Wouldn't go back there in a hurry
from staceybet
Very welcoming at reception - on arrival at room - very disappointing - smelled awful and dirty, towels - take your own - even when changed still smelt, however there was a clean kettle and toaster provided. The fridge on the other hand - rusty, smelt and kept opening by itself. Bathroom ok, shower fine. We hired a fan for our apprt as it was so stuffy and hot even though weather was not very good all week. Bedroom - appeared to be comfortable to ants who were less choosy than us. We put the portable bed from the living room into the bedroom with us for our two children as it felt safer to do so - however on our second day there at 6.30am I awoke to find a stranger coming out of our bedroom having helped himself to a few of our items. Gave chase but gave up. The person had gained entry by using a screwdriver to prise the door open. We were in appartment 170 - our door which was one of few that did not make any sound when you opened or closed it - my sister who was next door couldn't open her door without anybody else hearing it. When speaking to a few people by the pool, it appeared this was a common problem. Hotel offered us to change rooms but thought it again safer to stay where we were as there was nothing left to steal anyway. The rep from sunset - Jodi did as much as should could for us. Luckily for us one of our party spoke good spanish as otherwise you would need an enterpretuer at the police station which costs 50euros. Apparently this has happened before at these appartments but holiday company are not allowed to tell you this - everyone going to these appts should be made awhere of this and put the coffee table against the door each night. Sister next door had hired a safety deposit box - luckily passports and majoirty of our money was in there. Our door was definately locked but they still managed to get in - strange!! Pool bar OK food good - entertainment advertised not provided as kept getting let down - but resort had enough of its own anyway. Pool table awful as loopsided - Swimming pool clean but surrounding area quite dirty and definately not cleaned daily as rubbish still there a couple of days later. Would go back to resort but not appartments - no security whatsoever - lots of ways in and out of villa florida this was our downfall and someone elses gain .

My husband and I have just returned from a week in the villa florida apts. We found the accomodation very satisfactory, although pillows not up to much! It was very clean, no major bug problems except tiny ants on the bench though not in great numbers. Reception staff helpful, passports returned to us within an hour of arrival. The Red Lion pool bar is exceptionally friendly and do one of the best breakfasts in Caleta. Owner Ali and her staff, Suzanne and Michelle are lovely! Very helpful and easy going. There is entertainment on most nights, we found the best to be Karaoke and vocalist Katie (who is wasted, def has the x-factor!!!) While there we would recommend visiting La Bodeguita italian restaurant, great value and great food. Also the Slow Boat Chinese Restaurant right outside the Red Lion. Overall we had a great stay and would definately return! p.s take your own towels as theirs are quite threadbare and a little smelly! Cairen and Peter Taylor Newcastle upon Tyne

Our holiday was great.. i am 14, i went with my dad and my sister!.. there wasnt alot of things to do in & around the apartments but we dint expect anything because it wasn't a hotel!.. but there were a few singers in the evening!.. The pool was good for during the day!.. sunbeds came in usefull all day, but like with every holiday location you have to put your towel out early or you have to sunbathe on the floor haha!.. the apartment's towels did smell but we had our own so we used them often!.. great holiday though and i very friendly people!.. i would defiantley advise to go!.. and if you do visit.. mambo steak house/o'donohues irish bar which is situated to the left of the apartments reception!.. its a great bar with great staff!..

after ariving back today i feel i have to let people no what there about to experiance, the appartment was falling to pieces, the fridge was rusty as was the plate rack, it smelt musty and damp the security of your room is inadequate plug sockets were hanging out the wall (2) a light fitting had exposed wires a plug socket was smashed and burned out,the bedding was stained the towels provided were shabby and smelled, our bedding weren't changed for 10 days and that only happened when i placed it in the middle of the appartment floor our bins were only emptied on occasion, the water heater kept you awake at night and leaked there was also a very strong sewerage smell when you flushed the toilet or turned the water tap on and the bed they expected you to sleep on if there is more than 2 of you was like a park bench the plus side is the location was central to the ammenaties the restaurant next door la fuente was excellent even though the prices were slightly higher than most the service and food were superb, the red lion pool bar on the complex deserve a mention for there friendly atmosphere ,helpful staff and there meals were very good and value for money
Poor holiday

This hotel is disgusting, it was recommended by a travel agent who obviously ripped us off. The place was falling apart, appt was dirty on arriving, cupboard door literally hanging off, bathroom not clean, plaster falling off walls, towels smelled and were ripped (maybe 5+ years old). Room was cleaned 3 times during our stay not each day. Would never go back or recommend it to anyone. Awful place.
We couldn't have wished for a better room location!

