Fantastic location and good value (for Courchevel at least!)
Stayed at the Courcheneige in March 2008 and thoroughly recommend it. If you don't know Courchevel then you're probably wondering why it's so expensive for a 2 star hotel - by the standards of most towns it's at least a 3 star, and if you look at the prices of the 3 and 4 star hotels in Courchevel in the same area you'll realise it's a bit of a bargain. The location - unbeatable for keen skiers. The hotel is situated right on the Bellecote piste, so it's very easy to ski in and out. There is a shuttle bus back to the hotel from 1850... more
Nice Hotel in a Wonderful Location
We stayed at the hotel over New Year's and had a wonderful time. The ski in ski out location was wonderful. The common areas of the hotel were comfortable and welcoming. A great place to relax and look out to the mountains. The rooms were basic but nice/clean. The beds were very comfortable. The ski shop in the hotel was very good with excellent access right to the slopes. It made it so easy to get the children up and on the slopes! The breakfasts and desserts were very nice. A very very nice 2 star hotel.
Still great location - improved service and decor
We were regular visitors up until a few years ago during the previous ownership but somewhat hesitant about returning after reading the first of these reviews. I am pleased to say that our experience was exceptionally good. The location remains unbeatable for skiing and quiet for those looking to get away from noise and bright lights! The food is simple but very good with a set menu in the evenings and the opportunity to have an alternative if the main course is not to your liking. Many improvements have been made to the decor... more
Fawlty Towers
The only good thing about this hotel was its superb location - ski in and ski out. Other than the location, there is little to recommend this hotel. A hotel manager who would give Basil Fawlty a run for his money, rude and unhelpful staff and truly disgusting food. It didn't help that our stay was during the last week of the season, but when the hotel receptionist refused to find us more toilet paper one day, we all knew that the staff had had enough! We were a party of 4 families and were able to laugh through the disasters but please,... more
Small and poorly decorated rooms
The hotel's spot is excellent for skiing in and out. The staff is very friendly and kind as well. But the rooms are simply terrible with no space to move around and very poor equipment (small TV with very few channels mostly in French). The food is a minus as well, especially if you are on a half-board basis. The breakfast finishes too early and there is no room service. The ski rental shop in the hotel is something positive. In general and for the price we paid for New Year holidays (around 400 euro per room per night) the hotel is simply... more
Great Hotel, Great Location, Superb Food
This is allegedly a 2 star hotel. IT ISN'T !!!!!!! it is more like 4 star The courcheneige is closer to a 4 star hotel in everything except the condition of some of the furniture in the rooms which is slightly dated. The Good: - The rooms are clean and warm - The beds are firm but not too firm - The staff are fabulous, kind, helpful, efficient and polite - The food is basically a set meal each night, but this is excellently presented, beautifully cooked and delivered without extended waiting. The breakfast... more
Thank Goodness – The Passing of an era is followed by a new great team !
We stayed at the hotel early January and we have been at the hotel for the last 6 years over the same period. We really enjoyed our stay as usual and Robert the new manager really is a professional making everyone feel welcome (along with the rest of the team) and nothing is to much trouble. We did feel the quality of the food and service was as good or better. The crew working in the hotel where very very pleasant and helpful. The ski shop was such an improvement – nice new racks and heated boot racks (what a change) and the... more
Passing of an era
Sadly the Heulley Family are no longer in charge. It remains a brilliant location, but will never be the same again.
Fantastic value for money
Probably one of the best value ski in - ski out hotels in the Alps. Great location, friendly, helpful staff, reasonable prices and the food is very good. Lunch time menus are exceptional value for money and when the sun is out and the terrace is open..fabulous. The hotel attracts a real mix of people and many of them (like us) go back year after year. The only downside is that its way up the hill and the night life is at the bottom of the hill...so what! Some of the rooms are on the small side but they are totally functional... more
