Just can not beat the overall experience of the holiday, the staff at the hotel were very welcoming and could not do enough for you. The rooms were cleaned daily. The restaurant food was the best value for money in the whole resort. The hotel is a 3 minute walk to the... more

Well what can i say? only 2 stars? i should give it 3.5. The hotel was very natural looking, and not trying to be over-the-top. It is owned by a family so it is well presented. The gardens in the hotel are large and very well looked after compared to most of the hotels in... more

lovely family run hotel.
We stayed at the ata lagoon hotel at the end of july.On arrival at 6am we were greeted by a friendly man on reception. We were charged 28 lira for aircon. our bags were carried up the stairs to our room. Our room overlooked the pool, was small but very nice and clean.(room 207).The only complaint i had was i didnt think much of their towels as they look quite old. We was really happy with the service we recieved and the friendliness of all the staff. The food was delicious and the head waiter Musa reserved us a table every night and dressed it with flowers.(nice touch). On tuesday evenings its turkish night, turkish dancers, belly dancer (my hubbies favourite) and a fire eater.Be warned they do try to get you up to join in . Pool area is lovely with plenty of sun loungers and parasols, large pool table and bar. There is also a jacuzzi and small gym room but you need to ask to know where they are. All in all a very nice hotel, nothing posh but comfortable with nice staff. 5 minute walk to the beach and local bars and shops. Will definately be going back.
An amazingly nice trip!
After reading the very negative review, we were quite worried, but we totally enjoyed our stay at the Ata Lagoon. Yes, the room we had was a bit small, and we did ask about changing to a poolside one: however, there weren't any free, and we realised once we'd unpacked that the room was fine - also, the poolside ones were infested with small children, and we felt we've had enough of that...... The hotel is scrupulously clean, and the staff are the friendliest that you could ever wish to meet. they laugh and smile at you, and with each other all the time - a pleasant change from going out to eat in England! The food is amazingly good: we did intent to eat out, but it is obviously the best place in town to eat, and really good value. Best of all is the enormous, sizzling hot pitta bread - (about a foot long, by about five inches wide), that they bring to your table as soon as you have ordered, along with a pot of garlic & herb butter - yum! We've never been to Turkey before, and were slightly apprehensive that as it was a cheap trip, that it might not match up to other holidays, but it was glorious. The best trip we did was the one to Dalyan (including an hysterical half hour in the mud baths!). I can certainly recommend the Ata Lagoon to anyone - and if you have got them, they are very kind to children! The only negative point that our room, although well away from any noise from the hotel, was a bit too close to the one next door, and we suffered from their disco one night.
Perfect
The Hotel and especially the staff were first class We had no complaints what so ever. The food was excellent with a wide choice of all sorts for breakfast, but evening meals was simply superb. We ate out every night and none of the others were as good as the Ata Lagoon, honestly. We ended up eating their most nights. From the gardener to the cleaning ladies who, on my birthday and our wedding anniversary, made beautiful arrangements on our beds using flowers and towels. Ikan and Mustafa who ran the pool bar and kept throwing myself and Luke in the pool (we did get them back though) and basically kept everyone entertained and were just really friendly fun guys. Haki and Musa who ran the restaurant. nothing was too much trouble and again was just so friendly. And finally Eminie, the receptionist who was just so sweet, nothing was too much trouble not that we had to ask for much and had a permanent smile on her face every day. The rooms we had allocated were under the restaurant and looked newer than the others. Could not have asked for anything more. The one for the kids had two single and a double bed in there and could have easily fitted another single one in (room 506) and even had a bath in it. Spotlessly clean and air conditioned which was a god send The whole experience was excellent and would not hesitate on recommending this hotel to anyone.
Speachless!!
Had some reservations after reading one reveiw, however the experience we had was the completge opposite. The place ia magical. Yes the rooms are basic but perfectly adequate. Loved every day every minute and every second of our holiday. The peolpe are the friendliest I have ever met. Funny , helpful. Brilliant. The area is wonderul but hey you'd have to experience it yourself. We loved it and can't wait to return.
