Having read the reviews from others based on Tasiana Complex, I was quite surprised by what the 'bad' reviews stated, as the only problem I had was crickets getting into the room at night when the doors where slightly open due to the lights being on by my balcony - when I informed a member of staff, he arranged for the lights to be on at Tasiana 1 instead, which stopped the crickets coming into the room :)
My friends, my 2 children and a friends son stayed at the Tasiana Star last October (2007). My 2 children and I stayed in an apartment overlooking the pool, and Tasiana 1 - I had a gorgeous view of the hills to the right of the building.
We arrived at approximately 18:00hours if not slightly earlier, the transfer was good, the rep was helpful and patient. The room was really basic, which to me as I would not be staying there all day every day, was ideal - they were clean, there was a bath and a shower so was convenient for giving my son a bath as he didn't like showers.
Unlike most of the people who have made reviews on here, I actually found the staff to be really nice, friendly and helpful. The Cypriot night was a good way to meet other guests as our party spent all day away from the hotel and had our meals in the local bars/restaurants. The floors probably need to be made into anti slip flooring but other than that it was a really nice hotel.
For those wanting to go to Limassol for a family holiday I would highly recommend it - the restaurants and bars cater for children of any age - Toscana's is really good, the staff are really friendly and the food was reasonably priced (although that was before the cypriot pound changed to euro's). There are plenty of excursions to go on - but I wouldn't go with the rep of your tour operator as they tend to me more costly than the ones provided by local companies - speak to the staff as they will recommend a local firm. One place you must go to see is Lefkara - they have really nice lace and silver jewellery for sale as well as gorgeous scenery en route. I wished I'd done more sight seeing than spending the days on the beach with my friends as there is so much historical sights to be seen in Cyprus. One thing I would recommend if your able to, instead of getting the bus to or back from Limassol Old Town, walk along the sea front - I did it pushing a pram with loads of bags but I didn't really notice that I had walked for over 1hr as it felt so nice walking in the hot sunshine taking in the view across the sea etc..
This holiday made a mark on me - literally - becareful of the wild cats, I tried to stop my daughter being clawed by one but ended up with a bad cut across my wrist from it and now am scarred for life from it.
I will be going back again to the same hotel next year with my parents this time and for 14days instead of 7days as I enjoyed it so much the first time around :)

I arrived in the middle of the night not such a good start especially as I had made my own way from the airport via coach (7 euros) from Larnaca airport and then taxi (10 euros) from coach stop (other side of Limassol).. Only to find my apartment was not at the Tsiana Star but at the Marianna apt block. The room was like a furnace and I was shocked to find out the air con was extra (8 euros a night) and the night porter couldn't put it on as the owner had taken out the fuse and he was asleep in bed and unable to help. So the kind night porter lent me a fan that night so at least I'd be able to sleep. I think he felt sorry for me as I was exhausted.
Anyway after the initial shock I kinda got used to the small apartment which was clean very BASIC but it is not star rated like the hotel and you get what you pay for. The best part was the shower it was fast and water was on all the time! I didn't bother with the aircon as it just makes you feel twice as hot when you go out into the searing heat in August and I had a wonderful lime tree outside my balcony which I helped myself too and squeezed them into cold mineral water every morning to freshen me up!
All in all Tasiana is very much what you pay for, I'm glad I was away from the main pool complex as they have the music booming out around the pool all day long and that would have driven me round the bend and also if you are away from the pool and bar the owners kinda leave you alone.
Plus points are the very nice people in the local restaurants, my recommendation is the mexican El Peublo opp the Apollina Hotel up a little side road. Also there is a little kebab place round the corner from the apartments called Stevis and they do the nicest doner kebabs!
I have visited Paphos, Larnaca and Limassol and all are about the same, however I have vowed never to do Cyprus again in August as it's just not enjoyable way way way too hot. Even the locals say it's to hot.
Oh by the way Costas who is Tsiana's son owns the car rental place is a gem, very nice guy and he sorted out a man to drop me at the coach station on my return for free so it's not all bad there, honest..
Last thing, pool bar is expensive, 2.50 euros for a coke, go to the supermarket and stock up there only 85 cents....
Now this really is the last thing, I went on my own which was quite liberating and challengng, but if you're feeling confident you can actually go into a different hotel complex each day and lounge around their pool and no one bats an eyelid as long as you don't make a nuisance of yourself and just want to chill out in a 5 star environment for the day....

