We booked this holiday as an October break to an area that we had not been to in Italy.
The Hotel Albatros has a 3* rating and having stayed in 3* Italian hotels before, thought that this would be fine.
The transfer from Palermo was 3 hours in the brochure but in fact was over 4 hours to the hotel. On the return journey it was over 5 hours.
Although transfers were included in the price of the holiday, the bus dropped us 300 yards from the hotel, at 2.00 A.M. in a thunderstorm.
As there was no courier on the bus, we had just to accept what the driver told us in his poor English, although he said it was 20 metres. The next morning there was no hot water and the Continental Breakfast was poor.
The hotel gave an impression of couldn't care less. The room we had was basic but very clean and had a good view of the sea with balcony.
Thankfully we had opted for bed and breakfast, as there are many extremely good restaurants in the village of Lettijanni, the part of Taormina we were staying.
We especially liked the Arco Rossi which is on the edge of the town along the seafront. The town itself was quiet but very nice.
Be warned if you decide to go excursions with Newmarket, we were coerced to buy a set meal without being asked by the courier on a trip to Argigento. This was O.K. but overpriced and not really needed by people on half board.
To sum up, a lovely situated hotel, poorly run for a 3* with the Tour company being very economical with what they tell you.
