Lower Hyde Holiday Park
Close to the fun coastal town of Shanklin and some of the most popular golden sandy beaches on the Island.
The kids can enjoy non-stop fun in the outdoor pool with waterslide, while you relax on the suntrap patio. Why not challenge the family to a game on the multi sports court. Later on, relax with a drink in Hudsons Bar before going on to Squires Showbar for competitions, dancing and superb family shows.

I went to stay at the caravan park at Lower Hyde with my husband and 15 month son. We booked it through The Sun newspaper as didn't have much money to go away. Because of this I have to say our hopes were particularly high, and we were right.
The caravan, although clean, was very small indeed and extremely cold, which I suppose should be expected for the time of year we stayed. We also didn't have any hot water when we first got there, but once we reported the problem, a guy came and sorted it very promptly, so we were impressed with that.
We went to check out the playground area with our son and found a dead pigeon on the grounds. There were a few employees standing nearby having a laugh, etc but none of them seemed bothered by it. Not particularly nice for children to see. There was also only one swing as the other one had been removed, which was a shame. The rest of the playground looked quite good though (our son's too young to use the other facilities).
We ate up at Hudson's restaurant a few times and the food wasn't actually too bad. Quite a nice portion size. We didn't think the restaurant was particularly pushchair friendly though as the main seating area was down some stairs. There was some additional seating but this was up some stairs - again difficult for pushchairs. For a park that's sole purpose is to entertain families with children, we didn't think this was particularly good. You could also really smell the mens toilets. There wasn't much parking also near the restaurant, and people would just park anywhere, even if it was in someone elses way. The shop seemed over priced and there were an awful lot of school kids on bikes, obviously local, on the grounds weaving in and out of peoples way. This was pretty annoying.
Indoor swimming pool was ok, but very small. We were luckily the only people in it at the time, which was lovely, but could imagine it would be a nightmare in there with a load of kids. There were also only a small amount of changing cubicles and no lockers, so you would have to leave all you things on a chair near the pool. Again, this was fine as we were the only ones there, but may have felt differently if the pool was full. The outdoor pool was closed due to season.
We only went to the evening night club once, which was ok. Mainly kiddies stuff on at the time. Didn't see any entertainment so cannot comment.
All in all, the holiday was a bit of a disappointment as I didn't think the park lived up to my expectations. It just didn't seem very big and looked very tired. Certainly in need of a revamp. Isle of Wight was a nice place though, although Shanklin is a dump. We enjoyed Newport and Ryde as there were more choice of shops in these places.

Our caravan was on sister site landguard but we spent every evening @ lower hyde. What an excellent entertainment team there they worked extremly hard every evening especially spike gemma and "loopy laura" who had bundles of energy. They had all different age groups entertained and thats an achievement in its self the management team of lower hyde should be proud their entertainment workers set good standards and high quality entertainment we will defiantly be returning again. Well done guys n girls

Just got back from a week at Lower Hyde. Me, my husband and 2 boys had a fantastic time. We stayed in a silver caravan which although not large was fine and very clean. Although there are many caravans on the site it did not seem too crowded as there is plenty of room around each one. The staff are all friendly and really seemed happy to be there. We ate at Hudsons three times - the place looked clean and the food was lovely. The pools are not big but perfect for young children (my five year old could stand in the outside one) which means it is safe enough to watch from the edge if you don't fancy getting wet.
The Isle of Wight itself is great with so many various attractions - often discounted if you mention where you are staying. We were very lucky with the weather but regardless of this it was the best caravan holiday we have had and we shall be booking again for next year.

This is a very poor caravan park.
On arrival there was a queue to check in which you could not do before 16:00.
When you check in you then have the hassle of collecting your key which is a bit of mystery tour.
Our caravan was very poor, shower had a really bad crack in the tray and leaked everywhere and cut my childs foot.
The entertainment was awful. Why have an infants disco followed by bingo, which resulted in hyped up kids being constantly told to be quiet by a jumped up bingo caller. Simply awful. In addition the entertainment staff were intimidating, and would not leave alone to enjoy a quiet drink.
When I returned to the caravan with my partner and 3 young children, we could not sleep due to the noise of the clubhouse. We were not that close, the club house was just very noisy.
After the entertainment stopped, the staff carried on parting through in to the early hours and had to phone security to get them to stop. This was quite incredible and went on a couple of nights on the trot.
The pool area is a joke. Very small, lifeguards not very attentive.
i am not a snob, but a friendly family park this is NOT..!!! young kids wandering round with no supervision, and the kids greet you with middle finger gestures. The parents should be ashamed of them.
The parking is awful. In addition my car was deliberately scratched with a key all down one side. One evening returned to site and could not park near to caravan. Had to park miles away which created all sorts of problems with 3 young children fast asleep and bags to carry.
I would never go back.
If you want a friendly run site. chose somewhere else. This is a very poor site.

good location on the island. very close to shanklin village, the site is on a hill so get your walking shoes on at night to get to the club house. there is a indoor and outdoor pool and this is watched by the lifeguards who in turn join in with the children and make it fun. The nearest shop is somerfields just outside the site to the left. there is a small shop on the site. You are near to shanklin town and village which is lovely thatched cottages and the chine to walk down. There is plenty to do on the island with robin hill park, blackgang chine or a ride on the cliff chair lift at the needles not for the faint harted my hubby was shaking when he returned .The zoo is lovely at sandown and ventnor park is nice too .We were very lucky we had brillant weather and visited family too as we are familar to the island. The caravan was small but very clean and tidy.there was 4 adults and 1 child in our caravan we had a 2 bedroom. The seatin area converts into a bed.we had a sun break for 9.50 each but after you add the extras and the ferry crossing which was 65 pounds if you travelled after 1 pm before that is alot more It worked out to be nearly hundred and sixty pounds.

