Jul 2011, happy nanny

Just back from a fab week at villa florida
went with my husband my daughter and her 2 young children
got the rooms we asked for so was very pleased
arived to very hot weather 3i at 7pm
the rooms are having a face lift so that was nice
everyone very friendly met some loverly people again pool kept very clean
the weather all week was very hot
would recomend the trafalgar pub for good english food
and the slow boat for a chinnese (the all you can eat slow boat not the one next to villa )
they also do a good take away but there are loads of good plaves to eat grandaughter and daughter went swimming with the sealions and enjoyed it very much 30 euros each for 15/20 min but well worth it take awalk along the beach to the shoping centre where you will find a spar food store with everything you need and much cheaper then jump in a taxi back to villa florida cost 3 euros well worth it if you dont want to pay transfers from airport you can get a taxi outside to villa florida for 10 euros and much quicker and you dont have to wait to long this is our 3rd time and cant wait to go back one thing you are garaneed is nice sunny weather and if you go in the summer you will be gratfull for the bit of breeze to cool you down

  • Advice: Go to dive centre and see all the sporting activities they have on offer

We have just returned from Villa Florida and found the apartment and complex clean and central. It is a very family orientated resort with lots of places to eat and plenty to keep you entertained.
Nestor's was the best place to eat in the whole resort, Nestor is from Venezuela and his wife Emma is British. He is a character and his steaks are to die for...!
Minstrals is also worth a visit as the food and service were brilliant.
Fado Rock Steakhouse was also good if a little rushed, they are always very busy.
Avoid the Aberdeen Steakhouse...very odd! Also the Thai and Chinese buffet should be given a very wide birth....the Slow Boat next door is lovely though.
The Old Sports Taven was also horrible...frozen veg and cold mash!
The Indian resturant next to the complex was very average so avoid.
The beach is ok but quite stony, much better to walk ten mins towards the Sheriden hotel as they have 3 small, clean sandy beaches that are really lovely.( taxi there only about 2.5-3 Euros) The sea is warm and sheltered and there is even a place to grab a bite to eat built out into the sea.
In the harbour there is a place to buy fish food for a euro and I would recommend sticking your feet in the water and sprinkling the food,,,they suck your feet (no teeth!)...a free pedicure.
Kids and adults also will love feeding the chipmunks that live in the rocks towards the Dog and Duck ( Mark and Michelle are fabulous and have the fastest free wifi on the island). The chipmunks love cucumber, they will eat it right out of your hands.
I would also recommend the trike tours with Cool Runnings, absolutely brilliant fun, and excellent way to see the island! Take your licence and you can ride your own trike...fabulous!
Would go back...and eat at Nestors every night...!!

After returning from the villa florida after a weeks stay, me and my partner were plesantly surprised with everything. Before we went, we read several reviews on here and were very put off. However, when we arrived we were put in an apartment right next to the pool. We hired a safe immediately after hearing about the break ins. We both felt very reassured after seeing security guards patrolling. The rooms werent totally up-to-date but were enough for us, as we didnt spend a lot of time in there. The pool was lovely, and the red lion bar did some excellent food. I would definately go back!

There were many apartments broken into during our holiday which really un nerved us never knowing if your going to come back at night to a broken door! You need to makesure you always double lock the door when u leave the apartment not just pulling the door too as although there is no handle on the outside, they just smash the window and open it from the inside! Apart from all that the holiday was plesant.

Great! But worrying!!

I have just arrived back in the UK after a weeks holiday here. The appartments are cheap and cheerful. Very clean, so ther was nothing to worry about there. The mail problem was the security. There were several attempted and successful break ins throughout our stay, which made us feel uneasy. We ended up having to put the 3 seater setee infront of the doors just incase!
I was there for a family holiday. In that party was my 17 month old neice. My sister's and husband's appartment was nearly broken into. My sister saw the burgular and was able to give a description to the police.
Plain clothes police were circulating around the complex last night!
All this said, the appartments are great. They are in a great position, with friendly staff.
The security issues should be resolved very soon, as they are installing some CCTV cameras.
I still would recommend these appartments.

Nightmare Management Company - The Cravens
2 / 10
Mar 2010, calibra

We stayed in this average Villa for two weeks - enjoyed our holiday only to have it spoiled by a corrupt money grabbing Owner/Management Company. They charged us for washing bedding that they asked us to place in the wash area anyway .... $30 per bed spread. They probably (as advised by other guests) just pick them up and put them back on the beds anyways without washing them ... Stay away from these people

Very good basic accommodation

I came here with my girlfriend and really enjoyed it. We paid around £240 each for the return flight and 7 nights accommodation, therefore was not after 5 star luxury and were not going to moan about every little problem. This in mind, the appartments and pool was fantastic. The area is open to anyone, therefore vulnerable to thieves, but do not let this put you off. Make sure you have a safe and lock the door! We did not witness any trouble and the place seemed safe.
The trips were very expensive, however, the free blanket trip was very good for seeing other parts of the island and hearing local information. The Bus to the capital is around £2.60 return, it's worth a afternoon out as there is some very interesting installations.

Just back after a week with my partner was FANTASTIC apartment maids were great only thing was sheets could be change regular and single beds are not good for couples must hire a fan rooms get realy hot. Aslo met lots of nice people on holiday and who have moved for uk and started own cafe

Very hot weather

My husband and i stayed at the appartments for two weeks from 25th July - 8th Aug 2009, the weather was very hot and sunny for both weeks, but a breese through out made it much more pleasant. The appartment was basic but clean and the room service were excellent, the appartment could benifit from a little updating in the kitchen area as they were a little basic and tired looking, the addition of airconditioning would be an advantage as it can be quite hot and airless in the appartment especially at night. The pool area was well maintained with an nice pool with seperate child pool although it would benefit from some sun shade from parasols and some new sun loungers. The situation of the appartments was nice and central for all amenaties. the nearest beach is not the nicest of beaches but a short walk further along the coast brings you a much more sandy beach with a very sheltered area for swimming more suitable for children. The island as a whole is very barron but has some fantastic features especially the fabulous beaches towards the south of the island and mountains on the west side of the island, well worth a visit.
