The reason we chose this hotel in the first place was because every room is guaranteed an ocean view. Other hotels we looked at/researched had rooms facing the road as well - didn't want to take the risk of getting a room not facing the ocean.
We were not disappointed with the view. All rooms open out onto a balcony facing the Atlantic ocean. The Hotel is situated on the South Atlantic Highway, just north of Wilbur by the sea.
I do not have a bad word to say about this hotel. The room has a kitchenette, comprising of cooker, microwave, & fridge/freezer. We really missed this during the second week of our holiday in Orlando. Our room had 2 double beds, quiet modern air conditioning, and safe. TV with HBO.
The cleaners did a marvellous job keeping it clean. On a couple of occasions we inadvertently trampled sand into the room - the next day it had been completely vacuumed. Needless to say the rooms were very clean. (You have to do your own washing up though!!)
The Palm Plaza is twinned with the Beachside Hotel next door. We stayed in the Palm Plaza. Both hotels then form the "Palm Plaza Oceanside Resort". So it has 2 pools, the smaller of which was heated at the time of our visit. It has a small kiddie pool(not heated) and a hot tub(very nice after 5 hours on the beach)
Continental breakfast is provided free of charge between 7-9am, with tea and coffee being available all day/night free of charge.
The beach is about 20 steps away from the hotel, the pools overlook the beach/ocean. This part of Daytona beach has traffic lanes, so cars are able to drive and park on the beach. A novelty at first, but can be annoying when your children are running up and down the beach and you have to keep a eye out for traffic. Saying that, the traffic is limited to 10 mph and in November there wasn't that much about. I can't imagine what the beach is like for traffic in the summer!
Wilbur beach, about 2 miles south of us has no cars on it. The beach is fronted by beautiful private homes - well worth the walk.
The hotel doesn't have a restaurant, but there are plenty of places to eat within minutes of the hotel and there is a Publix supermarket just up the road. You could always cook your own dinner!
Two other highlights I feel the need to mention include: We saw dolphins swimming past our window, we noticed them twice in 7 days and Ospreys fishing outside our window - there were two of them, they were there every day.
I suppose there are many fabulous hotels along this stretch of beach, but for the money £34 per night this hotel would take a lot of beating. I will definitely stay in this hotel again.
