Good quality and friendly.
from Eamo27
My family (wife and two young kids) spent eight days at the hotel. We found it to be nice, quiet and the staff were friendly. The pool was small but adequate. It was right on the beach and the sea was warm and deep enough to swim in. Our room was a three bedroom deluxe it was big enough, but the bathroom could do with a face lift. The beds were hard but personally I like them that way. We ate at the restaurant on one night which was very nice, but more expensive than the numerous good restaurants in town. I had two kids with me and there were a couple of disapproving looks around the pool as they were jumping in etc from some of the guests (they were not allowed run wild but I let them have fun as they were on holiday too). The staff were very good and affectionate with our kids. They seemed keen to spend time with our children even when I worried that my kids were making a nuisance of themselves they assured me that the kids were fine. My young ones loved the place and it was easy to bring them to a different restaurant every night as we were always made welcome.
Overall a good hotel
from masg
We stayed here for 5 nights early September in one of the separate villas (Villa B) which faced the pool directly. The room was fairly big and was well kept, my only criticism would be the amount of light in the bathroom which was fairly dull especially at night. The choice of food at breakfast was fairly limited but consistent with other hotels of this size, the quality of food was always good. The prices of drinks at the hotel were also reasonable. Whilst we were there the hotel contained mainly couples with 1 or 2 families so it was fairly peaceful. I think the hotel must be well advertised in Germany as I would say more than half the guests had come from Germany, but there were plenty of pool loungers left after the towels had gone down at 6am. Overall I’d rate the hotel as good but I found the Lamai area a bit too busy and developed.
A good hotel on Lamai Beach
from yahooligan
We stayed at the Thai House Beach Resort in Lamai for the first 5 nights of our stay on Koh Samui. We took two Beach Front Villa rooms Villa C & Villa E. Well worth going for one of the Beach Front Villa rooms - I think there are 6 in total A-F. Of these D & E are the best positioned looking right over the pool - pleasant sitting on the veranda with a G&T in the evening. Villa A looks over the massage hut towards the beach and the others have restricted views. The rooms are fine - adequately furnished with comfortable big hard double beds and are cleaned daily. The swimming pool is quite small but perfectly adequate. We tended to take sun beds on the beach and, yes, the custom of reserving your bed before 0830 hrs is alive and well - you can't beat them so just join them! The towels are too small for the sunbeds so go to a shop up the road and buy a couple of new ones for peanuts! Minimarkets & 7/11s, ATMs, laundry (35 Baht/52p/US$1 a kilo!) etc all plentiful. The staff are all very friendly if a bit disorganized when it comes to sourcing a drink on the beach! There is a good minimarket at the top of the lane where it's quicker & cheaper to get a cold beer! Breakfast buffet was OK - not a touch on the Shangri La or Bo Phut Resort but, for the money, no complaints. One niggle... If you have a siesta on the beach and waken up after 4pm, don't be surprised when you open your eyes and find it's been turned into a restaurant - the beach boys hover, almost willing you to move so they can set up the tables for the evening! We ate on the hotel beach a couple of times but wouldn't recommend - better to walk a few hundred yards to either the right (pink flags outside); to the left (New Hut quite a long walk - very basic/very cheap!) or again left along the beach to The Pavilion Resort (c.50 yards) very stylish/bit expensive, fabulous Thai Dancing Show one night. For lunch there are lots of hawkers selling corn/pineapple/mango/thai salad/chicken sate etc (stupidly cheap!). Swimming - the sea is clear and the sand soft. There are jet skis to rent but thankfully these stay far enough off shore not to be a nuisance. Wireless Internet works in Pool Villa (not free though!). All in all a perfectly good hotel - not 5 star; but no qualms giving it 4/5
Wouldn't go again, better value for the same or less elsewhere.

