Kotzias Apartments

The first thing to say is that it is not a hotel. It's a collection of two & three storey buildings with a pool. When we arrived the rep (we went with Olympic holidays) had to ring the owner to meet us with the room key as there is no reception or any communal building. There is a pool bar that is open during the day but otherwise your apartment is all there is.
The apartment we had was a two bedroom one in one of the old buildings and it was dated. There was air condidtioning but we could only have that if we paid 10 euros per day - we declined but took up the offer of the safety deposit box in the apartment at 15 euros for the week. The owner also offered us a car rental at 25 euros per day but as this wasn't an official hire car (he suggested we explain that he had loaned us the car if there were any problems), we decided to get one elsewhere. The apartment was supposed to have been cleaned but in reality the floor was quite dirty and although probably swept, it didn't look as though it had seen any detergent for quite some time. However when we mentioned this to the rep, she took it upwith the owner who got the cleaner back in - but again it looked like a quick mop over rather than a proper clean. The apartment was serviced every day (beds tidied, floor swept etc)except Sunday and the provided towels were changed once while we were there. There were four adults sharing this apartment and unfortunately the toilet took approx 10 minutes to refill after a flush which is really unacceptable. The owner said it was due to being filled from a tank - my opinion is that it was due to old corroded plumbing. In the end, we resorted to having a pan by the cistern that we used to manually fill up the cistern after use.
The position of the apartment block is however very good (if you want to stay in Pissouri Bay) and provided you don't finish up in one of the older apartments and you don't mind paying the extra 10 euros per day for air conditioning, you might find it OK. If you are an independant traveller it would be worth your while to ensure you are being allocated one of the newer apartments before you commit to the booking.
One other point about the area itself is that unless you are content to lounge by the pool or on the beach every day, car hire is an absolute must as there is no public transport servicing the area and taxis are quite expensive - 10 euros into the nearest village (Pissouri) about 3 km away. There are however a number of restaurants within a few minutes walk - they all offer pretty much the same menu and price - typically about 15 to 20 euros per head for a main meal and drink.

Well located in the quiet Pissouri Bay.
Studios for 2 are a bit tight on space, but well equiped, apartments offered far more space and appeared to be worth a small extra cost, the pool area is excellent, and well maintained.
Car hire is a must, Pissouri Bay ( Jetty ) is compact, with tavenas, taxis, and supermarkets making the best of their monpoly, a short trip to Pissouri Village offers a greater choice, has more atmosphere, and of course is cheaper.
Pissouri Village is a 2.5miles walk up a steep hill, it can be walked in under 1 hour, but it is hard work and you will end up all hot and bothered, a taxi is 10 Euro's each way, hence car hire being ideal.
Worth a try is the Platanista Tavern this small taverna is around 9 miles from Pissouri Bay in the hamlet of Platanista, it is best described as rustic in appearance, however the food is very good, and reasonable, with excellent service, get there before 7.30pm if you want to beat the Ex Pat comunity and get the best seats with some excellent elevated views towards Pissouri.
All things considered, a fine resort for those seeking a quiet break, or as a central base for those who can drive and wish to explore the island, not a place that any self respecting teenager would find to their liking.
We had a good holiday, and would certainly consider a return visit at some point in the future.

Stayed At The Kotzias Apartmets For One Week The Apartments Are Of A High Standard And The Owners Are On Site Daily To Sort Out Any Problems.
The Area Is Quite And Was Ideal For Chill Out Holiday.
Would Recommed These Apartments Only Concern Was Payment For Air Condition Was Extra And You Have To Pay For Both Units (ie Bedroom And Living Room)The Charge Was 3.5 Euros Per Unit Per Day About £40.00 Per Week.Safety Deposit Box Charge Was
15 Euros Per Week About £12.20.
Pleny Of Places To Eat But Not Cheap. The Apartments Are Within Site Of The Beach And The Village Of Pissouri Is About 2.5 Miles Away Up What Could Only Be Described As A Steep Hill.We Walked It One Day 45 Minutes Each Way.Overall Great Holiday In A Beautiful Area. We Will Be Going Back Again.

Been going to Kotzias Hotel Apartments for 22 years (I think that probably says it all) and we have never been disappointed. We have stayed in the original apartments about 17 times and in the new apartments for the first time 2007. They are all spotlessly clean and huge. All the apartments have air conditioning which is charged separately and reasonably. Some of the original apartments have gorgeous sea views and others are set around the lovingly tended gardens of which Evros (the guy who owns the apartments) is rightfully very proud (you will no doubt see him mowing and watering the lawns himself. There is a lovely snack bar by the pool where a good variety of snacks are freshly prepared and served along with choice of drinks (brandy sour is my favorite). Evros is in his small sea view office every day should you need him and nothing is too much trouble. He is very laid back and is always happy to help. The pool is great and there are plenty of sunbeds all free. Its close to lots of tavernas and restaurants where everyone is very friendly and its only a 5 minute drive to Pissouri Village which is a must see. There are various well stocked shops and supermarkets literally over the road. Everything you could possibly need for a well deserved break away from the hustle and bustle is just a stones throw away, but if you fancy a bit more night life etc then a trip to Paphos is only about 20 minutes car ride away. We are now looking forward to our next wonderful relaxing holiday at Kotzias, hope to see you there.
