My friend and i arrived at the Summerland Apartments in the middle of the night and the man on the reception who spoke very little English demanded our passports and simply pointed us up some stairs with a key. We asked if there was somewhere we could get some water to which he just said morning and walked away. After entering our stifling room we went back down to ask how to turn on/purchase air con to which he again shook his head and said morning. Lets just say our first night was very uncomfortable.
Apartments are quite spacious and were clean almost throughout but half way through our bins hadnt been changed for several days and as we had fruit leftovers a trail of ants developed. When asking reception about this the VERY RUDE woman said it wasnt possible that they hadnt been changed so i emptied the bin myself and left it outside the room.
Pool and gardens are nice and clean, though you need to get down early to get a sunbed as there arent enough. You are a 15 min walk down a very dark unlit road to restraunts and a bus ride away from anything remotely upbeat or busy. You are no where near a beach you have to get a bus into Rhodes town for this.
On our last day after we had packed our suitcases we headed into ixia for some lunch. My friend and I had counted our money before we left to see how much we were taking home with us. On our return i went back into my case to put the rest of my money back in my pouch for the airport, i noticed i was 20 Euros down. I told my friend who checked and was also 20 Euros down. We immediatly went to reception and told them, their response was shocking. The lady said she trusted her staff more than she trusted her own family, that they had worked there for 10 yrs and never had anything like this ever occured. She was very aggresive, pushed the phone at me and said call the police but you wont make your flight. Another couple who overheard then came told us they had had cigarettes and 10 Euros go missing from their room. The reception staff make you leave your key everytime you leave the complex, so they know exactly when you are in or our of your rooms. It speaks for itself. I would NEVER stay here again.

Maria on reception and breakfasts, with Stellios behind(and in front of)the bar were excellent.excellent pool, and other facilities. 10 minute walk to main road, so really quiet, could not wish for anything more. many thanks.

This is a great hotel if you're after peace and quiet. It's set back from the main road with a ten-minute stroll along a quiet road to get to the restaurants/bus stop/supermarket. Do take a torch though as parts of the road are very dark. It's about a 20min walk to the main (more reasonably priced) supermarket and a bigger selection of bars/restaurants.
We were on a B&B basis and the breakfast on offer was fine. It would be nice if they alternated choice of what was on offer rather than the same thing every day and some fresh fruit and fresh local bread (rather than sliced, packaged stuff) would have been a bonus too. However, the selection on offer were: bread (which you can toast) cake, biscuits, (cold) boiled eggs, ham, cheese, Greek yoghurt, tinned peaches, honey, jams, a couple of cereals, tea, green tea, fruit juice and (weak) coffee.
The pool is great with plenty of sun beds. There is a snack bar open beside the pool but it is really over-priced (£1.30 for a can of coke, £2.50 for a 500ml bottle of soft drink, £3.75 for a club sandwich with chips! The salads were the going rate (seemingly) about 5 Euros for a Greek salad, for example). You are encouraged (by signs) not to bring your own food and drinks to the pool but we did. I bought six cans of coke in the supermarket for £1.95 and took them with me along with bottled water during the day and we were never challenged. The man who runs the snack bar is really friendly and he seemed a little embarrassed about the cost of things.
A short walk from the hotel brings you to a small supermarket and Eleni taverna. I'd skip both unless you had to use them. The service in Eleni was slow and the food was not that great. It was overpriced for what you got. You're far better off walking to the main road and eating at Whispers where the food is great. The staff at Whispers are brilliant too; very friendly and chatty.
The B&B allocated rooms are big enough and the wardrobe had lots of hangers, which was a welcome surprise. There is a small fridge, which does the job. The rooms are clean and modern. The bathroom, however, flooded every time we used the shower. It's not a massive problem in the grand scheme of things but it was a bit of a nuisance to have to turn the water off mid-shower, let it drain before a flood and then turn the water back on. The bathrooms were cleaned daily along with the bedroom. Overall, the hotel itself is very clean and cannot be faulted in this area, in my opinion.
The staff are all friendly enough, particularly the receptionist who covered the late afternoon/evening shift. She was really helpful and gave lots of directions to places when we asked. The woman (boss/manager) on reception during the morning/day was a bit frosty and not very friendly. However, if you asked for something she would always oblige in a professional manner. I think she's just not an over-friendly person.
There is a well stocked (locked) bookcase where they record what you've taken and given back. It does mean that as books are given back they have a massive selection on offer as they're not taken home by other guests.
There isn't any entertainment in this hotel but that was a positive, in my opinion, as usual hotel entertainment is always a bit sub-standard and cringe-worthy.
The bakery on the main road (just at the top of the quiet road) had really nice cakes and bread (the hotel should get some in the mornings!) on offer and I'd recommend it. You'll be spoilt for choice in there.
The bus runs regularly into Rhodes and it is worth exploring the Old Town for a day. Get off the beaten track down the small side lanes to find some great bars and restaurants.

A bit off the beaten track, not a place to go if you have trouble walking. Night manager OK but all other staff really nice and helpful.
Don't bother with the breakfast, overpriced and very dull.
The ladies who cleaned were just the best, no English but made themselves understood and nothing was too much trouble for them.