Having read all the reviews on "Trip adviser" i honestly thought we were going for 1 week of hell in the Tasiana, but it wasnt as bad as its been made out.
We (3 girls aged 29) stayed in the Tasiana Star, room 113 and it was fine. It was a one bedroom apartment with plenty of room and as i wouldnt be going to make a 3 course meal in the kitchen it had the necessary utensils that we needed, the beds and towels were changed every other day, yes they werent matching towels but they were clean. The bin was emptied every day and the floor swept and mopped. We got a safetey deposit box and air con, the safety deposit box could not be lifted or moved out of the wardrobe and the air con was well worth the money. We left it on all day and night and the whole apartment was nice and cool.
The pool area was ok but it could've been nicer, the pool needed a good scrub around the edge and as there are a lot of trees and flowers around the pool they do tend to blow into it, the loungers are fine some are a bit old looking but they do the job, remember this place is 2*+ at the end of the day. The pool bar was expensive but to walk down to the shop every time you wanted a drink or something to eat would have been a nightmare, there is a big sign at the pool stating you arent allowed to bring your own food or drink but we did and nobody every said anything to us.
As for the old man and women who ran the place, yes she was grumpy at times but only because people were diving into the pool (there is a sign saying no diving) soaking everyone and causing a nuisance. The pool did close at 6pm (this was stated on a sign as well) this was disappointing as it was still hot and sunny, but she would get cross and turn the hose on you if you didnt leave the pool at 6pm, but then again some people did go out of their way to get into it at 5.55 just to annoy her. The pool did get taken over most afternoons with the Rusian kids but you just learned to ignore them.
In all our stay at the Tasiana was fine, but i have to say that Limasoll is not the place to go to for a young and lively, couple or family holiday there is NOTHING to do in it, all the bars are full of Greeks and not very friendly Greeks at that, the only place i would recomend to go to is "STEP INN" the irish bar, it had Karoke and the nightclub opens at 1.30 downstairs which plays all sorts of cheesy pop (Friday nights is rave music if you like that kinda thing).
We saw our rep once in the week we stayed and when i asked her what there was to do in the Resort she informed me that Limasoll is a City!! Thats not what the Olympic brochure says, she told us about how we could go to Ayia Napa for the night it cost us 52 euros for the 3 of us for 1 night, she told us it would cost us 3 euros on a bus and we'd have to change over in Larnaca in the end it cost us 20 euros each return we had to wait an hour on a bus in Larnaca to Ayia Napa and it took us 8 hours return trip in the sweltering heat! Not advisable, Ayia Napa is a mad place and we enjoyed it but not worth the hassle.
I hope this is of some help to anyone booked to go to the Tasiana, you just have to make the most of it yourself!!
Happy Holidays :)

The worst place we have ever stayed in the whole complex was discusting, unfortunately we were in a Studio with no balcony just a sliding door, the outside lights were plugged into our socket wich meant we could not lock the door. we had no lights but was given 1 light bulb, no bath towels, kettle, toaster, cooker did not work, 2days no water, cock roaches every where, cats in room, 3 coat hangers in wardrobe, room full of cobwebs (i have photos) No one on duty at 24hr reception had to find our own key (any one could walk in a take keys to rooms) a couple of times we a had a night watchman (asleep on couch) We asked owner to move us to another room she wanted to charge us 100euros which we refused, she then told us to get out and go(my husbad is 70yrs old and myself 67.
Please do not go to the Tasiana (all the guest called it shitsiana)

Would not go back here! We got there and the man in the reception was sleeping! When he finally woke up he gave us a key and showed us to where we were staying.. that was some walk with our suit cases! Me and my friend had the room downstairs so that was no trouble.. but the rest of the families rooms where upstairs.. they had to carry their suitcases up 2 flights of stairs! No lift! We had no privacy at all.. Tasiana kept coming in to our apartments to have a nosey.. thinking that we where not in!.. We had paid for our air conditioning.. which you would definitely need!.. But Tasiana kept turning it off on us! We were not happy about that at all! .. There was hardly any entertainment.. so we always went to the Castle Apartments down the road (where we went the year before and loved it but couldn't get it again) for our needs! At the end of the two weeks.. my mother had told Tasiana about all the bad reviews about her apartments and that we would not be back here again!

