We have just returned home from the Achtis Hotel and have immediatly booked again for next year, the hotel, staff and the village of Afitos made this the best holiday we have had in Greece.
The view of the back of the hotel from the road is not inspiring but then you enter an oasis and meet the most wonderful staff,Magda,Elisabeth and Christina.
The hotel,in two blocks overlook the pool and gardens (which are kept immaculate)
with sunbeds and sofas, shaded areas with sofas and chairs, all which are above the normal standard in quality and comfort, this is relected throughout the hotel with rooms all tasteful and clean with above average facilities.
With only 35 rooms the Achtis is a very intimate and comforting place to enjoy your holiday.
Breakfast is in the poolside bar and you are are met by the wonderful Elisabeth who brightened even the rainy mornings which met us on a few occassions(well more than a few !)evenings in the bar are made superb with the wickedly funny Christina, and a weekly BBQ and quiz draw a good turnout.
Afitos village is a real gem with some good eating places ranging from restaurants to tavernas (try The Korner)and a range of shops and 2 minimarkets.
The village centre is traffic free in the evening (well almost) and is a joy to stroll around.
Access to the beach is all downhill but the return journey can be a bit tiring !
One drawback at the hotel are the bar prices but you can't have everything !

What a gem of a hotel!! We arrived late evening and we were greeted like long lost friends by Magda, Christina and Elisabeth, despite this being our first visit. We had a junior suite which was fantastic, with super large bed and whirlpool corner bath, well worth the small extra expense. The only downside was after 5 days of beautiful weather we had a whole day of rain and the temperature plummeted to 12c which was a problem with the bar/restaurant, where all meals are served, being exposed to the climate with no alternative room available, made it a little uncomfortable. Maybe a heater would have helped on rare days such as this? We would certainly go again as the village of Afitos is so unspoilt and Magda and her hard working team at the Achtis made our stay so memorable.

Fantastic hotel, as mentioned before, the owners and staff are very friendly who will find time to help you with anything. The hotel is well placed for the village and beach, but the prices at the bar are more expensive than eating and drinking in the town and match the prices of the restaurants that overlook the ocean from the clifftop. Also should now mention that Greece with the euro no longer has cheap prices and match prices in England.
Visiting Afitos - here the locals are also friendly and most of which speak English, and the village is old with a lovely classical rustic Greek style to it. With many restaurants all from my experience serving good food, and although I rarely eat salad at home, I had every night and enjoyed the Greek salads which was always served in huge portions. The village has a couple of chilled out bars and a pub, has a safe feel to it even late at night and the only dangers are the kids wizzing about on moped's and drivers who go to fast along the narrow lanes.
The beach is a downhill walk to a long sand and shingle beach with a crystal clear, mottled light and mid blue ocean with a few bars and restaurants dotted along it, at the time we visited there were no sports or activities operating for those who like a bit of action.
If you are in your late twenties and upwards and want a relaxing sunny holiday you should enjoy it here, teenagers and early twenties may want more fun and nightlife may find it a bit boring.

We were so happy with our holiday at the Achtis.
Attractive surroundings, superb rooms/facilities, owners and staff so friendly and helpful, standards of cleanliness and service excellent and constantly attended to.
Start the day with a wide choice buffet breakfast by the pool, then relax in the hotel's tropical style pool surroundings, before exploring the tradionally kept seaside village of Afitos with its paved lanes, tavernas and little shops - such a pleasant change from those concrete apartment jungles. A couple of 'supermarkets' sell fresh bread and all the makings of a balcony lunch back at base, seven days a week, while the hotel can provide a choice of more UK-ish snacks all day.
For venturing out in the evening, we found the typically priced Gastronomia taverna in the lane to the sea promenade served the tastiest usual Greek dishes and the house wine not so bad either. The village is parked on the cliff top (as most on Kassandra peninsular) so if you don't fancy the stairs down to the beach (good exercise) take a taxi for just a couple of Euros.
This is definitely one place to relax and enjoy.

Totally agree 100% with the previous review, the hotel, staff, facilities, and location are all first class. Nothing is too much trouble (our cases were left at Gatwick so Magda & Achilles (the owners) provided us with clothes whilst they arrived) and I would thoroughly recommend this Hotel to achieve ultimate holiday satisfaction.

This is a gem of a hotel. Magda and Achiles the owners are 2 of the most beautiful people you could ever meet.
All the staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is one of the most cleanest places I have ever stayed in, it could not be faulted for anything.
The two weeks we stayed there for were the best. It is set in the most beautiful gardens you’ll see, the swimming pool is great for kids and adults there is also a children’s play area with bouncy castles and football field, great all round family holiday or for couples.

Here we are again in Halkidiki at the Achtis Hotel in Afitos 5th year in a row, sat at the side of the large pool after a hour in the hotel gym and a very nice breakfast of English/Continental. This hotel in our eyes just gets better each year with the friendly and welcoming atmosphere from all the staff. This is like our second home now. Our room is a family room consisting of 2 separate rooms and bathroom we have 2 balconies from which we have an excellent view across Afitos and the sea. Fixtures and fittings of the whole hotel are of the highest standard with plenty of storage and each room comes with air conditioning, T.V and safety deposit box as standard.. There is a poolside bar open from 7.00am to midnight serving food and drinks and there are weekly BBQ and Greek nights in the bar (not to be missed). The owners Achilles and Magda are helping my daughter with her Greek studies at the side of the pool. Afitos is a small village with a big heart. The locals are so very friendly and are always happy. In August there is the Afitos festival every night in the village square there is traditional Greek folk music and dancing. There are no night clubs (Great) but there are several small bars in the village. If you want night clubs they are 2 km down the road in a taxi. We will be back next year. If you want a fantastic holiday go to the Achtis you may even bump in to us