Have recently arrived home after a stay at the Thai House Beach Resort. Overall we found our experience there okay, but would probably not go there again as there was a few problems and having been there, it seemed you could get better value for money at other resorts. When we arrived we discovered that the minibar had several items missing and we didn't want to risk being charged for these. We booked a twin Deluxe Garden View room, which according to the website and a flyer on the table in the room included tea and coffee making facilities, bathrobes and slippers. None of these were in the room however and when we queried it we were told that deluxe rooms no longer have these amenities. After enquiring if there was anywhere we could make or get tea, they did in fact bring a jug and cups to the room. We went out on our balcony to discover that our garden view was of the next door construction site 5 metres away where we had a view of about 20 men working tirelessly all day. We didn't think this was acceptable for our extended stay and asked to be changed rooms. There was only a double room available but we asked if we could have a bed put in the room. We had this confused through language difficulties and they in fact wanted 800 Baht per night to have a fold out bed in the room. We wouldn't accept this and it was queried with the manager who said we could have this free of charge. Having got off to a rocky start however, the rest of our stay was enjoyable but not exemplary. Breakfast was good with a decent variety of cereals, fruit, European food and Thai food. The sun loungers, as in many resorts, are all taken early by people leaving towels on them (even if not intending to use them for awhile) and it would be nice to see the resort manage this maybe by having a policy that if you aren't around and haven't used your lounger for 1/2 an hour they'll remove the towel so someone else may use it, as we've seen in some other resorts. Part way through our stay we discovered there were three cans of drink missing from the minibar one day. We were charged for these, but were weary of bringing it up. The minibar was only restocked one time in our stay and beware, although their minibar list doesn't say it, there will be the standard ++ (+10%, +7% tax) on these prices. Everything was clean and tidy . The shower worked very well, with good pressure and hot water. We found the bed to be hard, but then that's not just restricted to this resort, and the fold out bed had the usual sunken mattress problem as fold out beds do. It seems like a pleasant stay for families with children. For others, maybe the Jasmine next door which has less rooms and similar price would be a better option. The beach was nice and tidy and the water was lovely to swim in. If wanting to go for spa treatments I'd thoroughly recommend the Centara Villas south of Lamai. The people there are warm and welcoming, the treatments reasonably priced in a beautifully presented setting. Good places to eat were Sala Thai on the main road of Lamai, they have reasonable prices and a traditional Thai dancing show on Tuesdays. There was a place (name unknown) further up the road that was hidden at the back of a big and glittering shop filled with all sorts of trinkets that was well priced and probably the best food we had the entire time. When booking accommodation in Samui I'd advise booking one or two nights so that you can move to another place if you're not happy where you are. Otherwise you can get stuck in the situation where you're somewhere you're not happy with but it's non-refundable.
Great spot at Lamai Beach
from Wendy_Martin
Stayed 7 nights at the Thai House and loved it. A great spot - a good beach and shopping outside the door. The pool was very nice too - not huge but big enough with attractive gardens surrounding it. There were usually sun loungers available around the pool - but of course there were always people who reserved sun loungers when not using them. While there were jet skis near the resort they didn't seem to be hired very often and weren't an annoyance. The water was not exactly crystal clear but it was pretty good and lovely and warm. We liked Lamai Beach - visited Chaweng and were very pleased we had chosen to stay at Lamai which is more laid back than Chaweng. Plenty of choice for restaurants and bars at Lamai - we usually ate at places on the beach rather than in town. Particularly liked the restaurant at Utopia and further down the beach at Rich Resort. Had our last meal at the Patio restaurant at the Pavilion - gorgeous lighting and very romantic if that is what you are wanting. Also ate at the hotel restaurant which was quite good - seating is particularly good. Cocktails are good value at Happy Hour - two for the price of one - recommend the Kamikazes. We had a basic twin room which was excellent - a good size, nice bathroom, lovely balcony - very pleased with it. Although my daughter found the bed a bit too firm for her. There was a little bit of construction going on next door at Magic Resort but it wasn't very loud and they didn't seem to start too early in the morning and also tended to finish early. Didn't bother us. Staff all very nice - friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were good with plenty of choice - although my daughter would have liked some maple syrup to go with her pancakes. All in all a great resort which we would stay at again.
You will not be disappointed!

