I generally quite liked the hotel but if it wasn't for Crazy Mike us Brits would be pretty stuffed as far as entertainment goes. My advice when Mikes on a day off go to the beach because the staff weren't actually that bothered and tried to make feeble excuses as why they... more

A group of 12 of us stayed in 4 rooms for 3 nights here and we had a great time! The food wasn't up to much, we only went into the restaurant on the first day and all decided we'd eat elsewhere from now on. Plenty of choice but mostly the food was cold, the main thing that... more

We arrived for a family holiday on the 10th June 08 for 1 week. The Hotel is the best we have ever stayed in. The food is great and the entertainment for the kids is excellent, all outside on a terrace. You get a seperate bedroom which I rather liked, and a small kitchen. ... more

Nice in parts
We stayed in August with our kids aged 11 & 14 on a self-catering basis. First impressions were that the hotel appeared slightly run down and this was indeed confirmed when we stepped into our one-bedroomed apartment. The rooms could do with a makeover. Even a lick of paint would go a long way. The room was, however, reasonable in all other respects. The swimming pool is certainly the highlight of the hotel. The hotel entertainment was ok especially for the kids. The "resident entertainer" Pedro was the most likeable soul you'll ever meet on your holidays. He worked tirelessly and seemed genuinely concerned that the guests were having a good time. He ran the Kid's club, did water aerobics, dancing lessons, was MC for the evening entertainment and did the usual bingo and "Play your cards right" routines etc. The area (Cala Finestrat) is far more quiet than the lively Benidorm town centre and Levante Beach area. (3 miles away) However, the bay area at Cala Finestrat is very charming and the restaurants which line it are exceptionally good value, charging between 9-11 euros for 4 course menus with bread and wine! Overall a fair establishment!
it was okay
We stayed at the Monika Holidays hotel for 2 weeks in July, All Inclusive, the food was ok what you would expect really. There was 6 of us, 2 adults and 4 teenagers ages from 12 - 16yrs, who found the entertainment more suited to younger kids, which if they were would have loved it, as the stuff for young kids was great. We as adults felt the entertainment for us was pretty poor and found from other adults they thought the same. The entertainers themselves were trying the best with what they had, but on two occasions it was nil and none exsistant due to major problems!!!! i.e. no shows!! I would recommend the hotel to families who have much younger children beleive me they will have a ball, but don't expect to much if you are adults who like to be entertained in an adult fashion, because this is the quieter area there is not much outside the hotel. However on a good note, we did all the trips, Med Night (included with the holiday) fab, the Terra Mitica, excellent, Water Park, fab, tickets for Terra Mitica cheaper at the hotel Bali, the Monika doesn't do them. But as I said great hotel for young families, and OH did I mention the FANTASTIC SWIMMING POOL.!!!!
Good family friendly facility, but not perfect
This 'monika holidays' hotel was ok. We were there on "full board", i.e. not 'inclusive' - we had all meals, but had to buy drinks at the bar. Some things were great, but some things were frustrating. Great stuff first - it is very kid friendly, almost to excess. There are kids activities, kids shows, and kids can keep themselves busy in many ways. The staff works extremely hard to make guests welcome. The staff in the food service area are amazing, working very hard to make tables available and keep plates cleared. I have nothing but praise for the hotel staff. Now for my frustrations. The pool closes at 7:00pm. Watching the people in other pools at neighboring properties during the later evening made me envious. The food service is great, but the food itself is just "ok". I didn't really expect it to be gourmet - you have to cut corners when serving this many people. The dining facility, in what i am guessing use to be a parking garage, is ok but not very glamorous. The facility itself could use some restructuring. walls, doors, and fences seem to be placed almost at random. It was odd that to get to the pool you had to walk through one of the planters. Everyone seemed to do this, but it felt odd. The physical plant seems to be showing its age with areas and items that are roped off or non functional like the fountains in the pool. The pool, though georgeous, was a major frustration. All lounge chairs are "reserved" with towlels by 9:00 am. Later it is unlikely to get a chair. There has got to be a better way to do chair reserves, but i guess the regulars are used to this. Last complaint was on drinks at the bar. There is almost always a queue at the bar to get drinks. This makes sense if the goal of the hotel is to slow distribution of drinks to inclusive guests, but only served to annoy me as i was trying to drinks.
quite but handy for everywhere in Benidorm
The quiet part Cala Finestrat, but easy walks to Benidorm or the No.5 bus at 3.60 euros for 4 each way. Sand sculptures worth a look at on the beach. Finestrat beach nice and quiet for small children. This was our first time in Spain, Hotel good but disappointing that the entertainment was very much the same every night. Food excellent, a good choice at every meal. Our 2 teenage sons certainly got there moneys worth. Room couldn't have been nicer but Ok for the time spent in there. Pool should have been heated perhaps. March into April over Easter when lots of families there. Would recommend it, staff very friendly and helpful and could speak recognisable english.
Fantastic
What a fantastic hotel. The staff were always friendly and ready to help. It was good that we could use the facilities of the other hotels in the chain as well. Plus a free bus to help us get around. It was spotless from top to toe, I have only high praise for both the staff and the hotel. Keep up the good work.
the best
the hotel was great, people were friendly, not far from beach with great views the weather was hot pool was a bit cold, i went with my family for a week and no1 wanted to come home i would definitly recomend this hotel to every1 keep up the good work staff
Just arrived home
From the Monika Hotel there were 7 of us 4 adults & 3 children aged 8, 11, & 13. We all had a great time there was plenty for the children to do and a great childrens club so we could have a break aswell. Variety of food to suit all and very nice it was too. Very friendly staff, Clean Hotel, Large rooms and balcony with lovely sea view. We would definetly go back. Advise you not to go on a banana boat as 2 adults very sore afterwards, and still are 4 days later.
excellent
Just returned from Magic Monica for the second time this year, it was even better this time. The staff were very kind and remembered us, the food brill, the pool, the weather and espeially the open top Amigo bus which picked you up everyday at 10:20 and dropped you off at your choice of hotel-within their group-which were all fantastic, we ate their, had drinks, whatever you wanted, its just amazing, we loved the Magic Rock Gardens we ate there 3 times and are goin back next year to stay, then go and visit monika and see all our friends again. The whole experience of the Amigo hotels is amazing, and the Magic Monica has by far got the best pool, which has 2 life guards on all day, all the restaurants are brill, I'd recommend Magic to anyone!!
all the childrens
We visited the Monika on the 31st august 2004 for 7 nights on arrival we were greeted and treated very well the rooms was quite basic but clean and tidy. Our rooms looked down on to the pool which was the best pool we have seen in spain and the friends we went with also was impressed the restaurant was very big and the choice of food was very good but we found it very hot in there with the air con not working very good, the bars were very good and the drinks were plentyfull but we thought that the beer was quite weak and you had to have half a glass of spirits to taste them, there was a free cocktail on each day but again not a lot of taste to them but ok in general but the biggist dissapointment was the entertainment if you had childrens as the dj use to call them you was very happy but there was nothing for the adults and to top it all off one of the nights the local police arrived and shut the music off because someone in the hotel complained about the noise and with the entertainment been rubbish the location of the hotel become apparant becauseit was outside Benidorm and although you could get a bus in a taxi cost about £8 to get back so you could'nt do that all the time and pay for your drinks on top of that. We did enjoy our holiday there but small things let it down and if they addressed them it would be a perfect hotel.
Ok
If you like sharing your hotel with tattoo`d english football top wearing individuals this is the place for you. Was like staying in an episode of eastenders!!! However the hotel, though basic, was clean and was handy for the beach.