Olympic did a good job with transport, and disappointingly this was the most enjoyable part of the holiday, we were really looking forward to the return bus to the airport. The majority of our time in Cyprus (8am-6pm) was spent outside of the apartment and with good reason.
The owners of the hotel were the most abrasive people we have ever met. Occasionally seen skulking in corners of the hotel they were present only to monitor your activity and literally throw a tantrum if you did something they disliked. By disliked this includes entering the pool after 5pm, playing pool in the common area after 10pm, moving chairs to other tables in the common area, eating food in the common area. There is no indication that these activities are prohibited and were met with aggressive and explosive reactions from the owners. For dining in the common room we were charged 100 euros after a considerable abuse from the elderly female owner. On another occasion we were chased a screaming elderly male owner whom threatened us with violence if he heard another door close.
Their hospitality extended to stealing guest's towels, clothes and other personal effects. When asked to return stolen property there was either denial followed by mysterious reappearance of the items or in many cases the items never appeared again.
The rooms were relatively well kept by cleaners despite this. However room service was typically emptying a bin, picking up towels and realigning sheets on the bed. The pool was well kept however debris from the nearby building works and other material (coins etc) didn't leave the floor of the pool in the two week stay. Oh, and according to the elderly male owner somebody died of chlorine poisoning the previous year. The leisure facilities were all consistent with the 80s and much of the hotel was in disrepair. It was puzzling that rather than improve their service, facilities or manner they are currently building an annex complex facing the main building.
The local area of Limassol is poor and oversaturated with discontented cypriots who are desperate for business after the long drought of cash that winter brings. From experience stick to the local butchers and bakers they are very reasonably priced and were the only people to actually smile and appreciate our custom. Especially try out Zorbas bakery next to the abandoned pizza express, try the bakery pizza and you'll see why they left!
I hope this has helped, please seriously consider this place, I would hate to think another person would have to write a review like this.

We have stayed at this hotel in 2006 & 20007 and have booked to go back in 2008.
You do get what you pay for but there is a pool, welcoming staff, pool bar, great food, shops and clubds only a short walk away. i'd definately recommend this hotel and will be booking to go back in 2009!

Me and my best friend went there for a cheap week in October 2007 (s/c). We had read some dreadful reviews but some good ones too. We were dubious about booking but went for it anyway!
The accommodation was large, good size kitchen, seperate lounge/dining area, balcony area, very large bedroom area, small and basic bathroom however the shower was great.
The accommodation, was basic but very clean. Towels and bedding were changed regularly. The only problem we had was 'ants' but this is nature not the hotel. We just blocked their entrance way and the problem was sorted.
Very friendly owner/receptionist and staff.
Pool was a little grotty and this was located at their sister hotel, but the beach(es) were just a short distance away. Location was extremely convenient for restaurants, shops, beach etc.
Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to get away for a good price!

Before going on our holiday to Cyprus to the Tasiana Star Complex, we had read some very negative reviews and were expecting the worst from our accomodation. We had even attempted to change our hotel, this was how bad the reviews were. However, we have been very pleased with what we got and can only say one thing, you get what you pay for. It was a last minute deal and it was fairly cheap. We arrived late at night and were made to feel very welcome by the owner of the complex, Tasiana (that's her name!).
The room was very basic but had all the amenities needed for a self catering holiday. The beds were comfy and the spacious living area could not be faulted. The kitchen was well equpped for the cooking and eating done in the apartment. The apartments were clean, which was all that really mattered.
As our holiday went on, we started to see minor faults with the complex. The pool side wasn't very clean and there was filth in the ledges of the pool so you had to be careful entering and getting out of the pool. The ladders into the pool weren't very stable either. We were also disappointed that our hotel bath towels were not changed at all during our stay, meaning we had to go out of our way to ensure they were as clean as can be and dry for the next night we needed them. Which also meant sharing towels, not the most hygienic thing to do, especially in such heat.
In a 2 week stay, not once did we see any reception staff which made it difficult to ask about any problems we had, like our toilet wouldn't flush. However eventually maintenance staff came out and had to repair our toilet 3 times!
Bar staff were very friendly and helpful and the food and drinks by the pool were very nice!

After reading the other reviews for the Tasiana Apartments, I was quite anxious about our holiday. There are four small complexes within Tasiana and the Star was definitely the best! On arrival we were taken to our apartments by bus which was about 50 minutes drive away, the rep gave us plenty of information about the resort.
Arriving at the apartment we were welcomed by one of the friendly hotel staff, Riad, who escorted us to our room and informed us of the meeting the next day. Our room was clean and surprisingly different to the reviews which we had read. We had a pool view, the pool on the first few days wasn't the cleanest but that changed after a few others mentioned it to the staff.
The apartment was 2 minutes walk from the main strip, where there are a large number of bars and restaurants all keen to get you in for a meal! The apartment bar provides a good selection of food during the day and the family atmosphere was very welcoming. Our only complaint was that the laundry could have been changed more frequently but we discovered that if you simply asked for fresh linen you were given some.
The air conditioning was also a bit pricey and didn't work very well, only providing air conditioning in one room (when it worked!), but we were there at peak time so the heat was unbearable anyway. The apartments are best suited for young and older couples and people with small families who are looking for a relaxing break.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Tasiana Star and would go back again.