I booked the hotel stay online and had no problem. I had initially wanted two bungalows with an ocean view, but that was hard to tell which bungalows were ocean front and which weren't. I had expressed this to the reservations person via email and they confirmed my reservation (charged full amount to credit card)...saying that they were able to get what I wanted. I quickly pointed out that the two bungalows confirmed were not the ocean view ones that I had wanted (finally read the tripadivor reviews and discovered which were the best bungalows to get). They acknowledged the mishap and offered me a free shuttle trip from the airport...and boy in that heat it was much appreciated. The shuttle service was very prompt picking us up from the airport. It was a short drive to the hotel maybe about 20mins. My Wife was quite impressed when we pulled up to the hotel and were greeted by the staff bowing politely in their beautiful Thai silk uniforms welcoming us to their treasure on the beach. Not one, but two receptionists helped us with the check in and offered us a fruity, COLD drink which couldn't have come at a more convenient time. The bell person helped us to our room and again very politely showed us how to work the safe and the AC. Oh...and don't forget to take your shoes off when you get into the rooms! Our bungalow was Villa A and our other party was in Villa D, both HIGHLY recommended. Villa A is the closest to the beach with an awesome view and also conveniently located directed behind the massage tent. Villa D is next to the pool and has the only unobstructed view of the ocean. One thing that they do not mention is that VIlla A has the only outdoor shower. Purely fantastic! I would share them, but my Wife snapped all of the photos with me half naked in the shower. The shower was a vacation in itself. I had heard people complain about the food at the restaurant there and the beach, but both were fine by me. I would, however, avoid eating dinners at the restaurant. We were alarmed at how expensive it was. Just next door to the right there is an inexpensive and very good restaurant that we ate at quite often. Breakfast at the hotel's restaurant was fine. The menu didn't change much (Buffet), but there was a big enough selection. I would have to say it was nice being the only American at the place. Got to visit with many Germans, Aussies and Brits. I would say the hotel was half full and that made it nice while relaxing by the pool, the hotel beach and no waiting for a massage (approx $9/hr). For about 2000 Baht the hotel shuttle took us all around the island one day. I would highly recommend this other than the scooters I saw so many renting. The driver didn't speak English too well, but we managed. Oh the weather... . I cannot complain about it. The first 3 days of our trip was great. Barely a cloud in the sky and hot. Perfect weather to sit by the pool and have a Singh beer...or two.... The 5 days after were overcast with occasional showers. The showers were fine though and gave us a nice break from the heat. Helpful hints: careful walking on the beach. some places you will find lots of trash (bottles, cans etc spread about). If you get sick don't worry there is a hospital there and a pharmacy on almost every corner. Have your fill of Thai Iced Teas at 7-11...yes 7-11. They were the only places we found them! Lamai has great restaurants...try to eat at a different one every chance you get. One last thing. My Wife and I fell in love with those little Thai children statues with the hads together "doing the sawadee" If you find a place that sells them with a web address please post it...we really want to get one!
Great resort on Lamai Beach, Ko Samui
from joy2go
We just returned from our 8 day stay at the Thai House Beach Resort on Lamai Beach and we really loved it. We will definitely be returning there to stay when we go back to Thailand. While we were there, we were informed that return guests receive a discount if you book straight through their website and mention that you have stayed before. We stayed in Villa B for the first 4 days and then switched to Villa G for the next 4 days. (Villa B is considered a Beach View Villa and wasn't available for all 8 days of our stay, so during booking, I chose to stay in that one for 4 days, then switch to a 'garden view' villa). Villa B had a beautiful view of the pool and slight view of the beach from the front porch which was right across from the pool. The room was comfortable and clean. Our bathroom was also clean and roomy, however, their was a slight drainage problem (that was fixed as soon as we called the hotel's attention to it) which caused the room to have a slight 'gym' odor. We just bought some incense and it didn't bother us much since we we hardly in the room anyway. The air conditioning was very comfortable. My only negative comments would be that there was limited space to put away clothing and no hooks anywhere in the bathroom to hang anything. And those are minor issues, really. Villa G was slightly smaller in size and the porch had a little garden off of it and faced the side of another Villa (whereas Villa B had more of an open feeling and a view of the pool). There was no problem with drainage and no smell. My husband liked this room