The best holiday for ages
Just returned 30th May 2010 after 2 weeks here at the Zante star. The first weeks weather wasnt brilliant but the second was very good. We were welcomed by the staff with a free drink at the bar. Room was a bit smaller than expected but the cleanist ever stayed in and had pool veiw. During the 2 week stay had an excellent holiday, staff were very friendly and Irena at the bar was such a lovely girl. Food was excelent and good value for money. Tsilivi town was only a short walk away where there are very good bars and restaurants, we recomend Trenta Nova, ate here 3 times, Had great next door neighbours Tony and Odelle. We would definately stay here again which is something we have never done, we like to try different locations and have never been to the same place twice but are planning to return to Zante Star again. 10 out of 10
a brilliant hotel
I have just returned from the Zante Star, I stayed for 2 weeks and travelled with my sister. The Apartments were excellent, they were cleaned daily and all the staff were extremely friendly. We were only self catering but the rooms were of a good size and clean. We had a great balcony with great neighbours and a lovely view of the olive groves. The food in the restaurant was very good and there was a great happy hour from 7pm-9pm. The weather wasn't great some days but we can't control that! We just had to laugh and enjoy the holiday. We would definitely recommend this hotel
ideal holiday
a great hotel ,run by very frindly and caring people.we were made very welcom e the hotel is spotlessly clean .met some lovely people ,hi to nina and penny.our next door neighbours. would definately recommend this hotel
Excellent apartments
Myself and my husband plus kids aged 2 and 6 have just returned from 2 weeks in the Zante Star Apartments in Tsilivi. We read up the reviews on Trip Advisor before booking and we have not been disappointed! The hotel is a lovely size, not too big/small and nearly all the guests were English therefore there was a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere as everyone spoke the same language. All the kids, of all ages, played together in the pool all day long. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the rooms are cleaned daily (except Sun) and include regular linen and towel changes (there are also hairdyers in the bathrooms). The staff are very friendly and helpful. The nearest beach is about 5 mins walk away and the centre of Tsilivi is about a 10 mins stroll. However, the hotel is tucked away on a lovely quiet round (which is lite at night) and is within easy walking distance even with kids (5 Euros for a taxi if you can't be bothered). Foods menu is good (and so is the food) for the day but the same menu operates during the evening which is a little limiting but I assume most people go into town most evenings once the happy hour is over! There is low key entertainment every other evening. There is Internet access which is 2 Euros for 30 mins (which you don't have to use in one go). Great hotel for a 3 star - great value for money. I would say most suitable for families. Book and enjoy!
You have to go!!!
I'll keep it simple, the place is fantastic. The hotel is clean, the food is lovely, the atmosphere is just right, the location is ideal, the staff are excellent. It is a 10 minute walk to the centre of Tsilivi, and about the same to the beach, the centre is full of places to eat, and we never had a bad meal the 2 weeks we were there., plenty of choices of style of food, and they do not pester you to eat in there place. The manager who is called Yanni is friendly, but can come across as a bit moody, but overall he was very good, he runs a very tidy hotel, the staff are out of this world. First there is Angie on the reception, then there is Anna on the bar during the day, and Irena on the bar in the evening, these 3 ladies are so polite and lovely, it makes your time there that extra bit special. I would not hesitate to go back as i know a lot of people do, the 2 weeks in mid July were very hot with no clouds in the sky, but the hotel has a lovely pool with loads of sun loungers and air conditioning in your rooms if you pay for it, i must say it costs about £100 for the 2 weeks though. Get yourself gone you will have a wonderful time.
Fantastic hotel
I have only just returned from a weeks stay at the Zante Star with my girlfriend and although I never usually write reviews, this is an exception. This hotel is superb. Right from the start we were welcomed by friendly staff, great facilities and good food. The hotel is situated approx 5-10 minutes from the beach and around 15 minutes from the centre of Tsilivi. The hotel owner (Yannis)runs a tight ship and everywhere is kept spotless and running smoothly which includes a great pool area where there are more than enough sunbeds should everyone in the hotel decide to sunbathe that the same time! The food was also good and not overpriced. I would recommend having now been there to try to get a room with a pool view if you intend to use our balcony, however it didn't really affect us too much as we were rarely in our room. Tsivili itself is a great town with loads of restaurants catering for all tastes and it also feels very safe. If you decide to go on the boat tour make sure you are prepared to spend around 80% of the day on the boat with only minimal time viewing the beach/wreck itself. We decided to rent a Jeep and went up to a viewing point looking over the bay which I would highly recommend as an alternative. We will definitely be returning to the Zante Star and could not recommend it enough to anyone reading this review.