Excellent!!
We has a Silver Chalet and had the best week, the park was clean, the entertainment was excellent which was important as it rained every day (the entertainment was in fact far better than at Haven Resorts where we usually stay) and my kids had a fantastic holiday.
My daughter won a competition at the park so we got to return in October for finals week when we stayed in a Bronze caravan which was fine and we a great time again with much better weather than August!

We came to stay on a 5 day break booked for £9.99.
Overall we were very pleased with the accommodation. We were allocated a bronze caravan because we took our dog on holiday with us. Although it was basic it provided everything that we required for our stay.
We didn't go to the evening entertainment as you are unable to leave pets unattended, but were very happy with the small shop. There is also a lidlls store about 5 minutes walk away which was very practical and very cheap.
This is a great place to go if you are looking for a cheap dog friendly holiday. There are several foot paths that you can go for walks, and the town is only a 10 minute walk away.
The resort is in a good location to access the rest of the island.

We phoned ahead to book a camping pitch for 3 nights which cost £120. On arrival the access for prams was poor and the camping field was a very long way from the reception on top of a sloping hill that caught every gust of wind.
My child was injured by some gravel from their path through no fault of his own and so we could not even stay an 2 hours.
When we asked for refund we were told to write to head office. However we have written and been point blank refused a refund. I would definitely not recommend this resort for camping.

We booked a 3 night holiday way back in April. The day before we went (in August) we were phoned and were told that we'd have to sleep one night in one caravan and then move to another caravan for the other 2 nights. We agreed because it was so late and the children were looking forward to it. Park Resorts gave us a few quid in spending vouchers as compensation which we spent in the eating areas. The food was, however, terrible and we ate out for the rest of our stay.
The resort itself is not too bad. The newer caravans are excellent. I like peace & quiet so was glad to be quite a way from the entertainment complex, which was very noisy on Saturday night. The play area is good for the kids - a pity there's only one. The outdoor pool is OK, if a little small. It needs a good clean and some repairs on it for next season. The lifeguards are mostly useless and far more interested in chatting up girls than keeping a eye on safety. Most of the other staff were very good.
We didn't bother with the on-site evening entertainment so I can't tell you what it was like.
The roads and pavements are all too narrow and you take your life in your hands trying to get to the complex as there's only one way in and that's via the main road. Not good. They need to spend some money making better access.
We won't go back - the pool is too small, there's too many noisy oiks on cheap breaks and I really didn't like the access to the main complex.

Nice little holiday park. Accommodation was very clean and staff were friendly. This is not a noisy park and it was lovely to see the red squirrels climbing around in the trees.
There is a restaurant that is on site, serves breakfast, lunch, & dinner at reasonable prices.
There is also an entertainment club that had acts on in the evening. ( Although most would not get past the X - Factor judges).
There is also a small shop nearby that sells basic stuff. (There are 2 supermarkets just off site). And a launderette.
The Isle of Wight is absolutely beautiful. But I would not recommend this park or the Isle of Wight for teenagers they will get bored quickly.
All in all we had a good time but 2 weeks was a bit too long and we ran out of things to do. (Yes we had teenagers with us).

Myself, my wife and 2 children visited Lower Hyde over the Easter break.
We booked a silver caravan, when we arrived at the park at about 2.00pm our accommodation was not ready, but we were expecting this as they did tell me this when I booked.
We were told that we could use all of the facilities whilst we were waiting.
We made our way over to the family club room, where other guests were also waiting, the bar and food were both open and entertainment was on for the kids.
Our caravan was clean, tidy and well equipped for our needs, and was located in a lovely area.
The staff we met during our holiday were all so nice and friendly, especially the entertainers.
The park itself was always clean. We had a great time and have already booked to go back next year.
Well done to everyone at lower Hyde for making our stay so great, the kids had a great time and are always talking about sparky and the kids club.

When I booked my bronze caravan, I was told on the phone that the caravan would be no more than 8 years old.
When I actually saw the caravan I thought it was a joke. It was so old! We found a gas certificate in one of the drawers that was twelve years old.
The caravan was filthy. None of the cups and plates had been washed from the previous occupiers, there was no handles on any of the bedroom doors, so you couldn’t shut the bedroom doors at night.
The indoor swimming pool was so tiny - one in one out basis and with the outdoor pool boiler broken, the queue was extremely long. The life guards seemed more interested in chatting up the girls in the pool than actually watching the pool.
I felt it was not a good holiday park and at I cost of £1500 I felt let down. Good job Isle of Wight is brilliant so we didn’t have to stay on the park.
I actually am a really layed back person, so for me to actually write a review, it must be bad. Save your money and go somewhere else.