We arrived at Villa Florida about 8:30pm, and were greeted at reception by a very pleasant man who was very helpful and efficient. We handed in our passports, rented a safe, " as recommended ", and we were handed our room key and also a print-out of the complex with the route to our room highlighted in flourescent marker pen, excellent!! the last thing you need after a long day is doing laps around the complex searching for your room dragging heavy cases and 2 tired kids with you. We passed the "Red Lion ", a very welcoming, friendly bar on the complex ( they do a great breakfast! ) where there was a singer entertaining quite a few families. We found our room straight away, "A room 20 yards from the pool" we,ve always requested pool view but never had it before. The room was very warm upon entering, fans can be hired from reception but clean & spot-less. We checked the cupbards, It was equipped with the usual pots & pans, serving spoons, a chopping board and 4 of everything, such as plates, dishes etc, a fridge with freezer compartment, a two ring hob, kettle & toaster, everything we were going to need during our stay. There was even sachets of coffee, tea-bags, sugar and a large bottle of water waiting for us. We decided to get unpacked when there was a tap on the door, Reception had noticed on our passports that it happened to be my Wife's birthday, and had kindly sent over a bottle of wine for her! Next morning after a very hot sweaty night, we decide to explore . The Villa Florida is very clean and the pools are cleaned every morning. There were no Germans at all while we were there but the Brits now seem to put their towels on the sun loungers first thing in the morning and not return to them until about 4pm in the afternoon. after 3 days of us sharing one lounger I decided on the days we were going to be at the pool all day I would beat them to it. The Apartments are in a great location and has handy shops & restaurants on the door step. I thought at first that the little shop on the front of the Apartments was expensive , but after visiting the various netto's that were scattered around, quite a few items were the same price or cheaper. The beach and harbour were about 10 - 15 mins walk away. There is a nice cool, windy walkway along the sea front, where wild but tame chipmonks come out and will eat nuts from your hand The beach is man - made but very nice with a good breeze. The sea was nice and not too deep for the children to play in. The sea area nearest to the harbour side is the best as it isn't rocky under foot. At the harbour you can go whale watching, 40 euro per adult for two hours and if you don't see anything you can go free until you do!. When walking around, Beware the scratch card touts, like us, I didnt speak to anyone who" hadn't "won a" free holiday", (read the small print!) from the selection of prizes, for 90 mins of their precious holiday time. A lot of the gift shops tend to sell the same merchandise but the price differs so shop around! We ate out every evening, The Slow Boat II, was fantastic, if you get a takeaway the portions are a lot bigger than when you sit down, We ordered too much and coulndn't eat it all. One of the most reasonable places was the Happy Burger (don,t be put off by the name,) the steaks were great so were the half roast chicken, we struggled to get a table more than once! One Sunday evening our stomachs were rumbling, when we stumbled across 'Slap 'n' Tickle' , family bar. what a find!. Not only did we have the best food ever during our holiday, there's a playroom for tots, playstation and computer for the older kids, and a pool table., The staff were fantastic with kids and adults alike, Scully and Reece kept us laughing and entertained, night after night with Quizzes & karaoke, Afterwards there was usually a singer on. It was great to know your kids are safe and occupied, in a no smoking area of the bar and it gave you a few minutes to yourself to relax and have a drink. I had read reveiws on The Villa Florida and Caleta de Fuste and was quite worried by some of the comments, but I had no need to be, " we only saw 3 live cockroaches in two weeks", while out at night. But I must say " the towels do smell," we found that if you hang them out on the patio before and after using them, the smell goes away. The maid came in every day but Sunday. We would definately return to the Villa Florida Apts, we had a great 2 weeks that went too quickly.
Basic, but adequate!
from rssum88
The Villa Florida apartments were basic, but provided a good base to explore other regions of the island. After reading the other reviews on this website, we were some what worried about the standard of acommodation. However it was slightly better than what we thought it would be! The apartments are clean...apart from the towels, which had a strong musty smell, so i advise you to bring your own! The bed spreads were also musty and had a few stains, however the sheets are very clean and crisp! The maid comes in most days, a does a pretty good job! We did not have to pay for a toaster/kettle/Tv which was good!Although you dont get any decent tv channels...but it doesnt matter when your on holiday! I advise you to pay 12 euros for the saftey deposit box for a week...as the locks on the apartment door are rubbish! The only real problem about the complex is the noise at night...the bar on the complex has entertainment at night which is really loud...and sometimes not that good, especially if you want an early night! Also you get quite a few children running past making lots of noise! Calete de fuste itself is a pleasent resort, very suited for families. Very touristy with lots of english owned pubs...The dome does a good english breaky!!!! Other good restraunts include the italian...Cassonatra, very nice food! And Slow Boat Chinese is very good value for money! The beach is lovely, although no waves! Lovely clear water with lots of sealife! If you want waves, walk south/right on the path behind the beach and there are more lovely beaches around the corner! I would reccomend a visit to the sand dumes, the beach opposite is lovely...lots of waves...watch out for the nudists! Overally a lovely holiday, good acommodation and a nice resort! Very good value for money aswell! Fuerteventura is a lovely Country, with breathtaking beaches! Worth a visit!
Villa Florida was great!

We have just returned from a 2 week stay at the Villa Florida apartments in Caleta de Fuste (Fuerteventura). Rooms very spacious, well equipped (included kettle and toaster) and clean.Only negative is that the towels were not absorbant and smelt bad so bring your own.Television 1 Euro for 1 hour, but all the channels were in Spanish! Pool area very clean and no fight for sunbeds even at 1pm.Both main and toddlers pool good size. Red Lion pool bar exellent - Prize quiz and bingo . Different singers every night. Staff helpful and food was good. Reception staff were really good too. Our tour operator was exellent too + arranged 2 tripts for us (Zoo & Lanzarote). We travelled with Thomas Cook. All in all this was an exellent holiday and we will definately return to the Villa Florida apartments.