I visited the Summerland Apartments end of august last year, the weather was vry hot i loved it!
The Summerland apartments were very clean and quite spacious the outisde pool was nice and big and always kept clean. The staff are very friends especially the barman in the hotels bar! I'd say its a 5-10 min walk to the main stip which isnt to bad but i mostly gotn a taxi which is nxt to nothing in cost. Receptionists are very helpfull they book the taxis for you. The maid service is very good had clean towels and sheets everyday.
All in all i loved this holiday and strongly recommend!!

Just returned from a wonderful holiday at the Summerland Hotel and apartments. The hotel was spotless with clean bedding and towels every day. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. I have stayed at this hotel for the past 4 years and have been very satisfied every time. The supermarket across the road sells english papers. If you are looking for a good meal go to the Napoli and meet Nikos who is very pleasant.

Me and my partner had previously stayed at Summerland 2years ago and enjoyed it very much so we decided to return for our wedding this year and bring 60 of our friends and family with us. Everyone said what a fantastic complex it was the staff are extremely friendly and will do anything to help you. They even through us a wedding party, which was a dj and pool party it was fantastic. The rooms were always kept clean and tidy, towels and sheets changed mosts days, one of the cleanest apartments I've ever stayed in. It is in a great location not too near the busy roads, just about a 5 min walk to resturants which is a nice walk on an evening. We are sure to return in the future and would highly recommend this complex to any.

The pool and apartments were beautiful and clean though we found the staff not particularly friendly. Most sunbeds were taken by 8 in the morning, I don't think there were enough for all the rooms, they needed to have some spare stacked at the side for people to use.
We were there with our son (13) and daughter (15) who were very disappointed when they realised that the majority of the youngsters there were dutch or swedish. The apartments deal with 3 dutch companies, 1 Swedish and 1 English. My son especially was very bored as he had no friends. The kids ended up spending more and more time at the Anixis apartments down the road where they had lots of friends and we were made very welcome there.
The apartments are down a residential road which at the end was an extremely busy main road which took ages to cross. Best restaurants were Napoli followed by Whispers. The waterpark was a good trip but it may be better to make your own way there as the trip we took meant we were only there for 4 hours when it was opened for 10 hours and at 20 euros each - not good value for 4 hours.

A lovely place to stay, about 10/15 minute walk from the main road depending on which path you take at the eleni shop. Had no complaints with the complex at all, the staff were wonderful, particularly stelios the barman. Only problem for me and my family was that people were putting sun towels out really early and then going off for hours making it difficult for us to get a bed. Best restaurants nearby for us were whispers and napoli. Mostly used the main supermarket next to the anixis hotel but found that nannou was very cheap too. We would definately go back again.

Just come back from a great holiday ,Appartment was very clean and the bedding and towels changed every day. Staff very pleasent and helpful,a long walk to a busy main road be prepared for a long wait to cross. only negative comment was that they charge 7euro per day for Air-conditioning and when the temp.is over 100 every day and never below 80 at night can be very expensive.
Whisper's resturant and Debbie's cafe great places to eat and try the bakery at bottom of road

I'm 17 and went with my two friends also 17, our first holiday alone ever, scary. We arrived to find a pitch black island with no light or action to be seen a worrying view for three teenagers! On arriving at the apartment we were told a power cut had occurred, we were shown our room and decide it be best seen as it was already 8 and pitch black to go for a walk find a shop and get candles. The major shop was within 10 min walk and the corner shop was literally 3 mins away. The staff were wonderful, the bar man was kind and made amazing cocktails. To say we went in October the night life in Rhodes Town was immense and we have recently booked with a big group of friends to hit these apartments again in July 08 and cant wait, loved it thank you xxxx

We stayed there from 13 to 22 July 2011. It is a very clean hotel, cosy and well situated. Due to the strike of taxi, we travel most of time with buses which are very frequent. The bus stop is not far from the hotel(15 minutes walking).
My girlfriend and i loved the pool which is fairly enough big and really clean, and that was the reason many parents allowed their babys swimming all day long. Be careful though because there is no lifeguard on duty. For eating try Whispers next to the bus station on the main road and the italian restaurant called Napoli ten minutes walking on the main road towards the direction of the city of Rhodes. Also, once on faliraki, try The Cactus restaurant. Very good food, and not expensive.
For sightseeing dont miss the Castello and the walk on top of it, every Tuesday and Saturday before midday. Also visit the Archealogical museum for 6 euros entrance open except Monday from 08.00 to 20.00. Really worth it. Butterflies is a nice place to visit for 5 euros entrance but we think that the Rodini park very close to the city is far better beautiful, with a river through it. Take bus 3 from the centre of Rhodes to visit Rodini park. Dot forget to visit Lindos and its Acropolis which is older that the Athenean Acropolis. Rhodes has also its own Acropolis which also worth visiting. Most of days, we preferred to stay at hotel for swimming up to 15.00 and then we visited other places. However, if you wanna go swimming at sea, try Kremasti beach, Faliraki and Lindos.
We definitely think of going in this hotel on future vacations.
