I think the villa del mar is wonderful.... I was sooo dissapointed it had been closed for refurbisment in oct 2007 and not yet opened in 2008.. we had to go to another hotel in May 2008 and it is not expected to be opened again for the forseable future.
Peter... if you are reading this..... we missed you this year. Come on Amigos... get your finger out... there are a lot of us people here missing out on the best hotel in Benidorm. Do you really want us to go to the Flamingo Oasis again.... I hope not ! Do you need some contractors from England to come over and show you how it is done ?
Nothing here at this hotel for children but it is great for us mums and dads and nans and grandads..... food superb..... staff brilliant...... wonderful place for a brilliant break away from those horrible kids of ours !!!!!!!!!!.......... come on...... sort yourselves out !

We stayed here this September and found the hotel to be just as good as last year.
The staff were all friendly (apart from the 2 Moroccan bar men) and the place was spotlessly clean and the rooms were comfortable and spacious. It was getting a bit tired looking - but as it is closing for 6 months refurbishment that didn't bother us. The food was good and plenty of choice - loads of veggies and fruit!!
It is right across from the beach so we got a great view as we always book a room with a sea view. The sun terrace on the roof was ideal for soaking up some sun - there was usually a breeze which kept us cool.
It is part of the Magic group so you can use the facilities of any of the chain in Benidorm - so we always went to the Felicia at night as we have a big crowd of Spanish friends who go there each September. The hotel is mainly Spanish occupied - but we have always found the Spanish very friendly if you at least TRY to speak some Spanish to them.
We were hoping to go back again in February but as it will still be closed we have had to book elsewhere - but as soon as we can we will be booking for NEXT September!! I would definitely recommend this as a nice peaceful hotel - we never heard any noise from inside the hotel at night or when we had a siesta - the only noise was from the road but, if you are high up then it doesn't bother you. The room also had one of the best air conditioning units we have had on holiday, so I hope they don't throw them out when they refit the rooms!!

We have stayed in this hotel for 4 years in a row and the only reason we won't be staying next Jan is because it is closed.
We found the staff really helpful and very nice. Also they tend to remember their regular customers so we always get a great welcome.
This hotel of the Magic Group is the best to stay in because of it's location to the old town which has the most character in Benidorm.
Food is very good. Always got upgraded to a seaview room when we arrived.
The magic group is good to stay in as you can use any of the hotels for food or drink.

Worst 2 days we ever spent, this hotel is a definite no no. I only give it one because you can’t get Zero.
We only spent two days as we got a move to another hotel.
Our holiday at this hotel was spoiled due to the cheeky arrogant staff and the size of the pool for a hotel this size, I have seen bigger Jacuzzis and its on the first floor out the back.
The poolside bar, I've got a bigger shed in my garden and its open more often.
The repetitive meals of choice there was none, the waterlogged sofa bed due to a leaking air conditioning, the non existing entertainment, need I go on.
No kids club, no welcome meeting, no balcony. This had been extended on to the room which was still small, no room service had been done when we arrived at 3.00pm, no drinks after eleven.
And no partridge in a pear tree!

The Villa Del Mar is one of the best Amigo Hotels even if it is the smallest. The staffs are brilliant, the food was great (except Christmas Dinner), but u can’t have it all. The Hotel was spotless and everyone made you feel so welcome except Alex. He was one of the reception staff, but the other two were great. They made up for it. The Villa Del Mar Hotel is in a great position just over the road from the beach and surrounded by shops and bars. I will be going back. Well done Villa Del Mar, you have everything. Shame you have sad puss Alex!

Having been to the amigos group hotels before in Benidorm, I didn’t hesitate in booking to go to the villa Del mar, unfortunately, we did not rate this hotel as good as its sister hotel The Tropicana - The food was excellent and that is about all we enjoyed about this hotel.
The pool is very small, almost constantly in the shade, very few sun beds and poor pool side bar. Our room faced over the pool - not a very nice view when you’re at that side of the hotel , but I guess being at the front would have nice views of the sea. Our room was just passable for size, but very noisy as it was nearest the lift and we could hear everything from our next door holiday makers.
The staff were not friendly at all, yet to see the people behind the reception smile once! The entertainment was terrible, the resident Spanish duo act sang in terrible English - we nicked named the woman ‘Dolly Poodle’ - she was bad!
The roof top was where we spent most of the time sunbathing, not many people knew it was there, the bar up there was shut, until we mentioned it to staff and they then had it manned a few hours a day - after all , we still wanted our all inclusive drinks! It had a kid’s splash pool up there too but it was never filled with water. This hotel was more Spanish orientated and I would certainly not recommend it to anyone - go to the Tropicana, more to offer in everyway!

stayed 1 wk 23/30 nov.excellent hotel but no lounge and very cold and drafty.2 bar tables in bar area,1 sette 2 chairs in reception, thats it,had coats on all night unless you went downstairs to entertainment bar opens at 9.30.when you have been out all day you just want to relax in comfort,we had to go round corner to corona del mar for warmth and comfort otherwise sit outside at villa del mar or go to bed, only bbc world news no other english channel not good for new 4 star, will be different in summer people want to sit outside but not in winter.other people said they were glad to be going
