" Fab "

We have visited this hotel on at least 10 occassions and have never been disappointed yet.
Most of the guests are German and of retiring age a bonus as it is very quiet and peaceful.
The staff in the resaturants and bars are first class.
Rooms have a great sea view
What more do you want?
I am sorry we won't be there for Christmas this year.

Advice: Peacefull quiet stunning beaches

" As with previous review my daughter... "

As with previous review my daughter and I went on an Airtours Prestige holiday to the Costa Calma Palace Hotel. From start to finish this was a great holiday. The hotel is stunning and a great place if you want a peaceful and relaxing holiday. Our room was on the 6th floor and had a brilliant view of the pools and sea. As said before there's no view from the fourth floor except the building in front but we were delighted with the room we got. The room was very spacious, food delicious and my daughter enjoyed the cava at breakfast!!!!!! All the staff at the hotel were helpful and friendly and made our stay really enjoyable. Costa Calma is a very quiet resort, not many bars and clubs but the hotel had entertainment on most nights. We wanted to go for a relaxing break and that's exactly what we got. Most of the guests are German but we had no problem with that. If you want a quality hotel, great beaches and a place to unwind then the Costa Calma Palace is definately the place to go to. We did and had a brilliant time.

" We took this Prestige Holiday with... "

We took this Prestige Holiday with Airtours and was very impressed with the whole aspect.

The hotel is magnificent. The food excellent and the staff professional but friendly at the same time.

The only drawback is that few of the staff speak English so it helps if you have a few words of Spanish or German.

Most of the clients are middle-aged Germans and it is geared specifically for them.

Ask for a room either on the 3rd, 6th or 7th floors as these have the best views. Refuse a room on the 4th floor as all you will see is the roof of the block in front and a very distant view of the sea on the horizon.

Don't try to change your room after you have used it as they make a charge of 50 Euros for doing so.

The beach outside is excellent but don’t go if you are expecting much in the way of outside entertainment or shopping as there is very little of either.

All in all we found this an excellent hotel. The staff seemed happy in their jobs and 'El Director' was always around to make sure everything was to the satisfaction of his guests.

We shall certainly go again.

" Just arrived back from a fantastic... "

Just arrived back from a fantastic week in Costa Calma. Weather was fantastic and the hotel was really nice. The majority of the guests are middle class, middle aged German couples, but we didn't go on holiday to make friends with fellow Brits, we wanted a peaceful, relaxing week away from everything and we got it. The rooms were lovely, the food was gorgeous and the staff were very polite and friendly (especially Abdul our waiter.)

The beach was a public beach, so if you want to sit on the sun beds it will cost you 9 Euros, we stayed in the sand dunes below the pool, with the brilliant view of the beach and near enough to the quiet pool area. We stayed on the 2nd floor and had good sea views, but be warned if you stop on the 4th floor you only see the top of the front building and a bit of the sea, so stay away from that floor.

The hotel was expensive for drinks, so we found the local Spar round the corner, which was a godsend for snacks and cold drinks in the afternoon. The Germans were slightly rude at meal times, and reserving sun beds so early in the morning but I suppose we got used to them as the week went on (at least there was no noisy drunken Brits!!!) I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for peace and quiet and complete luxury. We used the complementary room before we went home, and yes it was a bit of a tip, but you are only there to use the bath or shower, and its free.

The staff made our holiday really special, but they will speak to you in German first, as they assume everyone is German. We learnt a few Spanish phrases (please and thank you, etc.) Once the staff realize you're English they love to talk to you and practice their English. A walk on the beach is always good for a laugh, there are all shapes and sizes walking around topless, further down the beach are the sister hotels (or scruffy cousin hotels) which we were glad we didn't stay in. Costa Calma Palace Hotel is secure, you use your card to get in and out of the beach.

This hotel was lovely, would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday.

" Overall it was a very good vacation... "

Overall it was a very good vacation week.
Resort:
Costa Calma is a really calm place but have nice weather (less wind) for beach. Do rent a car - fair prices at airport - and travel around the island. Don’t miss a trip (with your own wheels) to see Lanzarotes natural attractions but for your sake DON'T go there for beach.
Many naturists are there so don’t be surprised if a 50 year old couple sits naked next to you at beach.
If you are a diver you can do nice ones, though they have few sites. Personally I prefer Azores, Madeira or Cape Verde as Atlantic dive places.

Hotel:
It's a nice hotel but focused on the middle aged German couple, which comprehends about 80% of resort's population.
Everything, since schedules to habits is directed for this profile of person.
Great pools but not salt water as I saw at some site.
Very enjoyable food, with many options at the buffet. No chance of dining a la carte.

Employees are friendly until you ask them anything out of the routine. I had to daily ask for hot water at any of the bars (they wouldn’t take it to the room) so I could make milk for my one year old son and each time they make me feel as I ripped one rib from them. Like I'm-so-busy-and-you-ask-me-this-not-bar-related-burden-to-perform.
At last day I ask for a room to my family to take a bath, since we left the room at noon and transfer was at 6:00PM. They scheduled us in a shared room. All ok until we entered the room and see traces of last user: all towels used and in floor, full garbage bin and tub with hairs. As we asked for someone to clean the room the candid receptionist says: 'but the room is only for you to bath'. We were lucky they didn’t send us to pool’s shower...
Let me also refer that always they speak to you in German before other language.

To exchange beach towels for clean ones - important if you have a child - may also reveals a daily Greek tragedy, since they work in such a scheme that if you must be lucky in order to be one to exchange towel with the few ones that arrives daily from cleaning company which is only possible after 11:00AM - not before. So if you are planning to leave early every day or arrive after noon just forget clean towels.

As they say there: 'Fuerte fuerte !'
