It is a great shame that these lovely apartmwents employ the youngish bar man. He like to get drunk and party loudly with some of the holiday makersand keep the rest of the apartments awake until 3,00am and after, Loud music, loud voices and glasses thrown into the pool... more

The apartments were as expected for a self catering holiday in Greece. They were clean and tidy and well maintained by the cleaning staff. The pool bar and pool were more than adequate and the beach was just a short walk from the apartments. Heard some people complaining... more

in reply to all the other reviews i found the apartments very clean and had everythink i needed what do you expect for a couple of hundred qid royalty . !!!people complaing about the bar man what do you expect would you be cooking food in a hot stuffy kitchen in a hot place like that and it was end of season so y have staff you dont need and there was a cleaner !!just because they live a differnt life you all judge (its not the uk)!! you dont go on holiday to cook you go awy to get away from it!!! our bins where changed every day new...

As it is the end of the season now in Greece there wont be anyone else in the shoes we were in. Prior to departing for our holiday at the end of September, we read the terrible reviews for Penelope and wondered what we were doing, on talking with Olympic, we (a party of 7) decided that we should go as they assured us the the accomodation was OK and as advertised. I couldn't agree more with the last five or so reviews of these apartments! I have never seen anything like this before, except for on 'Holidays from Hell'!!! :O) Penelope Apartments have got to be the most disgusting, uncared for apartments in the whole Crete, maybe the whole of Greece! Why do Olympic use these dirty apartments

I have just returned from the Penolope apts and would like to inform people that they are very very dirty - they need to be closed down. They are run by one young man, who his the barman, the receptionist, the cleaner and the administrator. The place smells, the toilets are blocked, ants are everywhere and the so called kitchens are unfit to preparte food.

Firstly if this is 3* accommodation then i'm Kylie Minogue! I have never seen such filth and squalor in my entire life. My room was 108 which was dark dingy and filthy. I attempted to let some light in by opening the curtains but they fell down, the sheets were bloodstained, towells also stained, toliet seat was broken and would not stay up and the bathroom drain was full of dirt and hair and the stench was unbearable, crockery and cutlery was limited and filthy, cobwebs hung from the ceilings & walls. Worst holiday ever!!!

We have just returned from the worst holiday ever at the Penelope apartments, Stalis. there was no air conditioning, we had to make do with a small fan that kept breaking down. These apartments were gloomy and extremely dirty. We hardly ever saw the owner probably because everybody staying there had a complaint about the cleanliness of the apartment. I would like to echo the views of the reviewer from Manchester. We have thoroughly enjoyed 2 holidays at Penelope Apartments, Stalis, once in 1999 and once last year. As a relaxing base for a family holiday, I can think of nowhere better. You don't get any great luxury, the furnishings are simple, but the apartments are huge and the surrounding areas - the gardens, the pool - a delight. The family that owns and runs the complex provide a first-rate welcome and friendly atmosphere. Stalis, itself, is for me the perfect resort...
