We would never return to Konnos Bay Hotel

We told directline holidays that we had 2 birthdays and 1 anniversary whilst staying at konnos. The anniversary was on my birthday, so all 3 together within 2 days. When we arrived no one knew anything about it. They also told me they might give us a good room with a view. The room was across the road, there was a view of the sea in the distant and we agreed that it was ok. When i approached the rep april and told her that we had 3 celebrations whilst there she did not do anything about it. A bottle of wine would have been a start. I had a word with one of the receptionists and she said to speak to the restaurant, which we did. Nothing happened and on my wifes birthday no table set up, however she did get a small piece of cake with a candle on it, i did not!. On my birthday and our anniversary same day. Nothing again but i did receive 2 sweets at the end of the evening. The grandson of the owner told the bar man to give me an ouzo and my wife a coctail on the house, when i came to pay approx 48 euros,i asked why was i charged for the cocktail, he replied that he was only told to give me an ouzo!. At this i lost my temper and never ate there again, having spent approx. 300euros whilst there. The owner was ok to your face but he was rude at other times, if someone was serving he would interupt as though we were not there. Not bad for a paying customer!.
we did manage to enjoy the hols other than that, even though on 2 nights we only got 1 hours sleep due to a party which went on until 6am, and a knock at our door at 2am another night. The staff were friendly esp. Cornell from romania. On the last night we managed to find a bar kafkaros at the bottom of the hill, what a difference in customer care. Free olives etc, and a brandy for me and a licquer for the wife at the end of the meal.all this and they did not know of our celebrations. It surely made up for it. yours a very disgruntled customer

Second Visit

I'm just back from these apartments and have to say that for the money they are really good. I am a very fussy pensioner who was meeting some friends out there. The room was very clean with the cleaner coming in every day except one. Clean towels were left when needed. Could do with a Tea Towel but would take one the next time I go. Bed linen was changed during the week. Staff are very pleasant including the owner who gave us a good welcome as he did last year. My friends hired a car so we were able to get around but the bus stops just outside the hotel which is a good help if you can't afford a car. I had a sea view from my balcony which was lovely and from the grounds of the hotel the view overlooking the bay is beautiful. I travel regularly to different holiday places but this is the nicest and most natural scenary I have come across.

Me and my Girlfriend booked the trip around four weeks before our departure date after being told by the sales rep that it had some good reviews. We were not let down! The staff were very helpful, speaking very good english and were keen on making our holiday enjoyable. The location was brilliant. It took around 5 mins at the most to get to the beach although it was a steep walk back up the steps. The beach was clean, white sand, and clear waters. It was quite popular with the locals aswell which means you have to get down there early. The restuarant had a very good selection of food including burger and chips, fish, meat, pizza, salads etc and for fairly reasonable prices. The rooms had basic cooking equiptment but the cleanliness wasnt great which put us off using it. We prob saw the cleaners 3 times during the week which didnt bother the ants on the balcony who were determined to find a way in. The hotel had a nice little supermarket next door which sold everything you would need. The pool area was well kept and catered for sun worshipers and anyone that wanted to get away from it. the max depth was 1.50m but had a shallow end for the younger ones. this was right next to the restaurant so if you wanted a break for food you could do. Protaras and Ayia Napa where about 10 mins away on the bus which stopped outside and cost 2 euros for a day pass so was pefect for a more lively night. Overall a really nice holiday and a nice hotel and location! Would definately go again

The Konnos bay hotel offered pretty much what you need for your holiday. Nothing more.
The rooms themselves are ok and cleaned daily, unfortunetly as our room was across the road, we got a view of....nothing.
The resteraunt staff do their job to a certain degree but didnt seem to go out of their way to help much. I cant really blame them as they're made to were t-shirts and trousers in 40+degree heat, so the odd drop of sweat may be found in your burger and chips.
Breaking a smile must be incredibly painful, cos they dont do it. We found this however to be just the way the people of Cyprus are though as we went out to the surrounding areas: Protaras and Ayia Napa
The resteraunt staff can be quite entertaining though as plates go flying through the air when trying to stack 20 ontop on each other when clearing a table. Its just annoying when they come in your direction though. But you'll get some complementary manky fruit from it.
As a whole we did actually enjoy our holiday cos we didnt spend that much time at the hotel. The beach is amazing and was one of the highlights of the holiday.

