Hilton Garden Inn Queens Hotel

I have not stayed any other airport hotel around JFK, so I must conclude that the other ones must be bad. Room was clean and quiet, so if you don't have to spend any time elsewhere or deal with the staff, this is a fine hotel for a night. Restaurant was terrible with brain dead staff. People at the front desk prefered to socialize in the back room, and were really annoyed when interrupted, for check-in, or assistance.

We stayed at the HIlton Garden Inn JFk on 4/23/05 because we had an early flight the next morning. The room itself was clean and efficient and the staff friendly. HOWEVER, we were not told that the shuttle at the airport only comes every half hour to pick you up. When we called on the courtesy phone, we were told that it would be here in 5 minutes. Half an hour later, it arrived (with numerous other people waiting as well). The bus driver never apologized to any of us, just gave a smirk when she noticed all the seats filled in the bus.... more

My family and I stayed at this hotel on 03/16/06 prior to a flight out of the country. The hotel looked to be in new condition. Our room was furnished with nice furniture and it was very clean. Much better than we expected. Free coffee in the lobby in the AM and while waiting for the shuttle (it leaves every 30 minutes), one of the hotel staff came up to us and asked if everything was satisfactory. (We said yes). We arrived with two very young children to stay overnight before an early transatlantic flight...on Thanksgiving - and needed somewhere with parking. I was VERY dubious about booking the hotel reading other reports and also because travel over Thanksgiving is a zoo - but I bit the bullet and booked....We were VERY pleasantly surprised (I am very fussy when it comes to hotels and won't go back if there is anything I don't like). This hotel is certainly not the Waldorf-Astoria, but if you rate it for what it is, then it is a bargain, and a pleasant place to stay. The hotel is accessible, quiet, and efficient. One of the better places to stay near JFK. My one complaint would be all the noise that the housekeeping staff makes beginning at 5 AM. Nothing out of the ordinary - but a bit early for buckets and carts to be banging around.

Arrived at JFK at 10:15 pm and the telephone number 718-322-4448 that I was given to contact the hotel was not working. I tried to contact someone for a shuttle pickup from the airport to hotle --No shuttle pickup and had to pay for a cab ride. I called the 800# for Hilton Garden Inn and they could not help either. After a long day and the hotel offers complimentary shuttle service, customers should not have to deal with this. We stayed on a "park and fly" plan after returning late from a vacation. Getting picked up at JFK was a bit sketchy as we had to wait out in the cold, windy, rain for quite a while. I think part of the problem was that JFK airport needs to provide a shelter for people to wait in when they are waiting for a shuttle bus. Once at the hotel, our stay was great. This is a great hotel, especially for the price that you pay. The rooms are clean and the employees are friendly. The concierge graciously gives detailed instructions from the hotel into Midtown Manhattan. To top it off, hot, fresh chocolate chip cookies are available on the main counter and a mini-convenient store chock full of snacks is situated in the lobby. The beds are especially comfortable and are akin to sleeping on the stacks of cotton. I loved this hotel and would return in a heartbeat!

I have stayed in hotels near JFK before and found them below the star rating. The Hilton was not only clean, but also provided the extras-micro-wave and small refrigerator in the room. Okay-they even had complimentary chocolate chip cookies in the PM and tea/coffee in the AM! The staff was friendly and my pre-online registration was accurate. Cost $10 USD for a taxi from JFK Terminal 4 to this hotel. Every staff member from the front desk, dining, and cleaners were extremely polite and helpful. The on-site restaurant was straightforward but simple. Being near the airport the noise was very acceptable and I think the average person would sleep through it. The free in-room wired internet access was plenty fast (measured at 2MB/s D/L). Free cookies at the reception in the evening.