Perfect Holiday apart from Hotel Manager!
Zante Star hotel is a lovely little hotel. Right off the beaten track so you can escape the main strip if you want. We had a fabulous time at the hotel. It's clean and the always lots of sunbeds around the pool! Our only disappointment really was the hotel manager. One night they had karaoke. We got back in from our night out at 1am and it was still blaring away. I phoned up to ask when this would end and was told 2am! That level of noise is not want you want in the early hours! Anyhow next morning get up go to beach and the manager stops us. Instead of apologising we felt intimidated by the man. He asked us did we want to ruin everyones holiday by stopping the fun! Then subsequently on another night he pulled us aside and asked us not to complain again. We thought he was joking so laughed but he didn't laugh back!
Excellent Apartments in a quiet location
We had been recommended these apartments by the travel agent as her family had stayed there previously and the price was so right we jumped at the chance, we were not dissappointed by any means. The apartments were lovely very clean and well equipt and were cleaned dail with fresh towels and laundry every second day, we had a top floor apartment and were overlooking the pool and the sea the views were lovely!! The pool area is well maintained, maids out every morning cleaning and washing down the pool area and beds etc , there is no need to book your beds "german style" too as there are plenty of beds available all day, good selection of music played throughout the day and food and drink served by the pool also. The Staff were very friendly and helpful especially Yanni the owner, Sarah in reception and Anna and Irena behind the bar who all made us feel very welcome to the hotel. The food in the hotel was excellent too, from their breakfasts to their club sandwiches and daily specials I couldnt fault it and im quiet fussy when it comes to food. The best thing I liked about the Zante Star was the atmosphere, there were groups and families who all previously met there and now return every year at the same time and they made us feel very welcome and part of everything. The Zante star does provide entertainment from Pool Competitions to Greek Nights and Quiz nights with lots or prizesand its great for everyone. I would recommend the Zante Star for families and couples looking for great servce in comfortable and quiet surroundings. The hotel is located on a hill and has lots of stairs so wouldnt recommend it to people with moility issues. Zante Star is approx a ten minute walk from the resort centre of Tsilivi buts its a straightforward walk and is quiet nice to walk it in the evenings. Tsilivi itself is lovely too, on our first day we walked into town and turned right towards the beach and at first panicked because we thought the resort was tiny but then later discovered if you turn left it brought you into the main centre with all the pubs and restaurants, we went the beginning of June so it was still pretty quiet which we didnt mind as we were not there for a pub club holiday, there were a number of restaurants we ate in that i would recommend especially liked the Athena rest. great for their traditional food i tried the lamb kleftico and it was devine... when your over their you have to try the Gyro Pittas there about €2.50 and there great for a lunchtme snack or after the pub if your still hungry...on average the food was quiet cheap appox €32 euro for 2 starters, 2 mains and a bottle of wine and 2 minerals. We also hired a car from Theo Rentals for 3 days for €80 no extra charges with full insurance we drove all around the sland for the 3 days and still only managedto use €15 in petrol, I woud definately recommend hiring a car, the island is small s can cover all of it in 3 days we went up the west of the island the first day and covered the more traditional greek villages, second day we drove south and went to Keri and the turtle islands etc and the last day we drove north, hired a boat to the blue caves and the shipwreck beach (recommend going there). All in all, if your looking for a nice relaxed resort with lots to do, good food and good people then Tsilivi is the place for you.
Relaxing Hotel
All the staff at this Aparthotel were very freindly and helpful, the rooms were of a high standard for a 3 star hotel and there was daily maid service. There was a fridge ,Kettle, Toaster and hotplates (at no extra charge). It was a quiet location which meant a 15/20 minute walk to the centre, and ther are quite a few steps leading up to the Hotel so not good for anyone with walking difficulties. We were very impressed and would definately go back again
Brilliant apartments
I would recommend these apartments. They are in a great location. The staff are friendly. They had happy hour in the bar on an evening so we would have a cocktail there before heading to the centre for a meal. We had lunch from the bar a few times and it was lovely. The apartments were nice and clean. It was about a 10-15 min stroll to the centre.