My boyfriend and I visited Cyprus Sep 2009. The location was really nice, although we spent a lot of time going into Ayia Napa (as there arent any bars/places to eat near this hotel).
We didnt realise we would be based over the other side of the road to the actual hotel pictured and we were quite disappointed by that but still had a good sea view.
Pool area is nice, bar staff were nice apart from the woman who's a bit sarcastic.
We had ants in our room but they sent someone over to spray them to death and just left them there for us to scoop out the door ourselves (no broom).
Rooms were very hot at night so we would leave the balcony door open and cleaners come in about 10am in the morning.
Overall it was an ok hotel, but if you're in your 20's and you like a bit of entertainment in the evening, either hire a car, or stay in Ayia Napa :)

My friend and I booked Konnas Bay never having been to that part of Cyprus before. The scenery was breathtaking ~ the walk up from the beach was breathtaking too but totally worth it!
The staff were very friendly and the owner was welcoming, he knew everyone staying there and met us with a smile and a few kind words each day.
The bar staff worked hard and were well respected by all guests. The rooms were typically greek / Cypriot. Immaculate with linen changed every second day.
We booked self-catering to enable us to float from taverna to taverna. However we found the restaurant within the hotel was the best we could find within the locale.
We did take the local bus into Potaris and Ayia Napa for meals.
Potaris was not our cup of tea, sports Bars galore, we prefer the more traditional Cypriot setting.
Ayia Napa was much more than we expected, it was clean with a metropolitan atmosphere, many beautiful restaurants and bars at reasonable prices. Around £15 for three courses.
We are looking forward to returning to our little bit of heaven next year!

Konnos Bay is a beautiful location its really quiet with picturesque scenery. We found all the staff to be very friendly, I didnt see any cockaroaches but on the last night I saw a tarantula which at first I thought was a crab that freaked me out a bit. The local people are really nice and informative and they dont hassle you which is great. If you want somewhere lively you can take the bus to proaras or Ayia Napa for 150. The beaches are great, the one opposite Konnos bay apartments is quite steep but it will work off any indulgence from the night before. I dont think there is anything to moan about except the supermarkets are so expensive. If you want a quiet break go to Konnos Bay coz you will feel totally relaxed.

The actual Konnos Bay beach was superb. The climate great but i would not return to the Konnos Bay Hotel. The manager was miserable and seemed to favour Cypriots. We were even moved one evening from our seats in the restraunt to cater for his friends.
Unfortunately, we lost some money in the restraunt area one day. Staff were not that helpful and not forthcoming how to report to the police.
Accomodation was basic as expected but was in need of some refurbishment.
The most helpful and cheerful staff member was the cleaner in our apartment block.
I would return to the area but not this one.

The best thing about Konnos bay is that of its namesake, the beach below the hotel is beautiful, clean, umbrella hire is cheap, and the sea view can be enjoyed from most of the rooms.
The rooms are clean with a small fridge and stove and flatscreen wall mounted tv, showing bbc world news and a couple of english movie channels. Rooms were serviced every other day.
Reception staff were ok but the restaurant staff were painfully mean.
Air conditioning is a cyprus wide (so we were told) cost of 6 euros per night. Do what we did, pay for one and see how long it lasts for, we only ended up paying for two nights in the end! (Out of a weeks stay!)
Breakfast left alot to be desired, I would say personally do not bother.if you have bed and breakfast included you will need to pay 80cents for the english breakfast, or be forced to endure the continental breakfast for your entire stay.
Oh and the orange juice is watered down terribly.
However there is a happy hour every night except friday, 2 euros for a pint of a beer but there is another brilliant bar just down the road next to the five star grecian hotel next door. Where your money is better spent.
All in all a great holiday if you can avoid dealing with the hotel staff.

me and my boyfriend stayed here for a week and absolutely loved every minute of it. the hotel is basic but in my opinion clean with everything you need, we were s/c but didn't cook any food in the apartment as we always ate out, the cooking equipment seemed fine to me though! the views from the hotel are stunning, we were lucky enough to have a sea view room.we didnt have and problems with bugs only a little cute lizard that came into our room! because of the location of the hotel, youve got to expect it and its not beacuse the apartments are dirty.
the beach is amazing.we felt as though were somewhere so much more exotic then the med! the sea is so clear and shallow and the sand gorgeous too! the steps down were a bit mad, and in the heat it was a bit of a nightmare coming back up but totally worth it for use of the beautiful beach.just make sure you have got everything you need with you for the day before you go down! back up is a long, hot way! there is a really nice cafe/bar down at the beach which sell great snacks and drinks.
the food and drink in the hotel was really nice, a tad expenxsive but isn't everywhere nowaday's?! my only moan is that the bar service was a bit slow, the staff weren't the friendlest but that didn't phase us, who blames them working in that heat!! and there wasn't always enough sunbeds so we had to resort getting up early to put towels out!the pool was fine and clean. the hotels cypriot bbq night was a good laugh, good tradtional dancing and lovely food.
Protaras is a 10min bus ride away, buses always turned up at the time thay were supposed to(think its every half hour). protaras is lively with many bars and places to eat we enjoyed going there a couple of nights, the beer 'keo' is lovely! the local food 'meze' is lovely too, a bit similar to spanish tapas were you get loads of different dishes.
i think konnos bay apartments is best for couples or families wanting to chill, if your looking for a mad, party holiday staying in actutal protaras or ayia napa would be more suitable.
overall we had a fab relaxing holiday, the location is what makes the apartments so amazing, we would defo go back again, infact wish we were there now!