What a Gem of a Hotel
I stayed at the Ata Lagoon Beach for 2 weeks in October. I had a lovely holiday and met some great new friends both English and Turkish. I restaurant food was fantastic and I would highly recommend you try it. I did find the Turkish guy who tried to get people into the restaurant on occassions rude and over fimilar he also acted like a spoilt child when you did not appreciate his chat up lines, his friend Muso was the head waiter he also had a strop on at times. But Oz the bar man was great, The receptionist Eminie and Musti were both fab, could not do enough for you. The Chef and kitchen staff work very hard. Kamal the owner of the Hotel was also very entertaining, and his family were very friendly. The hotel rooms were cleaned daily and linen changed every 2 days. The chambermaids worked very hard. The Gardener/Night security/pool man was also very nice and kept his gardens and pool area beautiful and clean. I would recommend this to everyone and anyone.
Small basic but clean and loved OluDeniz
When we arrived the hotel staff were very friendly, however the receptionist hardly spoke a work of English so it made a few things a bit tricky. There were 3 of us sharing one room and it was very small but it was clean. There were only 2 hangers in the cupboard and when we went to open the patio door the handle fell off. As we were on the ground floor we were a little weary having a door that didnt close. It took a while for the receptionist to understand this but the handyman 'Mammit' was extremely helpful and fixed our hot water and changed out lightbulbs aswell as fixing the door very efficiently and also very proudly presented us with more coat hangers and clean towels. Overall it turned out to be the best holiday I've ever had, Olu Deniz is a beautiful place and as 3 blonde girls it worked out very cheap with lots of free drinks!!! we did in the end grow quite attatched to out little room but when we go again in May we will look around for another hotel. Would not reccommend it for a luxury or romantic holiday but being so close to the resort center and the beach was a deffinate plus. Cant wait to go back to Olu Deniz!!!!
Thank you to all at the Ata Lagoon
We stayed at the Ata Lagoon in June 2008 and returned again in September 2008. The staff were absolutely fantastic with us. They were caring, generous and very friendly. We were there during the world cup and of course Turkey did very well. We displayed the british way of celebrating football and brought the roof down in the hotel. Dave was well known by the staff and residents and also by the manager who was extremely friendly towards us. We will continue to return to this hotel. It is only 5 minutes from the beach. The weather is fantastic, the pool area is comfortable and the food is good. Will be back in 2009 Love David and Pat from Cheshire xx
Never step a foot inside Ata Lagoon!! Horrible place!
We booked through A1 Travel to stay at the Ata Lagoon in Olu Deniz. Two words, absolutely horrible. Firstly we arrived and the staff were very rude and arrogant. The staff are nice with you, so long as you agree with everything they say, if you disagree with them, you see their true colours here at Ata Lagoon, especially the men, There were mainly two of them, the first man to look out for is the one who drags tourists off the street and into the resant at night! The second is the manager, or the "head waiter" as many referred to him. One night, a turskish night was held, we had a very nice evening and returned to our rooms satisfied. The next turkish night was held the next week, and as you can guess, we also attended that one. But this evening was totally different. The music was so loud we couldn't hear ourselves talking at our table. We asked politely for them to turn it down, and they ignored our wish. We asked again, explaining that it was spoiling our evening and that we would have to leave without finishing our three course meal unless they turned it down. They started swearing at us, saying it was our fault for attending. We explained it was ok the week beforeas the music wasn't as loud, but they woulnd't listen. They started threatening us, saying they would call "Jandarna" or as we call them "Police" unless we sat down and finished our meal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! By this point we were all very upset, and they had spoilt our holiday. Not only did they have the cheek to force us back down into our seats, but they also manhandled my boyfriend. This wasn't what you would call "service," and pleasiustomers. We were being threatened in a country we hadn't visited before. It spoilt our entire holiday, and on top of this we made a formal complaint to the manager of the hotel, a lady in her 40's, and she told us in other words, to [--] off back to England! Never stay at the Ata Lagoon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Horrible horrible place. Trust us, we've been there and hated every moment of it.