much better and thought it was a nicer room, in general, if you aren't concerned with a view from your porch. The pool is beautiful, clean, and refreshing. There is a clean bathroom right off the pool area as well as an outdoor shower to rinse off in. There are cushioned lounge chairs and umbrellas around the pool but be warned, they get taken up VERY early in the morning (same with the loungers at the beachfront). My husband woke up at 6am every morning to reserve our loungers and he would already see other loungers reserved. There is a massage area right on the beach off the pool area. My husband got a foot massage there and loved it. A one hour foot massage was 250B and a one hour Thai massage is 200B. We also got similar prices right next door and they were also great. The beach front is great too. I had read on this website that the beach and water was dirty. It was only trashy on the first day we were there and after that, there wasn't any trash. Not sure why that was...come to think of it, that day the water was the most rough, so maybe that has something to do with it. There are tons of vendors (jewelry, corn and fruit, foot scrubbers, etc) walking by constantly and I would say that is the only downside to the beachfront. Unless you are a big shopper, it seems like more of an annoyance. We ate breakfast every morning in the restaurant (which is pool and beachfront, airy and open) and it was good; especially the woman who makes 'made to order' eggs. There was always fresh fruit, thai dishes, choices of breads, meat, cheese, cereal, yogurt and juices. Aside from breakfast, we didn't really stick around the hotel for other meals. But, the bartender mixes great drinks...we did drink a few of those during their happy hour 2 for 1 specials! Checking in and out was easy and the bill was accurate. The front desk staff is very helpful. They booked a kayak trip (I'm going to include all the activity and restaurant information in a Trip Report in the next few days) for us one day for the following day and they were able to just charge it to our room, which was very convenient. Our room was cleaned every day and fresh towels were provided along with a few toiletry items. Not sure if other hotels in the area do this, but in the room, they provide a beach basket with two beach towels. That beach basket came in handy, we used it every day (and from what we saw, other guests did too) and it was a really nice touch provided by the hotel.
A Great Stay In Ko Samui (Lamai Beach)
from Mynet
My wife and I stayed in a Villa during our 8 visit in Feb. 2007. We had a great time and just love this resort. One of the first impressions you get is how warm and friendly the staff are, you truly feel like you are staying with friends. The resort itself has lots of Thai charm that just makes you feel completely at home. Everything in the resort is very clean and very well maintained. The resort has lots of staff and they all clearly work very hard to make each guests stay perfect. The included buffet breakfast is excellent! The quality of the rooms and location of the resort are also excellent! This is one of the best managed hotels I have ever stayed at! Donna & Michael
beautiful place
from RossF
We had four lovely nights in Villa G in early january. We were blown away by the whole restaurant, pool, beach setting- a classic tropical paradise feel to it. All the staff were particularly lovely. We had a 5 year old with us and although there is nothing specifically set up for kids the Thai love of children made for a very happy experience for us and him. Like the previous review we found breakfast perfectly enjoyable (although they might want to source some different croissant). We ended up having most meals in house because we weren't there for long and the convenience plus the beautiful dining situation, lovely service, reasonable value, combined with mostly excellent cooking made venturing out into the chaotic main drag with child in toe less appealing. I enjoyed the very firm bed more than my wife. The decor and amenity in the room was top drawer. I would recomend going for a villa although the rooms in the main building looked very well set up it would have lost something to not be so close to the pool and the sound of the sea. Highly reccomended for pure relaxation.
Great spot to relax
from RobandCherie
We stayed in the Thai House Beach Resort in the first week of Sept and found it to be great for relaxing after 11 weeks in Europe. Our room was large, clean and serviced each day. The resort has a lovely restaraunt area overlooking the pool and the beach. The food at breakfast is fine and they have dinner each night on the sand--some night meals could be improved and we did eat some nights in the main street of Lamai at the Sala Thai which was excellent and cheap. One downside is that the resort is about a 20 min ride from Chaweng but taxis are cheap if you bater. Overall, a lovely spot, friendly helpful staff with a delightful pool and beach area.

A well organised hotel in good location in the centre of Lamai. Ideal for shopping and choice of eating places. Wonderful attentive staff where nothing is too much trouble. Spotless rooms, well equipped and very comfortable. A hotel that can be recommended. The beach is... more
