Violatos were excellent, so clean and a good location away from the road where the traffic can be heavy. I mean "heavy", cement mixers, hgvs and other vehicles.
This happens when the ferry docks at Sami, afterwards the place is quiet. The village itself is compact.
The Violatos are situated in a pretty residential area 5-10 mins walk from the tavernas.
We had a good welcome meeting with rep Sue, who had only arrived on Kefalonia the week previous, but was full of information on Aghia Efimia and the surrounding area.
Sue was based at the Violatos so any problems were quickly sorted. Just a knock on the door and she would oblige, once she was out of the shower. Hot water all day.
The tavernas were good, Pergola especially. Captain Corellis did a fine breakfast and the staff were friendly. Makis was excellent for a long lunch.
We visited Ithica, which was a delightful day.
I would recommend the Violatas especially the rooms at the rear, which have a view of the mountains.
Our room had a view of the owners van, which started up at 7.30 every morning. I was awake anyway, ready for another lovely day in Aghia Efimia.
We will definitely return to Aghia Efimia in the near future.

Have just returned from Violatos Agia Efimia. Apartments good value for money as only 2.5*. You are getting what you pay for as cheap compared to hotels in the area. Clean and daily service good .Sheets changed once during the week . A little low on maintenance but if you report it, it will be dealt with. 2 balconies , one front ,one back. Had not been s/c for years and found provisions in all three supermarkets in Agia Efimia expensive ie 1/2lb butter 3.35 euro. Vegs lovely. We ate out all the week (our choice)and found it expensive for the quality .Efimia absolutley beautiful and unspoilt by tourism.Crystal turquoise sea. Bus service very poor (end of May).Bus goes at 7 30in the morning and always a ? when/if it returns at all so be prepared to get a taxi. Taxis reasonable . Olympia reps live on site and are great. Assos and lakes/caves worth a visit.Boat trip for the day a must (36euros each).Sami is just okay a bit scruffy. About 12 tavernas in A/Efimia around a horseshoe harbour. Paradise Beach taverna right round the bay the best we found and also a new family business at the bottom of the road from Violatos which doesnt look much , plenty of local Greeks in it .The chicken Souvlaki was the best in the bay and the most reasonable price. It is called "The Local"Stays open very late and will do a takeaway if you arrive after 11pm as we did. Some nice Greek music nights in other Tavernas .Not big beaches ie small coves but fine for May/June.Pure White stones dont be fooled by the brochure pics as it looks like white sand. Would def not want to be in Agia Efimia in August as it is quite small. Lots of yachts come in to the area. A lovely holiday but ended quite expensive(due to provisions and eating out) for what we thought would be quite a cheap quick week away.I dont think any of the hotels and they are few do half board or incl. You can use the pool and facilities at the Odyssey hotel which is beautiful.
