) was that one of the plugs kept coming away from wall when I put in the mozzy repellant plug. I reported it and it got seen to but still it came away, sure they will get it repaired properly ASAP. Staff were friendly and helpful. Restaurant, snack bar very nice looking out over the sea food good.
Beach nice and safe for children bit of seaweed and stones on waters edge but was cleaned each day by the guys who put out the sun beds who also were very friendly.
Plenty of bars, restaurants and shops near by, nice just to stroll around and decide where to eat as the fancy goes. There are Greek nights, karaoke nights , fun pubs so plenty to choose from.
There is horse and trap rides get a choice as to where you go, driver very much a gentleman will tell you about different things on your route if you ask. Plenty of excursions to go on if you wish, we booked with our travel rep went to Corfu town and to a BBQ on the beach which was great fun.
Well I could go on and on, so it’s a good place to go. I will be going back.

We have stayed at the Afrodite 3 years in a row and hope to go again this year.
The staff are always pleased to help. We have no complaints about the rooms, our rooms have always been clean and tidy and maid service every day. The food is lovely, lots of choice. I am shocked to read the comments above, no way is this place a dump.
You are located a stones throw from the beach. There are plenty of facilities and shops nearby. I rate this hotel 10/10. Haroula, Spero, Nikos and staff are great!

The Aphrodite hotel is a well run family hotel in a great location. Although the rooms are maybe more traditional they were clean and more than adequate for our stay.
We had a lovely view that looked out over the beach. It was great having the option to sunbath by the pool or go just across the road to the beach. The bar at the pool served tasty snacks to keep you going through the day.
The restaurant next to the hotel was great we ate there a few times and the service was spot on.
The hotel is located in a very central spot in Roda, and it is quite busy and noisy at night, especially if your room is at the front of the hotel as ours was. If you are traveling with children you might want to take this into consideration. However, that said it is my opinion that the Aphrodite hotel is situated in one of the best locations in Roda (near bars and restaurants and right on the beach).
I'd go back again in a shot!

After reading the comments here I was shocked by what people thought of the hotel. I stayed at the Afrodite for a week in July 2004 and had a brilliant time, our room was basic but very clean, the breakfast was more than adequate and the pool was clean and comfortable to lounge around (which we did on several days).
We had no problems with unfriendly staff or noise (apart from the night of the world cup which Greece won!). The hotel is in an ideal location directly opposite the beach and there are restaurants and bars just a stones throw away. Don't be put off by the other comments for this hotel and reserve judgement till you have seen for yourself!!

When we first arrived at the hotel my first reaction was that it was really dated, like something out of the 80s but we thought we would reserve judgement until we saw our rooms. Our room was disgusting! It was dark and smelt really quite musty, there was one plug in the room, which was in the bathroom!! There was a lot of dust near the ceiling, basically it was dirty. We just didn’t want to stay there. So we went out to the man on reception and asked to be moved to a different room, they said no!
A few days into the holiday we kicked up a fuss and eventually got moved. I am please to say that there are rooms that are really nice. It was just unfortunate that we had to waste 3 days of our holiday in a horrible room.
Never mind, it was a cheap holiday and it just goes to show that you only get what you pay for. I will not be returning to that dump!

Just come back from a most wonderful week at this resort. The hotel rooms were basic but very clean and nothing too much trouble for the staff. We had a sea view with balcony which just made things perfect. The resort itself is full of tavernas and we were particularly impressed with Nicos restaurant, had a great Greek meal there.
We were made to feel very welcome wherever we went and meals were very reasonably priced. We had a couple of days where the weather was a bit cooler and on those days we took advantage of the local transport into Sidari one day and on another we hired a beach buggy and toured the north part of the island. We are both in our late 50s and had a whale of a time making both young and old friends whilst there. Can't wait to go back next year.