Fair report on Hotel
Booked off the net "last minute", on reading up afterwards did not see any mention of aircon which slightly worried me also the star rating was rather low! Thought "what the heck" can easily arrive and if we did not like it move to another hotel or even resort for the duration. On arrival in the early hours of the morning was allocated room and bags were taken up, initial impression to be honest was they were rather small but the aircon was present and for the first time "ever" in Turkey there was no extra payment for it. Had a quick look around later on in the day and noticed there were half a dozen larger rooms "pool side" these were almost twice the size and looked inviting, I queried the price expecting to pay extra but was told they were the same price! At first we were told there was no vacancies but after two days we asked again and were allocated one. The holiday went from very good to Great! Hotel: Clean, Tidy, adequate, good facilities and attractive grounds. Large swimming pool with smaller one for the kiddies and plenty of sun loungers so no need for running down at midnight to book one! Rooms: again clean and tidy with regular linen changes, most rooms are as previously stated on the small side, but this is a feature of Turkey, No fridge or kettle but it doesnt claim to be the savoy! "Free aircon" I still find it difficult to believe! Staff: As friendly bunch of people you could ever wish to meet! They are overworked and probably underpaid but they bend over backwards to accomodate your wishes. The manager is ever present making sure things run as smooth as possible and very approachable (he even bought a round for the whole hotel when Turkey won during the euro cup!) Food: I make a point of eating out on holidays prefering to try different places so was slightly miffed to find that the hotel served excellent food at possibly the cheapest price in the area, well cooked and very tasty so we ate there every other night, the full english b/f was second to none but bare in mind this is an extra cost as the normal b/f is Turkish. Location: The hotel is situated on the outskirts of the resort, but the outskirts are only a couple of hundred yards from the beach or shopping area, noise is never an issue but a very short walk sees you in the "thick of it" Guests: I have never mentioned this on reports before, but were very pleasantly surprised to find that all the guests were the most friendliest bunch we have ever met on holidays, All ages seemed to gell together and families/couples were soon chatting away and organising their excursions together. This was by far the aspect which made the holiday (especially from the wives point of view) Resort: Olu Deniz is quite a small place with limited but adequate resources, plenty of eateries/shops and trip organisers and a very good Turkish bath (Hamam). The main two features are the Blue lagoon and the Paragliding both of which I would recommend, The lagoon is quite a sight and the paragliding was a fantastic experience although the trip up the mountain to the launch site was nerve breaking, I asked if I could be taken up just to take photos and was told it was so scarey I would not want to come back down by road...and they were right! I have a dread of heights but on launch, all fear was lost...you must...must have a go! From OD it is a short bus ride to Hisanoru where there is a better supply of shops and the main local market is in Fetheye which slightly further. Trips/tours: any of the sailing trips are recommended and very cheap (£4 pp for a days boat trip with dinner thrown in) dont bother going to see the waterfall in butterfly bay on one of the cruises, it is a very slippery arduous climb and nothing to see at the end, not worth the effort! try a boat trip from OD and one from Fetheye. Jeep trip..excellent fun and some beautiful scenes but be prepare to get very wet and very dirty, I would recommend taking a bandana to put over your nose to stop choking your lungs. The deep gorge is one of the stops and stunning scenery, you stop to take photos of the cliff tombs but you do not go near enough to go in. Paragliding..enough said already...mind blowing, and I am 63 with a deep fear for heights In general...one of the best holidays I have had, great hotel, great resort, great fellow holliday makers, not too much hassle and loads of laughs, has taken over from Icmeler as my future Turkish resort
I'd go back!
Stayed at the Ata Lagoon Hotel in Sept 07 and was very impressed with the location and cleanliness. Staff very friendly and helpful if you had any questions/problems. The hotel is located about half way down the main road into Olu Deniz so the main beach is only a 5-10 min walk away. The main shops only 10 mins walk away too. Food ok, but watch out if you are a veggie - found a rogue piece of meat in a veggie dish! Prices for food and drinks very reasonable. I'd definitely go back - the resort is excellent and the hotel good value for money!
